11 month old climbing out of crib
flirtycuddle wrote: My son will be 1 on the 12 of July. Last night he managed to climb out of his crib. My daughter did the same thing and I moved her to a toddler bed at the same age cuz of it. I know my son is still to wild of a sleeper to even think of doing this so what can I do besides moving him. I know he's a monkey I mean i've caught him in the toy box just playing wiht everything and even in a cabnit in my kitchen that is just for them to mess with so am i doomed to have to move him over to a toddler bed at the same age?
MommyToAshley replied: Wow.. looks like you have a climber on your hands.
If you are afraid he will fall out of the toddler bed, then you could just put a mattress on the floor.
Sorry, I am not much help... Ashley stayed in her crib until she was almost 3.
PrairieMom replied: They make those tent things that go on top of the crib. I'll see if I can dig up a picture of what I am talking about.
PrairieMom replied: like this

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: My sister uses one of these to keep her cats out of Kenna's bed. I guess it would work equally to keep the kid in.
PrairieMom replied: OMG I just got a visual of a cat taking a running leap off a dresser and jumping onto one of those tents.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Jen's cat Farson has done just that. Then he tries to climb to the top to sit on it. Sliding down the entire time. It's hysterical. Of course, no one ever claimed Farson was a brain trust.
flirtycuddle replied: the way i have the kids room set up i would have to remove the crib all together and then just use a matress on the floor. Ill prolly just do that for him cuz i woke up this morning and he was on the floor playing while his sister was still asleep so he is climber for sure. I just cant figure out how hes doing it when hes not that tall or anything lol.
moped replied: Is sister helping him???
flirtycuddle replied: She was dead asleep and when I put him back in the crib she woke up cuz he screamed so we came out here for a few mins. I wanted to see if she was and the lil stinker got out again. He has nothing in the crib with him to use to help either. I know when his sister did this at this age she used the corner for leverage to get out but as for him I have yet to watch him do it to see what hes doing. Im gonna have to watch him today and try and see what hes doing but he doesn't even try while im in the room
moped replied: WOW - Jack was in his crib til almost 3 and he is very tall - maybe he just was adventurous enough....... You could ask him to show you how he gets out?
flirtycuddle replied: I put him down for his nap and before walking out said show mommy how u get out and he laughed, laid down, and went to bed. I swear now hes just messing with me.
grapfruit replied: Oh that's too funny! Good luck. You could chain him in! JK of course...
Calimama replied: I would go that route as well!
My3LilMonkeys replied: We had the same problem with Madison when she was about 14-15 months - when she stood in the crib the top was about 1 inch below her shoulders and I couldn't figure out how in the world she was getting out!! Finally I peeked around the corner and watched her and the little stinker could actually swing her leg up until her foot was on the bars and pull herself up and over - I had no idea a child could be that flexible!!!
Good luck with him - we had to put her in a toddler bed because I was so afraid she would hurt herself with the climbing out.
Bouncing3 replied: Both my son and my youngest daughter started climbing out at around 1 1/2 years old. My son is a hyper little wanderer, and he would sneak out of his room and instead of coming to wake us up, I'd find him in the kitchen in the pitch dark, getting into whatever it was that he WAS NOT supposed to be. I didn't even think to try of the tent.... We put a baby gate at his door that he couldn't climb over and that atleast kept him in his room where I know he was safe. He would call out to me, when he woke up the same as when he was in his crib.
flirtycuddle replied: I would just move him to a toddler bed but hes only 11 months old and i really wanted him to stay in the crib lol. I guess hes just a flexible monkey like his sister was
