$21 per $1,000!!! - I can't believe it!
punkeemunkee'smom wrote: I know I have posted on here a few times that I have had trouble with my truck. Well it is looking like a bigger problem than we want to mess with anymore-just getting to be to much with DH traveling so much and Tay and I alone-we can't break down. Anyway we went and looked at new trucks yesterday. They are so nice! But your average monthly payment is $21 per $1,000 financed. So on $30,000(average pretty plain truck) you are looking at $600 bucks a month! Dh says we need to do it and I know we do.We NEED a reliable vehicle I know this sounds like a unnecessary expense but would you please send some P&PTs our way that we are able to work out a deal and get the vehicle we need.
Gotta laugh or gonna cry...the salesman came out to appraise our truck and he started it and killed it and it would not start for him again..needless to say the trade in value went WAY DOWN. But when we left the dealership the dang thing started right up!
C&K*s Mommie replied: Here is to lots of P&PT's for being able to find a reliable truck. I also hope that you get to work with a salesman that will not 'knock your head off' with overpricing.
Chris works in the auto sales, and he has told me that some of the salesmen he works with, will even high ball even their own mothers!!! So I hope you get to make a deal with an honest salesperson.
Good luck!!!
coasterqueen replied: I'd believe it. We pay over $600 a month for our minivan. DH and I thought we'd have to commit ourselves after buying that thing and we still feel that way every month when we make the payment. But it's our only car payment so it's really not too bad.
and hope you get a good deal. We always feel robbed when we go to buy a vehicle.
PrairieMom replied: Don't tell me that! AUGH! I am in the market for a mini van, and hope to buy one in May just before the Nubbin is born. I REALLY don't want to pay that much $ tho. I am in severe denial that vans could possibly cost that much. I think I am going to be in for a rude awakening!
C&K*s Mommie replied: Minivans, unlike most common cars have ALOT more wiggle room than you may think. Most car dealerships are out to make a BIG profit off of the customers, not a surprise there. But Chris has told me that we could get a van for really cheap, since they have very little value at trade-in. So when you go to buy one, *PrarieMom*, you have a better opportunity to haggle more for a van-- even more than the haggling for a truck or a car.
I want one, but I am happy with my car, now. He is looking at getting out of the car business, this yr, so if we are going to make a move I suppose we better do it soon-- while he still has connections.
coasterqueen replied: True, I agree. We actually did get a really good deal on our van, though, believe it or not. We got the top of the line minivan with all the accessories you could think of plus zero percent financing. We just got it over a shorter period of time (the loan), but I still think the prices of minivans are OUTRAGEOUS. Dh was the one who wanted top of the line accessories, but he also figures we'll keep this van until it dies on us for good, so it really was worth it getting everything we wanted.
Kaitlin'smom replied: WOW I bairly pay 1/2 that for my mini-van/SUV and its got some awsome bells and wistles, including on star came free for 1 year but I opted to buy 2 more to have it the entire time of the lease.
MamaJAM replied: Sending P&PT your way. Hopefully they can give you a decent tread-in even though it wouldn't start a second time for the guy. GOOD LUCK!
ftr - We did the same thing alst winter. We had to get rid of our 'money-pit' van -- it was in the shop every 2-3 months and each time costing at least $1,00 to repair (money we just don't have). We looked at new instead of used because, like you, we needed something we could count on. When at the dealer with the 'money-pit' I had a list of things I had to tell them before they appraised it (or we would have had bigger problems than just a low trade-in) - things like: don't open the driver's side window or it won't shut again - don't fully open the sliding door or it gets jammed - needless to say, we didn't get much for it.
coasterqueen replied: What kind of minivan do you have Di? You only paid $300 for yours? I don't think I ever paid anything less than $300 a month on a car.
Kaitlin'smom replied: a Saturn Relay it was new in 05 I love it I have had several people ask if its an SUV. Its kinda shaped more like an SUV. I pay just a bit more than 300 and I did not trade my car to them I sold it to them and got a better deal. I just cant imigime have a 600 car payment I could have 2 car payments for that.
and ops I meant I bairly pay more than 1/2 of 600 actually there was a deal once where it would have been just under 300....should have waited Oh well.
jacobsmama replied: I also have a minivan and I pay 235.00 a month for it and we love it! Loaded and doors on both sides...but all the other ones I was looking at were like 400-600 a month
MamaJAM replied: I have a Relay too - it's a 2005 - we bought it last Jan. Our payment is right around $600/month -- it's also well decked-out (though we got the cloth seats since I wanted more walking room between the middle-row seats). I'm amazed you got yours so cheap....we even got a good deal on ours (though we had basically no trade-in).
coasterqueen replied: Did you put a down payment on it from the car you sold them? That will make a difference too and from my understanding you can get leases a lot cheaper than what you would outright buy a car, so if you got a lease that could be why your payment is cheaper.
MamaJAM replied: The van we traded in wasn't worth much...they gave us something for it - not much - but something (we couldn't have sold it on our own...more likely we'd have had to apy to trash it somewhere). We did the leasing thing years ago and don't like it -- I can't see constantly shelling out money for something you don't even own....then either buying it in the end or starting over with another lease. Also - with 5 kids - keeping any vehicle in decent enough condition to be worth the buy-out price at the end of a lease isn't going to happen. We got a really good deal on it...and it will be paid off in a few years -- so it's definately worth it.
Just being nosey -- What color is you Relay. Mine's green with tan interior. LOVE IT.
