A kid hurt Mckaylee on the bus
mckayleesmom wrote: Today I walked out to get Mckaylee off the bus because yesterday she got in trouble for talking on the bus and I wanted to make sure that she was good today. The bus driver said that she wasn't and had to talk to her about hollering on the bus, but she thought it was because of the kid she placed her next to. Mckaylee was still walking from the back when I was talking to the bus driver and when she was comming down the steps she said "mommy, somebody hurt me"...The bus driver asked her why she didn't say anything when she asked her why she was hollering and she said she didn't know. Apparently the child she was sitting next to today was giving her indian burns..... The bus driver is going to investigate it and get back with me tomorow.
Mckaylee says that all the kids are doing them in school...
She was doing just find with the little girl she sitting with when the first bus driver had this run. It was the bus drivers daughter, but apparently she has been acting out recently and her own mom kicked her off the bus a while back. I think that once she stopped driving the bus all the kids sat wherever they wanted to and now the new bus driver has to figure out what works and what doesn't now.
Kaitlin'smom replied: what is an indian burn?
sheehs if its not one thing its another.
My2Beauties replied: I want to know why the kid's can't talk on the bus???
mckayleesmom replied: You don't remember Indian burns?
It's where you take somebody's arm and you put both your hands on their arm and twist in two differen't directions to see how red you can make it....
I'd like to get my hands on that kid and show him my skills.
mckayleesmom replied:
I don't know...I rode the bus as a kid and we were allowed to talk quietly and usually the roar of the bus drowned us out anyways, but they are not suppose to talk at all I guess and that is a tough feet for Mckaylee the blabbermouth.....I kind of don't blame her all that much though because she is on that bus for almost an hour and I don't see how any 5 year old can stay quiet that long.
My bus driver in jr high looked just like Otto from The Simpsons...headphones, long hair, and funky glasses.....
I can see being quiet when they stop to let kids off and when they need to stop at train tracks..., but the rest I find that they are being kind of anal...
Kaitlin'smom replied: no I dont remember them....I dont think we did that......OUCH
you know if Kailtin was on that bus she would be in trouble for talking as well, she is a chatter box, I dont get how they can expect them to be quiet, and she has to ride for 1 hour? wow thats a long time.
mckayleesmom replied: They get out at 3 and she gets home about 3:40 to 3:50 depending on how many kids get in trouble I'm assuming..
Kaitlin'smom replied: wow that is a long bus ride. I dont think I could keep quite that long either.
Danalana replied: We were big into giving each other Indian burns when I was little
Nina J replied: We used to do the Indian burn thing too.
I hope the bus driver sorts this out. Do you know if the kid who did it to her will be punished?
mckayleesmom replied: I'm assuming he will be punished because she said she would investigate and talk to me tomorow.
redchief replied: This is an Indian Burn (video - good ol' YouTube). I'm dumbfounded that kids on the bus are forbidden from talking. I have no recollection of a quiet bus ride in my lifetime.
A&A'smommy replied: Poor Mckaylee!!! Why can't they talk on the bus? That is REALLY unfair for them to not be able to talk on the bus I mean come on they can't talk ALL day except lunch and recess (what is that a total of 30minutes maybe 45??) until they get home. That is the dumbest rule i have ever heard!!
mckayleesmom replied: I'd like to get my hands on him to show him my mad indian burning skills.... I rememer being pretty darn good at them....although the people I did it to were participants, not victims and certainly not 5 years old...
boyohboyohboy replied: did you say she was walking up from the back of the bus? I think I would ask to have her kept near the front. in our bus, the younger kids are only allowed in the first few seats, although we have up to 5th grade on that bus too.
mammag replied: Well, I hope he gets punished. That kind of stuff is what I feared about putting them on the bus...
As far as the talking thing, I know on their bus they are allowed to talk but yesterday when they were about to get on she made an announcement that if everyone could not use inside voices they would have to start enforcing a no talk rule.
I can understand that personally. I know when I have all my kids and they would have their cousins in the van, sometimes the noise level would get so out of control that you couldn't concentrate on driving. Plus they have to be able to hear sirens or even to be able to discern whether it is talking or fighting going on. If it is so loud from chatter and someone started hurting someone else you may not be able to make out crying or etc. Maybe she has had a lot of trouble on that bus route and has had to go to no talking for a reason. Or maybe she has a low noise level tolerance in which case she should probably reconsider her job choice but at the same time, I'd rather have my kids safe and know she can just concentrate on driving the bus.
mckayleesmom replied: I just meant that she hadn't made it to the front of the bus yet...not far far back.
mckayleesmom replied: I talked to my neighbors little boy and he said that they are sometimes allowed to talk, but they usually lose their privelages because lots of kids disobey...so that makes more sense.
lisar replied: Poor McKayle, thats sad. As a kid we used to sing, and do all kinds of things on the bus.
