~* In The Spotlight *~ - Jamison Catherine

Sys:Spotlight wrote: In The Spotlight For Mar 13, 2004

Name: Jamison Catherine
Birthdate:   September 27, 2002
Parents: Jon and Brenda
Favorite Toy/Activity:
Jamison loves her picnic table and dishes and she looks at books several times a day. She loves to put laundry on her head (clean of course)--especially our underwear and she loves to tear off small pieces of toilet paper and shove it inside of the tube (that can keep her busy longer than any of her toys).

Latest Achievement:
Dancing---she has been dancing for a while but she has discovered an entire new way of doing it. Jamison can also identify the colors blue and purple we are working on yellow but sliding on her own is her very latest achievement

Other Information:
Jamison is the love of our lives. What an amazing ride this has been! Every day is filled with more wonder and excitement. Just when you think it can't get any better...it does!

Jamison'smama replied:
Just came in from Tulsa and saw this--good thing I checked smile.gif

First word was YEA!!

Favorite toy is probably her Wiggle House---if it can be considered a toy--it is a tent in our living room that looks like the Wiggle house. She loves books and little people stuff.

Her favorite thing to do is play tag!

She is both mommy and a daddy's girl--for different things--she adores her daddy and definately laughs and plays hardest with him--she loves on me and is more affectionate with me.

SHe has her dad's coloring and more of my features--looks a little like my dad as well.

Jamison's name comes from my dad James.

Jamison'smama replied:
Thank you!

Her room doesn't have a theme but it is some antique colors with rose bud accents. She has a light wood crib, dresser and rocker, a big toybox/bookshelf combo that we painted to match the walls which are linen white. We added a pink/ rose accent in paint on various things--that's about it!

She doesn't care at all what I dress her in but since it has been winter for so long and all her limbs are always covered it seems like she prefers having her arms and legs exposed when it is warm.

Her favorite foods are pasta and CHEESE!

She really does like TV--much to my dismay (I thank her dad for that) She loves Sesame Street!

Jamison'smama replied:
Latest achievement is a three word sentence--I blow bubbles. She also loves to look for birds and points and screams loudly A BIRD! She also learned that no matter how much you scream and cry on an airplane you can't get down and run--even if you scream for 45 MINUTES!

Jamison and her daddy dance every night to big band music--he was looking for something with an upbeat beat and found my old Squirrel Nut Zippers CD and it has become a nightly thing with them.

Her favorite book of all time is Peek A Moo but she has been into Brown Bear Brown Bear lately but she also LOVES the Phone book!

I would not change the result of the birth smile.gif but I would have loved to have been able to avoid a C-Section and have spent those first lovely moments holding and nursing her.

It is hard to put into a sentence what amazes me the most about her--every day it is something different. I think what amazes me most often is that she is my daughter--I feel so blessed every day!

Jamison'smama replied:
What will she be? Good questioon... she loves to be naked--that's not good, she is definatly used to the cameras so she could be famous and not be fazed (hopefully not for being naked though). She loves to draw--she would color or write with a pen all day, so maybe a writer or an artist although I doubt she could sit still long enough.

Her favorite treat food wise is a vanilla wafer --her favorite treat non food is her electric toothbrush.

My favorite memory is the first time she nursed and was successful, there is nothing like feeling like you finally met that need. Another memory I love is the first time she stayed by herself in the church nursery--she just looked so big sitting there, eating graham crackers and patting the Bible.

She seems outgoing most of the time--very independent!

kimberley replied: what is the most important thing(s) you want to teach her?
who is her favorite person other than mom and dad?
does she have any boy friends?
what are your favorite mother/daughter things that you do with her or plan to do with her?
does she ask for a little brother or sister?

paradisemommy replied: is she a girly girl? (i notice she is usually in pink and dresses. is that your doing or does she like to be in dresses? or is she a tomboy?)
do you plan on having other children? do you think she'll like being a big sister?
does she have a favorite color?
does she like to play sports?
what's the funniest thing she's done lately?

Jamison'smama replied:
I think my favorite thing to do with her is read--I hope she always loves to read!

