5 days, 3 newspapers, and 1 bag of flour

CantWait wrote: We're just about finished putting together a homemade pinata for Anthony's party this weekend, start filling it, and little bugs start crawling out puke.gif puke.gif puke.gif I kept shaking and shaking to see if they would all come out, but I'm just not sure. dry.gif

If I'm not getting anymore out do you think it's ok to use, or should I just scrap the whole idea?

This was the only game we were going to play, otherwise it was just going to be cake and icecream since he's only got 3 friends coming.

coasterqueen replied: Ahh!! What kind of bugs, like those little red paper ones you see?

CantWait replied:
They are reddish brown. There are such things as paper bugs?

A&A'smommy replied: WHAT?????

luvmykids replied: YUCK! Did you by chance check your flour to see if they're weevils? If so, they're gross but absolutely harmless. I have to keep mine in the freezer since we moved to avoid getting them.

CantWait replied:
Ummmmm no I haven't, I just opened a new bag for the latest layer on the pinata.

Gross I got to google that now blink.gif blink.gif

CantWait replied:
huh.gif I shouldn't have done that. Although I think the bugs that are in my pinata are a bit smaller, or look different. Regardless I think I may just toss the two bags of flour I just bought dry.gif

coasterqueen replied: I don't know if there is such things as paper bugs, but I've seen those little red bugs - very tiny - and they are always on paper - not sure why - only times I've ever seen them.

Yes, those flour bugs are GROSS. I barely keep flour on hand because of them. puke.gif

luvmykids replied:
Just stick it in your freezer....they're not usually there when you buy the flour, they show up later IME.

cameragirl21 replied: i too was going to suggest sticking the pinata in your freezer for a couple of days...whatever is brewing in it will be meeting its maker by the time the festivities roll around if you do that.

my2monkeyboys replied: I HATE flour bugs!!! My parents brought this cool bamboo music instrument for Will back from Jamaica a couple of years ago. He had it on his dresser for the longest time, then one day I noticed sawdust everywhere around it. Those wretched little bugs had found it and were drilling holes all in it!! I put in a plastic bag and stuck in our freezer for a week. All dead.
I would freeze it, then shake it out a little and fill it with candy the day of the party.

cameragirl21 replied:
whoa, now that sounds like termites...did you see the bugs? What did they look like?
Termites are a big problem here in FL and if you found them around that bamboo toy, it's likely you have them elsewhere in the house. They can cause serious structural damage so if you have them, I'd do something about it sooner rather than later.
Hope you don't have them, though, I've just never heard of any other insect that eats wood....

My2Beauties replied: ohmy.gif blink.gif huh.gif OMG flour bugs....WTH I have never heard of those things and I keep flour in my cabinet all the time...I'm grossed out now..seriously! blink.gif blink.gif

LovelyBear18 replied: I know what bugs you are talking about. They are very very tiny. I probably would have thrown away the pinata to be on the safe side. Never heard of putting it in the freezer. I'm guessing that will kill the bugs, but what if they are still in there? IDK. Regardless, I hope everything works out in time for the party.

Calimama replied: Gross, I'd toss it.

luvmykids replied:
I never, ever, ever had them until we moved. You'd know if you had them, I can pretty much guarantee you haven't eaten any without realizing it laugh.gif
