AAGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH - I have to bury a cat

luvmykids wrote: And I really, really, really, really can't handle it. Naturally, DH is out of town.

Bogie got ahold of it, I discovered it about 5 tonight but didn't want the neighbors to see me do it because I think it's their cat and don't want them coming after Bogie. (Sorry if that offends anybody but it's how things around here go.) Plus it was in really bad shape and my mom thought after dark it might be easier to pretend it's something else:puke:. I was hoping she'd offer to send my dad but no such luck bawling.gif

But I still can't do it. I try, but it's freaky outside after dark anyway plus I feel like I'm in a spoof of "I know what you did last summer" or something.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: rolling_smile.gif OK I am NOT laughing at you but the "I know what you did comment' was pretty funny! rolling_smile.gif

On the flip side sad.gif I am sorry you have to bury a cat! sad.gif I am sure-if he is anything like Spot-he was 'playing' with it and got a little carried away. Wait til morning...I am a big chicken too and I would SO NOT be able to do it at night either unsure.gif

Mommy2BAK replied: Oh man, that stinks! But somehow you really made me find some humor in the whole thing. laugh.gif

luvmykids replied:
Well I am a failure laugh.gif I went out to cover it and deal with it in the morning and didn't want to get too close so I just threw the rag over it and of course missed growl.gif So I had to get even closer to get it off and try to cover it again and still didn't do a very good job. I don't know what makes me think I'll be any better able to deal with it tomorrow.

CantWait replied: Ok first off I'm really sorry, but the saga it really funny. hug.gif rolling_smile.gif
Hope you have better luck tomorrow. I don't think I'd be able to handle it either. sad.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: hug.gif How sad! I hope it won't be too difficult for you today.

sparkys2boys replied: Oh man thats terrible. Good luck with it, maybe you could just call your dad and ask him to help you out.. *hint* *hint* sorta thing.

my2monkeyboys replied: Yeah, I'd definitely be calling up pops! That's what they're there for!
Sorry, but this is really funny! laugh.gif hug.gif

lovemy2 replied: OH BOY - you poor thing - I am not sure I could deal with that either - but you sure live in a dog eat dog area huh rolling_smile.gif (sorry laugh.gif )

gr33n3y3z replied: I loved that movie lol

it may sound bad but just throw it in your trash can well in a trash bag and let the trash men take it ..... here you cant burry animals in the yard any more blink.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: I hear the Mission Impossible theme playing.............. laugh.gif

luvmykids replied:
We don't have a trash man, too rural sad.gif

I'm in the same boat I was in yesterday, trying to psych myself up is NOT working. I'm trying to talk myself into just getting a snow shovel, not looking, and taking it over behind some horse pens we don't use (where the kids and dogs don't go) and letting DH deal with the rest of it from there but I can't even do that.

I know I sound totally lame but I just can't do it. I lost my breakfast this morning halfway to it.

luvmykids replied:
You would have really laughed at me last night....I put on DH's cammos and night vision goggles so the neighbors wouldn't see me laugh.gif Not a good idea, the night vision not only let me see where I was going but made the cat look even worse puke.gif

moped replied: Are you going to tell the neighbors????

Just curious!

luvmykids replied:
No. I know how terrible that sounds, but first off I'm not 100% sure it's theirs, and secondly rural justice would mean they then come shoot Bogie. I figure, as bad as this sounds, in country living if you let your cats run wild it's a good possibility something is going to happen to them.

I know this sounds really bad but if they had kids I probably would tell them anyway, and if they ask I'll tell them, but I'm not going to look for trouble.

Thats why I didn't want them to see me digging a hole for it last night.

moped replied: I knew i didn't want to come back to read the reply to that - wink.gif

I love cats so that breaks my heart. I love big dogs too but some are scary to me tongue.gif

Anyways, hope it goes well.......

grapfruit replied:
I agree.

I had barn cats and sometimes they'd go missing. Sometimes they'd come back and sometimes, well they didn't. wink.gif But they're barn cats, you have to expect that. Now if it's my house cat, that's different.

