<sigh> anyone else swellin up?

OklahomaSooners wrote: lordy I just had to spend about 5 minutes struggling off my wedding ring this morning. My poor finger looks so empty!!! I am NOT LOOKING FORWARD to getting weighed at my appt. wednesday... BUT.. we are finding out if it's a boy or a girl Wednesday morning!!!

MommyToAshley replied: It about broke my heart when I had to take off my wedding rings. sad.gif But, I swelled up too. It wasn't too bad though, my ankles didn't swell until about a week before Ashley was born. But, most of that is water retention...they might tell you to watch your salt intake and drink lots of water. I guess the more water you drink, the less you retain. Sounds odd, but it's true.

Ohhh...an U/S...how exciting. biggrin.gif I hope your little one isn't shy and you get to find out! Be sure to let us know!

OklahomaSooners replied: aweeeeee thank you! i guess i thought you didn't swell til late late late in pregnancy.. I proved that wrong after the insane pulling with soap and lotion! wacko.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I didn't have to pull off my wedding rings... because I don't have any!!! lol!! rolling_smile.gif

Good luck in your ultrasound, and be sure to let us know!!!!!!

CantWait replied: Good Luck with your u/s.

Are you hoping for a boy or girl, or does it matter? baby.gif

OklahomaSooners replied: ohhhh my husband is SUCH the macho hunter man.. he prefers a boy.. but he was SO cute last night.. he called me over to his throne ( the lazy boy ) and told me that no matter what we have he'll be happy.. He's such the undercover sweety...

I never actually believed people when they said ' we don't care as long as it's healthy ' until I became pregnant.. because it's TRUE. I could care less!

Chinese calender says we're having a boy.. so I'm sure it's probably a girl LOL

Mom2_my3boys replied: Oh me too! I hate it. What really sucks is that my b-day was April 17 and my DH got me a wrap for my diamond. It is sooo beautiful wub.gif I had to send it away to get sized and just got it backlast week. Now I can't get any of them on mad.gif It's not fair bawling.gif
By the way can you tell I like the smilies?!!

Kaitlin'smom replied: yep I started to swell in Dec. I had to take off the final band on my finger (my second on is bigger than the origninal) I was sad. I wore a rolling band ring that I usually wear on my thumb! It is weird the more water you drink the less you retain, I did find that to be some what true, when I was getting really swollen the last couple weeks I drank like 4 glasses of water in about 1 hour and boy did I feel some relief! It was actually kinda hurting to walk when I was so swollen so I drank lots of water and went to potty LOTS! wink.gif Hang in there it will go down after the baby is born. It took mine about 1 week thats when I noticed the most weight loss! tongue.gif

MomofTay&Sam replied: Just a note on my swelling. I never ever swelled until after the c-section and in recovery. The doc said it was normal and would go away. I had no neck no knees and no legs just looked as if someone had pumped me up. I stayed a week and went home, still swelled. This is normal says the doc. I was home one day and back in the hospital due to the severe swelling, I couldnt even walk. Swelling=childbirth=Congestive heart failure. I do not know or remember the medical term for this but the % is very high in women who have just delivered. They put me in ICU and hooked me up to everything, did u/s on my heart and both legs. To make this short they jumped the gun and with one shot all the swelling was gone in about 30 mins. I had serious pneumonia and the hospital sent me home that way. If you ever think the swelling is out of control please call your doc and get it checked. CHF could kill you before you know it. Sorry to ramble on...

taf2911 replied: Hello! I started really swelling with my first child when I was about 6 months. My fingers never did get all the way back down to size! Another thought about reducing water retention is soaking in water, either a bathtub or pool or something. Almost invariably, as soon as I'd get out of the tub, I'd have to go to the bathroom. biggrin.gif

Best wishes,
Tina

+Zemirah+ replied: I just wanted to add to the discussion a bit if I may smile.gif

You can alleviate a lot of swelling by taking garlic capsules each day (I think the label says 1 cap three X a day... anyway -- that dosage is just fine all through pregnancy). Also, watermelon, cucumbers (one very ripe cuke per day) reduce swelling as well. Make sure your nutrition is just a fantastic as can be, by following the Blue Ribbon Baby diet (Brewer's pregnancy diet, found here: http://www.blueribbonbaby.org/ifyouarepreg...nutrition.shtml ) This will help support your organs and tissues and help your body handle your expanding blood volume throughout the rest of pregnancy, and help you make sure your swelling is just normal swelling and doesn't become the kind of swelling related to Toxemia.

Another good way to alleviate swelling is to swim or to sit in a deep tub bath -- the water pressure forces the swelling down a bit smile.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Also, drink plenty of water!!!!! I'm on my 7th 591mL coke bottle (filled with water) as of yet...and I still have all night to go!

Hillbilly Housewife replied: That's 20 ounces in the bottle btw!
