A question for those experienced - Hope it's not TMI

Okay, we are not officially ttc yet, hehehe. The only bc we've used is condoms because I always forget to take the pill and the one you can take while nursing you can't forgot at all, lol. Anyways, we leave for our canoe trip next Thursday and I'm assuming we'll have a bit of fun on it, . I'm not sure whether to take bc or not while we are there. We said we were ready to ttc once we go on this trip, but DH thinks we should take it with us. He's afraid that if we have fun and I'm also drinking over the weekend that I won't drink and have fun because I'll be freaked out that I'm pg. He knows me well, lol. But everyone I talk to, even the most strict women I know (hehehe) say that even if we did conceive on the trip that it takes awhile for things to implant, etc, etc, and that my drinking on the trip will not make a difference or harm. What do you think?
I'm not sure if it matters anyways, because I probably won't be ovulating then. I'm supposed to start 2 days after we get back from our trip so whatever happens on the trip probably won't get us pg, kwim?
Any thoughts?
I haven't really DRANK in a LONG time because I'm nursing. The *fun police* on our trip is going to make sure I have fun (lol) and I may not drink a lot but who knows if I'm missing Kylie TERRIBLY I might just drink so then I'll pass out at night and not worry all night about her, .
amynicole21 replied: Have fun... won't hurt a thing. Besides, I think we are on the same "schedule" and your fertile days aren't until the middle of July (15-18th???) . Even if you did happen to get pg, a bit of alcohol that early cannot do any harm.
aspenblue1 replied: Well I can tell you that I drank before I knew I was pregnant. I know a lot of people who have before they knew they were pregnant.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I've only planned one pregnancy and that was with Claudia. The first 2 were SURPRISES and before I found out I was pregnant I drank a moderate amount of alcohol. I wouldn't worry, it will not affect the baby at all.
kimberley replied: i wouldn't worry yourself about it. it doesn't happen right away and a couple of drinks won't hurt. when i got pg with James, i never thought i could get pg since i never got AF after Jacob and i went on a boat cruise and got loaded. i don't recommend it, but it didn't do any harm. hope you enjoy your trip.
Jamison'smama replied: I agree--I wouldn't worry about it at all!
momof2girls replied: I had a big bday party and drank alot then a week later found out I was 7 weeks prego, I never even got sick, anyways I totally freaked thought my baby was gonna come out with 3 heads, the Dr said not to worry but I still did. My baby is 8 months old and is fine. So if you have a few drinks all should be ok..
PS back in the 70's my mom had a glass of wine everynight she was pg and knew it... lol Im pretty "normal" if there is such a thing!
coasterqueen replied: Thanks everyone!
Woohoo! One less thing to take with me.

MomToMany replied: Well, I'll tell you something. When I found out I was PG with Ethan, I had a couple of drinks that day. I wasn't "drunk"; I didn't even have a buzz going. I had NO CLUE I was PG. I found out in the MAIL; I had some blood work done, because I felt so run down. The Dr. said that he'd call if anything came up, but he never did so I assumed everything was fine. So, I got the test results in the mail! I didn't know he did a PG test, either. And on the bottom where they can right a message it said, "Pregnancy test is positive" . Needless to say, I was freaking out a little over the drinks I had. But, it didn't hurt anything. I was about 10 weeks along at that point.
I wouldn't worry about any drinking that you do. Just relax and have a good time!!
Kaitlin'smom replied: oh have fun....dont worry about it I found out that i was PG in Sept by that time I was 41/2 months along and I had drank a few here and there, coures I was worried with all that I had done and not knowing that i was pg how she would be, well she is almost 1 1/2 and she is fine......have fun and if it happens then it happens and dont stress over it.
CMD3989 replied: I think you should go, have fun(i.e drink, have unprotected sex), MAKE THAT BABY!!!
Drinking shouldn't affect the baby any if you conceive on this trip. By the time you implant the alcohol should be out of your system.
Babydust to you!!!

A&A'smommy replied: awww actually I drank all LOT the night we concieved alyssa i didn't get drunk but I did drink a great bit of the heavy stuff UHH you need to go with your instincts I think. Take it and then you can always change your mind about not using it (even if your not in the right mind ) I hope you have a great time!
MommyToAshley replied: I guess I am the oddball. As you know, I am over-protective and over-paranoid and if I knew I was going to TTC then I wouldn't drink. (Or if I was going to drink, I would use protection and wait until another day to TTC) I know I would worry about it the entire time I was PG, so no sense putting myself through that. But, that is just me.
I hope you enjoy yourself and have a wonderful trip... you deserver it!
paradisemommy replied: i say.....go have fun and enjoy!! and leave those darn things behind!! i wouldn't even worry about it..i had an occasional drink when i was pg with taven and there were no repercussions!! (sp?)
Heather replied: I drank very moderately before I found out I was pregnant with both my girls. Everything turned out fine also.
GO AND HAVE SOME FUN!!