Her personality--Jamison is silly, she likes to tease us and make faces so that we will copy her, she is stubborn and has to do it exactly how she wants to, she is loving but only to those she chooses to be loving with--she will not hug on demand. Jamison loves to squeal when she is happy, she is witty and smart and a big 'ole flirt.

Her daddy makes her smile the biggest---when he comes home--she lights up!

Her birth was a little bit hard--I always remind myself that it is the end result that matters but it could have been better---I pushed and pushed and pushed--hours --no baby (I was induced 9 days past my due date) . Dr. said my pelvis was too small to get her out of there (not for lack of trying). C - section resulted--no complications but the floor was full and I had to wait in recovery until someone was discharged etc. I went 5 hours without seeing my daughter---I would not tolerate that again but we bonded fine so all is well.

Jamison'smama replied:
Whoa, hard question. Of course I want to teach her that she can be anything she wants to be. I want to teach her to be a kind person, to be appreciative, and honorable. I hope I teach her to love seeking knowledge. I want her to love whatever she chooses to do and know that happiness comes from within. --I suppose I could write an entire essay on this----I am sure it is what we all wish for our children. ( I may have to edit this part--too hard of a question smile.gif )

Jamison's favorite person would be my friend Barb--my family is so far away that Jamison sees more of my friends than she does my family.

She does have a boy friend--it is Barb's son Andrew--he is 18 days younger than she is.

I love to take her picture, but I plan to do all the corny mother/daughter things--I hope she likes the theater. I want to take her to musicals and the Nutcracker.

She has no idea what a little brother or sister is at this point--but I think she really wants a puppy smile.gif

Jamison'smama replied:
I make her a girly girl but I think she is one anyway. She plays most often with a little boy and they are completly different. Jamison LOVES her baby and wraps it up and feeds it. She loves wearing headbands but I think she prefers a baseball cap and she loves being outside so I can't really tell at this point.

We do want other children--plan to start trying sometime soon. I have no idea how she will handle a sibling. She is pretty demanding and has our complete attention it will be a hard adjustment but she loves playing wtih older kids and she points out all the babies wherever we go so who knows?

It seems her favorite color is red.

She LOVES to play ball and "hut huts" a football then says "touchdown"

Well, wearing Jon's underwear on her head--all morning and whenever she gets the chance cracks me up. But I may have to do some more thinking on that one.

MommyToAshley replied: Are there any words or phrases that she says (or misprounces) that you think is cute?
What was the first thing she laughed at?
Does she have any addictions or fetishes?
Have you kept a baby book for her? Any momentos?
What is your favorite picture of her?

And, I just have to add, she is really beautiful. Her pictures are always great, she's so photogenic. wub.gif

Jamison'smama replied:
I love the ways she says ball (baa bool), she says uppy (puppy) and I bo bu bu, (I blow bubbles)

She laughed at her daddy of course--he just has that way with her.

Addictions--other than the underwear on her head, she has to close everything, can't leave a drawer out. She also wipes/scrubs things constantly, the floor, her highchair etc. You have to smell her feet when you take her socks off and say Shooo, and you have to kiss each hand (usually 2 times) when she falls down.

I stink at keeping up the baby book but I have kept EVERYTHING, even the umbilical cord scab and the 8 pregnancy tests I took. I am making a modge podge step stool with the cards she received when she was born, I made a tray like that with my wedding cards and it is so much nicer than viewing them in a book.

You can't ask me to choose a favorite picture---I added a few of the ones that I took on here that I like---(this is a small sampling done very quickly) professional pictures would be another story smile.gif

Guest replied: How many words does she say?
Does she have to have her hands cleaned off right away or does she not mind if they get messy?
Does she eat with a fork/spoon?
What's the last thing she does before going to bed?

Jamison'smama replied:
Hmmm, haven't counted her words lately but she has 4 new ones just this week--well over 50 I would say although she isn't consistant. She goes through spurts of using words then she will stop for a while like she forgot them--very strange.

She doesn't really mind if her hands are dirty but she does rub what ever is on her hands all over like it is lotion.

She prefers a fork--she'll use a spoon though but is better at stabbing things with a fork.

Bath then books, then she usually nurses and we talk about her day, we give bunny kisses and if all goes well she drifts off to sleep. Of course that is the ideal scenario, the nursing and kissing can go on for quite some time!
