punkeemunkee'smom wrote: I have been hearing nasty rumors of people having baby turanchulas (sp?) on their porches-makes the cow seem like a royal guest huh -anyway we have NEVER seen one close to the house but we have always had cats outside. Well our cat got boosted by the neighbors when they moved about a month ago and we have not repalced him. We are supposed to go pick up kittens on Sunday (More babies around my house ) Anyway I WANT MY BIG CAT BACK NOW!!!!!!! This was just crawling on the side of my house It was a baby one BUT where there is a baby there is a momma I am moving!!!!
Now keep in mind that this was a picture from my phone and I was about 15 feet away from IT....if you look under it's body it was big enough to cast a shadow under itself I sprayed it with wasp spray and yes I know they catch alot of bugs....they can do that AWAY from my house!
Danalana replied: I would attempt to move, but I'd probably die in a few short minutes after seeing that. I HATE spiders. They scare me sooooo bad
moped replied: Is that a tarantula???
Celestrina replied: *runs away screaming* I hate spiders too. We will get these tiny jumping spiders in our house and they creep me out; I can only imagine what seeing that thing up close and personal would be like. I creeped people out recently by telling them that I picked up a snake, I have pet rats, yet spiders scare me. If you need any help when you move, let me know and I'll help.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Jen I think it was a baby one....It was all big and hairy I have a friend who has had up to 35-50 on her driveway in recent weeks!!!!! They say they migrate thru here once every so many years and since it has been so wet they 'sun' themselves on the concrete when they can find it
Celestrina replied: *passes out*
cameragirl21 replied: i love tarantulas...i held one once, they are very soft and gentle. now wild ones on the other hand....idk about that. i think it's kind of cool that you have them around though, i've never seen one in the wild before...here we have wild lizards, iguanas, which i like, and cockroaches, which i hate. i'll trade you our cockroaches for your tarantulas because those i think i'd kind of like. if your cat eats it, won't it die though? i think they are poisonous....
moped replied: OMG that would be the end of me for sure!
You are a brave woman
Danalana replied: If anybidy ever wants ti kill me, just make me hold a tarantula.
redplaydoh replied: I'd capture it and make it a pet for my boys for a few days. In a cage of course!
gr33n3y3z replied: I would have that thing dead
cameragirl21 replied: i would do the same...try to catch and watch it grow. they really are very soft and furry. i wonder what i would feed it to keep it alive though? do they eat insects and vegetation?
luvbug00 replied: ditto to lisa!! EWWWWWWWW!

mom2my2cuties replied: It's kind of gross, the big ones, you can actually run over them with you car and they don't necissarily die.
Calimama replied: My house would be on the market.
3xsthefun replied: OMG! Eww!!
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Reminds me of the pic of the full grown one my dad sent about a year ago. And they wonder why I don't move to Texas. LOL.
lisar replied: That would be me. Forget those things I would have a heart attack.
Crystalina replied: I don't think they bite do they?
moped replied: Really? I would have thought for sure they bite!
Crystalina replied: I think only certain kinds bite but most tarantulas don't.
cameragirl21 replied: hmmm, i was sure they bite and that they are poisonous due to a series of B grade scary movies made about killer tarantulas...so i decided to look them up, thanks, Abbie, for inspiring an opportunity to learn. so here goes....too cool, btw, interesting info. people actually eat them. http://courses.ttu.edu/thomas/classPet/199...ntula/facts.htm
Crystalina replied:
So basically if you leave them alone they won't maul you.
Thanks for investigating Jennifer.
sparkys2boys replied: ok..im right there too... ewwwwwwwww
grapfruit replied: Still gives me the heebie jeebies!
amynicole21 replied: Yup - me too. I'd be dead before I had a chance to panic.
moped replied: So did you kill it?
luvmykids replied: I don't care if they're harmless or not, NO THANK YOU!
punkeemunkee'smom replied: We really don't see them all the time or anything here (now don't get me wrong we have some BIG spiders-but turantulas are not common in my area) But when I saw that bad boy I about crawled out of my skin Now down in south Texas Bill and I have been on a ranch at dusk and going down the road from the cab of the 18 wheeler you could see them crawling on the road where they come to stay warm when the sun goes down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was F R E A K I N G out!
moped replied: Oh Abbie - your stories are grossing me right out - I seriously have the biggest fear of spiders - why can't I stay away from this post??????? So did you kill the darn thing?
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Heck yes I killed it-Well I sprayed it with like 3/4 of a bottle of wasp spray so I hope it died! Ok off to mix up some big time bug spray and drench my house.....
