Name: Ashley Marie
Birthdate:   September 5, 2002
Parents: Dee Dee & Rodney
Favorite Toy/Activity:
Ashley loves to color, read books, put puzzles together, dance, and go to the park.

Latest Achievement:
Ashley is now talking in paragraphs! She's also learned quite a few songs and sings all day long. She loves to count... she goes around counting everything! She can say her alphabet and can also recognize some words when they are written. She likes to draw happy faces and can write the letters "A" and "D" (although they are not perfect) She's growing up WAY TOO FAST!

Other Information:
It's been amazing to watch her grow over the last 1-1/2 years. Ashley has brought so much love and joy to my life, I can't remember what life was like before she came along. I thank God every day for bringing us such a blessing!

MommyToAshley replied:
Awwe Thanks! wub.gif Yay! Ashley's in the spotlight, this will be fun!

What are her favourite songs to sing and listen to?
She loves to listen to all kinds of music...kids songs and regular music.
But, I think she likes singing even better. laugh.gif She walks around singing and doing the Hokey Pokey all the time. And, I catch her singing Hush Little Baby to her babies a lot. wub.gif She's also been singing Gingle Bells lately. But, I think her favorite song of all time is the Barney I Love You song.

What does she want for Christmas?
Originally she wanted a train set, but when she went to see Santa and he asked her what she wanted, she said a Princess. biggrin.gif

What is she geting for Christmas?
Wooden train and table
Megaland pop-up tent (has balls that you put in it and tunnels that connect)
Leapfrog Fridge magnetic letter set
Puzzles
Sit N Spin
Baby doll
Clothes
Barney DVD's
And, I guess I am going to have to find a Princess. biggrin.gif
(She's getting a leappad and some other things from grandparents)

Is she a girly-girl or a tomboy?
Hmmm... that's a tough one. She loves to wear dresses and hear how pretty she looks in them. laugh.gif (Although she doesn't like to have her hair done) She plays with dolls and other girly toys. But, then on the other hand, she's not afraid to get dirty, loves to wrestle around or play basketball with Daddy. She loves those little Hot Wheels cars, and preferred a wooden train set over a kitchen set. So, I think the verdict is still out on this one.

Is she a mummy's or a daddy's girl?
Definitely a Daddy's Girl. wub.gif They are so wonderful together, it just melts my heart.

Do u have a nickname for her?
We have a few, but the one nickname that we have called her since birth is munchskey (pronounced like munch-skii)

What's the last thing she did that made you laugh?
She is a non-stop riot. She keeps us laughing. But, you asked the last thing, and that was just a few minutes ago. Out of the blue, she says "You are Mamal's daughter." (I guess my Mom told her that). Then, she continues, "I am your daughter." I was impressed and thought, "wow, she really gets this!" Then, she says, "Daddy is my daughter" LOL! rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif How Funny!

What's one of the naughtiest things that she has ever done?
She is really a pretty good girl. But, she has this fascination with outlets that drives me insane. She'll pull the child protector plugs out and plug something in. The sliding child protectors don't work with our outlets because they are not the standard size face plates.

MommyToAshley replied:
wub.gif Awee, you all are too sweet!

What's her favorite food?
I'm lucky and she likes just about any food. But, I think her favorite meal would be chicken, broccoli, cheese, and then either peaches or bananas. Those are her fav's. laugh.gif Oh, and chocolate -- she only gets that once in a while as a special treat, but she is going to be a chocolate lover.

What's her favorite book?
She LOVES books. I don't think she has a favorite though. She usually picks out about 10 to read at bedtime. She likes for me to read her the Winnie the Pooh stories, but she also likes the shorter board books as well.

How has she changed since you last updated her Profile wink.gif ?
That profile is pretty old... that picture is really old, she's gotten much bigger. laugh.gif However, those are still her favorite activities. As for milestones, she's just gotten better at everything. The one thing we hear from everyone when we go out is that they are amazed at her vocabulary. It's like talking to a little adult, but I assume that is because she is around DH and myself all day long. And, she can recognize quite a few words in books now.

