amynicole21 replied: How is K adjusting to life in the new house? Does she understand that Mommy has a baby in her tummy? How did you/will you tell her about the baby? How do you think she will treat the baby when it's born?
Josie83 replied: What sort of music does she like to sing and dance to? What was the last thing that she said that made you life? Has she any special friends?
kit_kats_mom replied: She loves the new house. There is a lot more room here for her to run around in and there are sidewalks so she can ride her tricycle. She likes her room too.
I'm not sure if she understands that or not. She was playing with my tummy last night and we were putting Teddy bear under my shirt and playing with that. She just started to lie her head on my belly, pat it and say "hi baby".
I just mention it pretty often when an opportunity presents itself. For example, if we are at a store and we see a pair of siblings, I'll tell her that she will be a big sister & have her own baby brother or sister soon. She always says "yes"
I suspect that she may have a hard time adjusting to the time that will not be spent exclusively on Katherine. However, she is wonderfully maternal with her dolls and other babies IRL. She loves to pat, rock & sing to little babies. I think she will be curious, excited and a bit suprised.
kit_kats_mom replied: This kid will dance to anything. The music that elicts the best dance results (those moves that just crack DH and I up) is either Bluegrass or Techno. We only found that out when we were going through the music stations on our TV and the Bluegrass station came on. Let me tell you, a banjo makes my daughter do some super silly stuff.
She likes to sing her own made up songs "I love dinner, I love dinner, yes I do, Yes I do" and also twinkle twinkle little star & old macdonald. She will sing along with most of the kids songs that she knows.
Hmmmm, the last thing she said that made me laugh? Well, this morning we were at the store and she and DH were off exploring while I did the shopping. I hear her scream "mommmmmmieeeeee" from the other end of the aisle and she runs towards me. Then she holds up a broken carnation and says "smell the flower mom" so I do. As I'm smelling it, she's sniffing along with me. Then she says "mmmmmmmmm yummmmmy flower!" Honestly, she cracks me up almost everytime she opens her mouth. Now that shes speaking more clearly, but her brain isn't quite as fast it usually has some pretty funny results.
Well, she has her teddy & bunny. Those guys have been around for a long time with her & she almost always has at least one. IRL she has gotten pretty chummy with the sitters kids. A 3 yo named Megan and a 17 month old named Sammy. I hear that she and Sammy have a love hate realtionship. They hug on each other a lot & pretty much stay close together during the day but Sammy's just started pushing her when she sits next to his mom. I think it's a total shock to her because she's never been pushed/bit etc....oh well, live and learn.
~CrazieMama~ replied: What colors do you think look best on her?
What are her favorite foods?
What are her favorite t.v. shows?
kit_kats_mom replied: I really like her in pinks & other pastels. But she really looks cute in anything, except for dark blue.
Mac & cheese, yogurt, peanut butter, broccoli, meatloaf, hotdogs & green beans.
Right now she's really into the wiggles & Dora. She will watch anything though. I have to keep an eye on her. Don't want her to be a couch potato!
~CrazieMama~ replied: lol I can understand that. lol
Does she have a fovorite toy? or comfort object?
ediep replied: does she have any cousins? does she have any neighbors that she may go to school with in a few years? what is her room like?
kit_kats_mom replied: The only real comfort object she has is her teddy bear. She must have him to sleep. We have two of them, just in case.
Her playroom is stocked with toys but right now, she'd rather dance or paint than anything else.
kit_kats_mom replied: No real cousins. DH and I are both onlies but my family is one that tends to "take in strays" so we have a pretty large "extended family". She has 2 teenagers who we call her cousins.
Well, there is evidence of kids all over this neighborhood (playgrounds, sandboxes etc in back yards) but I have yet to actually meet any of them. I'm not really sure how to go about it either. We go for walks around the neighborhood every evening but besides little waves, no-one is overly outgoing.
Right now, her room is not done but it has yellow walls. A small bookcase with her giraffe night lamp, a fan for white noise & her fave books on it. Her crib matteress is currently on the floor until I find a bed I like for her. There's an air mattress in the middle of the floor for DH or I to sleep on during those "rough nights". A closet full of clothes & her dresser/changing table are in there next to the rocking chair. We will have to come up with some sort of design when we find out the sex of the second since they will be sharing a room & the crib will need to go in there. If it's a girl, I'm thinking of leaving the walls yellow and painting hot pink, lime green & light blue polka dots randomly on the wall & using those colors for curtians & bedding. If it's a boy...maybe yellow and green? Dunno
A&A'smommy replied: What does she do to make you laugh the hardest? What is your favorite thing to do with her? What are you planning on doing for her birthday?
3_call_me_mama replied: What's the hardest part about being home with her? The best part? What's her favorite book/story? Does she say if she wants a brother or sister? (ie. have a preference?)
Beautiful little girl by the way! She's just too cute!
kit_kats_mom replied: Her dancing and the funny sentences she's making now just crack me up. For example, we went to the beach yesterday and all last night she was talking about "biiiiig water" LOL
I love to snuggle with her.
I plan to sneak in her room & take a picture of her sleeping before she wakes up (did this last year too) & then wake her up with a rousing rendition of Happy birthday. Then she's off to daycare where they will have a small party. That night we are driving to Grandmas house & we will have a family birthday party (probably a pool party) on Saturday.
kit_kats_mom replied: Well, she's in part time home daycare now so I get a break to work now. LOL But the days when she's home, the hardest days are when I'm tired. She almost never takes a nap on those days and it really irks me.
The best part of having her home with me, just being with her is great. We have lots of fun most of the time.
Her favorite book(s) are the ones we read before bed every night, in this order... Pat the Bunny The Foot Book (Dr Suess) she has this one memorized and will "read" it to you. Counting Kisses Goodnight Moon
She doesn't seem to have a preference.
Thank you!
jdkjd replied: Does she "go" on the potty yet? Any funny stories related to her (or you) going potty?
kit_kats_mom replied: No. She was showing interest about 2 weeks before we moved and I did not encourage it since I figured that would just add to my headaches. She puts her potty seat on the toilet and will sit on it, but not without a diaper. I'm guessing that she will start to show more interest when the next youngest kid in daycare starts to train soon....she's such a copy-cat.
Nope, no funnies but I can't wait until Bailey is in the spotlight so I can ask you the same question.
