A few things I learned during Katherine's - third birthday party.

2. Children do not come out of the womb knowing how to hop in a pillow case. The "potato sack race" was won by Katheirne because she is a natural hopper. The other kids really struggled with this one and many were actually scared to try.
3. Announcing "present time" and having all of the gift bags in one spot on the floor is not a good idea. I swear you'd have thought we had a bunch of football players lined up to go ransack her gifts. That was out of control! One girl actually was opening K's presents and pulling out the gifts before K even got over there. I would reccomend tying all non birthday children to chairs before announcing the gift opening.
4. Pin the tail on the donkey is a good idea...even if some of the kids cheat
5. Put all breakable toys away. Katherine received a toy vaccum cleaner from us the night before. All of the kids loved it and more than once I saw parts being ripped from it. Luckily it's a pretty sturdy piece of equipment so it's not actually broken but I feared for it's life.
The party went off pretty well otherwise. K had a blast.

All in all I'm glad everything went very well and Katherine had a nice party
amynicole21 replied: Hee hee! Sounds like a great time. I'm sorry I missed it
BTW, pin the tail on the donkey went over big at Sophia's party, too... and yes, most of the kids cheated
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I'm sorry it didn't go better than that. I'm sure K had a great time, though. Kids really don't know the difference. If we have a party here we have to clean out the playroom of all toys b/c kids will just stomp all over them.
coasterqueen replied: You had me rolling! Sounds like her party was a blast.
We only plan on two games...well they aren't really games. We are going to hit the pinata and we are going to play Elefun (butterfly theme, so I thought it would be cute). I think Kylie and the kids coming to hers are just too young for the games. Sounds like that was a good idea after hearing about yours.

Those are just the reson that I'm having Jasons kid party out at a playplace
jcc64 replied: I like the "tying non b-day kids to chairs" tip.
We NEVER allow the kids to open presents in front of other kids. According to Korean custom- it is considered rude to open a gift in front of the bearer. I never understood why my MIL always took my gifts and ran into the other room to open it. But it actually makes sense- if you hate it- you don't have to work so hard to feign enthusiasm. So although most of this is lost on a 3 yr old, I just have my kids trained to wait. For everyone's sake.
I recently saw a cartoon in the "New Yorker" that depicted Donkeys at a b-day party playing "Pin the Ass on the Human". Very funny.
jdkjd replied: Hee.
And the cheating on the Pin the Tail was actually pretty funny and not at all malicious. Have to admit Bailey tried to look and she still pinned the tail on his neck.
kimberley replied: you're too funny, Cary! and that was a given about present time! LOL do that with a pinata outside and watch the chaos that follows. they are savages!
Kaitlin'smom replied: thanks for the tips
