I have a question that may sound offensive, but is truly curiosity. Why nurse so long? Is it a comfort thing or do children actually gain nutritional value from it? I'm not attacking your choice, I just really wonder.
six_kids_at_28 replied: I was wondering the same thing. Again, I'm not against your decision at all....just curious. Thanks Mollie!
Debra replied: Yeaaaaa! I am so proud of you for extended nursing! I wish it was the norm nowadays! Keep it up, momma!
MomToMany replied: I never really gave it a thought; I'm just doing what my instincts are telling me. I'm sure Kayla will nurse just as long too.
From kellymom.com:
"Although there has been little research done on children who breastfeed beyond the age of two, the available information indicates that breastfeeding continues to be a valuable source of nutrition and disease protection for as long as breastfeeding continues."
There's lots more benefits in the link for both child AND mom .
six_kids_at_28 replied: Wow! I never knew all that...I weaned my kids off at 12 months