We used to (notice used to) let my cat, Psycho, outside while we were out. Well this past Friday night we forgot about him. And he wouldn't come to us. I was standing by the back door watching Tim look for him in the neighbors yard w/a flashlight and saw him (the cat) leap across the opening between houses. It was actually very graceful, and funny emlaugh.gif . I learned my lesson. No more outside kitty! happy.gif

luvmykids replied:
I love cats too, I've always, always had cats. Until we moved to the country and there were just too many things that can happen to them besides dogs. My favorite cat ever got killed by a dog outside my bedroom window and this whole thing has had me bawling remembering that.

On the upside, DH doesn't think it is theirs because he swears it is almost all black, this one has hardly any black. Their dog practically lives here and they come get her at night, I would sort of think they'd come looking for their cat too.

It's horrible all the way around, there's a chance too that it was a feral cat and nobody even knows it's dead. I just hate the thought of the whole thing bawling.gif

Bogie got in a lot of trouble but I honestly don't think he was trying to be mean, he's a retreiver and that's what they do. He caught a rabbit once and let it go without hurting it, so I think he just wants to play and doesn't know he's too big.

lisar replied: Do you have any woods on your land? If so get the snow shovel pick up the cat and take it to the woods and dump it. I believe if you are gona let your animals run wild then you know the consequences of what can and can not happen to them. They shouldnt have let them run wild. I know my dogs would have killed it also. My dogs bring me birds and squirels all the time. (I know gross right)

But I am with you I wouldnt be asking for trouble.

CantWait replied:

Calimama replied:
laugh.gif laugh.gif

Sorry about the cat though. hug.gif

grapfruit replied:
He's a dog, doing doggie stuff. Don't be too hard on him. He may give you those sad puppy eyes and THEN what are you going to do??? laugh.gif

luvmykids replied:
We do, DH said to take it to the far corner of the pasture and dump it there where the coyotes come but I couldn't get it on the shovel good enough to pick it up. I did get it buried though. I'm really can't believe I did it, I'm still a little shaky. I know, I'm a complete wimp.

Calimama replied:
Then I'm a wimp right there with you. I would freak! hug.gif wacko.gif

punkeemunkee'smom replied: I am glad you got it done-I know it was a nasty job but I was going to send a search party out looking for you if you didn't post today! laugh.gif I laughed for about an hour lastnight at the image of you in your night vision goggles! I wouldn't tell the neighbors either...I can't count the number of cats we have had at our house-they are outdoor and with that comes the virtual garantee that between dogs, snakes, or coyotes, something is going to happpen to them eventually sad.gif that is just the way it is......

Boo&BugsMom replied: If it were my cat, I'd want to know. However, our cats are inside cats. Perhaps if people would be more repsonsible with their animals then something like that wouldn't happen. But, I know country living somewhat and I know in the country it can be different. Hubbys parents have two cats (well, one now) that roam free and aren't even allowed inside the house. I don't agree with it, but I can see how in the country things are a bit different than in the city. To each is own, but because of these types of accidents, that is why all our animals will always be indoor animals. Well...unless we were to ever get a horse or something that is. laugh.gif

If this were also me though, I wouldn't hold it against you or your animals Monica because I understand it's the chance you take when having animals like this outside roaming. I suppose not everyone is that understanding though.

gr33n3y3z replied: just toss it behind the old barn until your DH can deal with it or go dig the hole now then tonight you can scoop it up and toss it in the hole tonight then you dont have to look at it

grapfruit replied:
When I lived in the country we had outside only cats. I would have loved to let them inside, but they had no manners. If they so happened to get inside when you weren't looking, they'd jump on the counter and rip open the bread. growl.gif Cats on the counter is gross anyway! They'd rather be outside I guess. They were tough kitties. Most lived to be old.

But now that I live in town, I agree, inside kitty for me! Plus if you let your city kitties roam, your neighbors get mad b/c they poop in their flower beds and stuff. emlaugh.gif I only get mad when roaming kitties pee on my porch or something. mad.gif

Anthony275 replied: cant you just bring it to the vet clinic and they'll get rid of it?

Boo&BugsMom replied:
That is exactly why we had to get rid of an old cat of ours! In our neighborhood there use to be tons of stray cats from the neighbors roaming around. We moved, he started seeing the cats, then he became extremely territorial and started spraying everywhere in the house and we couldn't get him to stop. sad.gif

Oh...and they use to pee on my porch too! EWWW! I sat in it once. That was not fun. dry.gif

luvmykids replied:
I probably could have, but it's taken care of now sleep.gif

Anthony275 replied: well i hope you have that weight off of your shoulders
