We're driving the 8-9 hrs to her house! Anyone have any tips on how I can keep the kids from complaining/fighting the entire time? We have a DVD player in the headrests so that should keep them entertained for a little while. And I bought them some new movies that I'm saving for the trip (so they will be new to them )
I guess I could get some books, coloring books.....take lots of snacks.
I'm so nervous!
mom21kid2dogs replied: Our library has books on tape for kids. We picked up a few last week because we were going all over the state for multiple hours and O LOVED LOVED LOVED them!!! She got Junie B Jones, Amelia Bedelia, and Magic Treehouse collection. O is a very poor rider~after an hour we always get "Are we there yet" but not once last week. The books on tape were a lifesaver!! Have a great trip. You'll have such fun visiting Naomi!!
Our Lil' Family replied: It'll be more like 7 hrs.....not so bad once you break it up with a couple stops! I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
luvmykids replied: If you get desperate you can do what I've done, stop at McDonalds for ice cream and some running around. And hopefully they'll sleep for some of it
Kaitlin'smom replied: deffinalty new things like form the dollar store, the new movies are good, snacks drinks, books on tape sounds like fun, maybe even a counting or colore game while driving like look for a cetain colore and tell me where you see it. Hopefully they will sleep some for you.
holley79 replied: That sounds like such a great trip. Things have changed since we were traveling kids, that's for sure. I really am totally clueless.

grapfruit replied: Yikes, no advise, just good luck!!!! I just drove 10-11 hours to and from NJ and wondered how to keep myself and my 17 year old brother entertained. PA doesn't have good radio stations and my Ipod got wet and wouldn't work.
GOOD LUCK!!! And HAVE FUN!!!!
3xsthefun replied: Sorry I don't really have any advice. But wanted to say Have a great trip!
Calimama replied: How fun!! Have a safe trip!
amymom replied: My son and I made up this game when he was about 4 yrs old and we still play it on long car rides:
It is Hide and Seek. How you play is: One person "hides" by selecting in their mind a place to hide... FI: Under the bed at Grandpa's house. Then it is like 20 questions to find them. "Are you hiding at home?"....Aunt Mabel's house?... in Grandpa's house?" Are you hiding on the first floor?...in the basement?... in the kitchen?... in the bathroom?... etc until you find which house, what floor, what room, what place in the room. Then the next person "hides". We have alot of fun and it passes the time.
We used places that the kids and we were familiar with, the aunt's & uncle's homes, places we live or work, or even school. As our kids have gotten older, we use places around the world. Of course with our son doing Global studies in school it has gotten more difficult for mom. He will hide in the Taj Majal or Buckingham Palace.
sparkys2boys replied: Ummmm can they count...lol... get them to count telephone poles!!! JOKING!! No tips, have a great time and take pics!!
My3LilMonkeys replied: It gets a little tedious after time, but we recite the alphabet, numbers, things like the Itsy Bitsy Spider.....ask questions like what color is that car, that house, etc.....and Brooke loves to ask where all the other people are going so I make up stories about the cars that we pass....