And, I still thank God every day for giving us such a blessing. I can't even put into words how much love I have for this child!

MommyToAshley replied: I have a few projects to finish up, but I will answer some more questions this afternoon. This is sooo much fun! I'll try to get TLCDad to answer some too!

GavinsMommy replied: She's so sweet looking wub.gif

MommyToAshley replied:
Thank you. wub.gif

How is she doing with the Christmas tree?
She wouldn't stay out of it the first couple of days, but now she does much better with it. She likes to turn the lights on, so as someone here suggested, I got one of those extension cords with the foot switch. It still worries me but at least she is not plugging stuff in.

Is she a climber?
At first she wasn't much of a climber, she would just push her stool around to reach stuff she needed to reach. But, now she climbs on everything, just last night she was climbing on the dresser! wacko.gif

Does she still use a high chair?
Yes, she still uses a highchair. She prefers to sit at the table, but she doesn't mind too much if we put her in the highchair... as long as there is food, she is happy. laugh.gif

What does she think of Chritmas time so far?
She loves all the lights and the tree. I am not sure if she really grasps the concept of Santa. But, if you ask her who's birthday it is on Christmas, she will say "Baby Jesus". She has a book about Christmas, and she always turns to the last page with the picture of Baby Jesus. wub.gif

What is her favorite toy at the moment?
Hmmm... she has a few favorites. She still likes any kind of blocks, mega blocks and the abc blocks. She also plays with her Little People a lot. She will drive them from the house to the zoo in the Little People bus, it's so funny to watch her. She also likes babies and Hot Wheel cars.

WHat does she like to watch on TV?

She doesn't really watch a lot of TV, but she will sit beside Daddy in our office when we are working and watch Barney DVD's on the computer. (He has two computers on his desk). We just recently bought her the Barney Movie and she wants to watch that one all the time now.

MommyToAshley replied:
Awwwwe, shucks, thanks. wub.gif

What is the funniest thing she does?
She has these funny faces that she makes, and she will act out different emotions. If you ask her if she is sad, she will make a sad face and pretend to cry. If you ask her if she is happy, she will make this cheesey smiley face. And, if you ask her if she is cold, she will shake and say "brrrr, cold" And so on for hot, tired, have to sneeze, etc. I am not doing it justice in my description, I will have to put some video online for you too see.

What is the her favorite thing to do with mommy and daddy?
She loves to play Follow the Leader (but you have to run), Hide N Seek, Duck Duck Goose, or London Bridges with us

What is her favorite song to sing? book?
She has quite a few she likes to sing. Usually it's the Barney song, but she's been singing Gingle Bells a lot lately.

Kaitlin'smom replied: has she talked about what she wants to be? (I know she is still so young but I figure she might have an idea already)

does she have a crew of animals she sleeps with?

kimberley replied: She is so beautiful and smart!!! wub.gif wub.gif

does she ever ask for a sibling?
if so, does she prefer a brother or sister?
are you going to oblige her sometime soon? tongue.gif
are you going to put her in preschool?
what is your secret to making the cutest, smartest baby? wink.gif

MommyToAshley replied:
She hasn't talked about wanting to be anything yet, I am not sure she grasps that concept yet. Of course, we don't have ordinary jobs either... when we walk down the hall into the office in our house, she asks us if we are going to work. rolling_smile.gif

does she have a crew of animals she sleeps with?
She has several animals and dolls that she sleeps with. Lately she has been taking her beanie babies to bed with her. It is sooo cute, when I go to check on her after she has fallen asleep, she will have them all lined up on her pillow and covered up to their waist with a blanket. wub.gif Now, if I could just get her to keep a blanket on.

