? for those who know a thing or 2 - about daycare

MyBabeMaddie wrote: My daycare search ended today - I printed out the thread with everyones responses on what to look for - It helped soooo much.

Anyways the place I chose is $156/week for 3 full days. Does that sound reasonable? Thats pretty much what I've been getting from all the other places - that or around $4.50-5 an hour....

mummy2girls replied: wow thats expensive. but im in canada and here daycare is not that much for 3 days a week... it depends on the place and city i guess...

hoosier momma replied: If it is a licensed daycare center that is only a little higher than what it would be here in Indiana. A five day week would run around $250, but at a home the going rate is around $120 to $150 for the whole week. Hope everything works out for the best for you. I know how hard it is to find daycare. My sister in law quit her job and decided to watch my son about two weeks before I went back to work. I was incredibly thankful and relieved.

amynicole21 replied: We pay around $180 for Nora for the full week. It totally depends on where in the country you live, though.

coasterqueen replied: I pay $190 for 2 kids per week for an at-home sitter which is cheap. Most daycares around here start $150 to $175 per kid for a full week.

It totally depends on where you live for sure.

Cece00 replied: I think that is pretty expensive, since daycare here is about $450 a month TOPS (usually around $400) and in home is usually about $375-400 for full time (40 hrs a week aka 5 full days)

C&K*s Mommie replied: It really depends on your area.
For our area, infants and children will range from $90-110 per week full time (5days), usually that includes meals (brkfst & 1 or 2 snacks)

We pay around $180/mo for Christian's school, but will be paying for daycare for her over the summer, plus Kellie so I am in the process of looking again for daycares too.

hoosier momma replied: I just wanted to add that around here, infant care always runs higher and I found several daycares that didn't even accept them.

Paprikash replied: It's completely dependent on where you live. We pay $500 a week which is considered cheap in our neck of the woods wacko.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: Like others said, it totally depends on your area. I charge $182 a week for littler ones. I have heard as low as $25 a day for infants, but also as much as $225 a week for a full week. If that is the quote you are getting from other places then that is probably the norm in your area. Like someone else said too, infants and 1 year olds are going to be more expensive than older kids, not just because of them being more demanding and needing more care and attention, but because the teacher:child ratio goes down so they have to charge higher to keep their profits steady.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Wow, I'm glad I live in Idaho. Part time care for Logan is $200/month. He goes about 5 days every 2 weeks. I can also drop him by anytime I need to go to an appointment or something. Full time would be $350/month.

HuskerMom replied: The daycare I worked at over the summer charged $450 a month for infants.