MommyToAshley replied:
wub.gif Aweee, thank you.

does she ever ask for a sibling?
Not really, but she always asks if her cousins can come over. Or if some of her little friends can come over. I am not sure she understands what a brother or sister is yet.
if so, does she prefer a brother or sister?
I am sure she would be happy either way.
are you going to oblige her sometime soon? tongue.gif
It's still open for discussion. tongue.gif
are you going to put her in preschool?
I am going to put her in a program at the Church. It's not really a preschool, but they teach similar things. It is only three days a week, for a few hours on those days. But, she has to be 2-1/2 before she can start.
what is your secret to making the cutest, smartest baby? wink.gif
Lots of love. wub.gif But, it looks like you figured out that secret too.

kit_kats_mom replied: I am totally in awe of your little munchkin. She is such a sweetie and your stories about her antics always make me smile. wub.gif

What is her favorite thing to do outside?
Does she have any pets or ask for them?
How does she express her affection?
What is a typical tantrum like for her?
What does her room look like?
Does she have a security item?
5 words you would use to describe her to someone who hasn't met her
What do you think she will be when she grows up?

MommyToAshley replied:
What is her favorite thing to do outside?
She loves to go to the park. It's not far from our house, we can walk to it, but there are a few turns onto different streets and Ashley knows the way. LOL! I think her favorite thing to do at the park is to swing, unless there are kids there then she loves to do whatever they are doing.
Does she have any pets or ask for them?
We don't have any pets, but MIL has a dog and she loves to chase him. The other night, we were at MIL's house and Ashley was reading a book by the fireplace and Gizmo (MIL's dog) sat down beside her. Ashley went and got a book for Gizmo too, it was soo cute. It looked like they were reading together -- too bad I didn't have a camera with me!
How does she express her affection?
She's a very loving and affectionate toddler. She loves to give "teddy bear hugs" -- that's what she calls them. She'll wrap her arms around your neck real tight, and then pat your back with her hand. wub.gif She'll give kisses too.

I have to tell you what she just did -- it's so nice to be appreciated. Since we are snowed in, I thought homemade soup sounded sooo good. I was in the kitchen making the soup when Ashley comes up to me and says, "thank you". I looked at her and said, "Thank you? For What?" And she said, "thank you for making lunch!" OMG! My two year old appreciates that I am making lunch!!!!! I was ready to cry!!!!

What is a typical tantrum like for her?
She doesn't really throw tantrums. I think she had one where she cried and stomped her feet once, but I can't remember what it was about. She will get mad for a minute or two and whine/cry for a second and if I just ignore it or distract her then she will usually go about her business.

What does her room look like?
We just redid her room in strawberry shortcake. Her room was originally redecorated for a second office (before we got PG). It had hunter green carpet, and hunter green marbled wallpaper half was up the wall and then a chairrail, and then white walls at the top. So, on the top half, I was going to do a garden theme, but she wanted strawberry shortcake when we were at the store. I was going to stencil in a strawberry border and paint a mural, but I ran out of time, so I got wallpaper strawberry shortcake border, and those cling stick on things for the wall. Ashley helped me put on the stick ons for the wall... she had a blast doing that. It's a little more busy than I like, but Ashley loves it and that's what matters. I'll take a picture later.

Does she have a security item?
Not really. She has to say her prayers with a Precious Moments prayer doll (which she calls Baby Amen) but she doesn't have to have it to sleep. She has to have a bunch of things in bed with her, but she doesn't have one particular security item.

5 words you would use to describe her to someone who hasn't met her
Loving, Funny, Happy, stubbon, and independent

What do you think she will be when she grows up?
Hmmm... that's a tough one. She loves to sing and she likes to "act" (see the previous post about what's the funniest thing she does). But she also loves to talk all the time, LOL. So, maybe some kind of entertainer. She also likes to do puzzles, blocks, and read... so maybe a scholar, scientist or engineer of some sort? I guess only time will tell.
