CantWait replied: Hon I'm so sorry. Have you tried talking to the company to let them know the situation? You'd be surprised how understanding they can be, even if all you can make is a small payment on the account. Hugs to you

TANNER'S MOM replied: Wow I thought you were all set.. with a nice place to live and everything. I know this might not be what people want to here..and I was once divorced with No Nice HOUSE! and you have to work.. not just wait on that check to come in.

Ask the electric company if they know anyone who offers emergency assistance with utility bills.. I know in this area there are agencyies who do that.

Actually they can and will. You NEED to cal them, DO not avoid them, (not saying that you are but if you don't answer collection notices adn such then they consider it advoiding and won't help you) they can be very understanding and will work with most families. Also contact your local welfare deptartment. They can assist with these sort of things. They can help with emergency shelter, fuel assistance and electricity adn such. Hope things improve for you... iI wasn't aware things were going poorly, I thought you had goten a big chunk of money as well. Hope they look up for you.

zdk753 replied: I just went through the same thing last month. My husband was supposed to be paying the bills & I came home to an orange tag on my meter saying I owed $700. As far as they not being able to turn you off yes they can. The only way they won't shut you off when you have kids is if the temp. is over 100 degrees. I called to tell them the same thing & that is what they told me & they sent me their pamphlet on it. I called them & explained it to them. I had to come up w/ $260 & was able to get mine turned back on. I just can't be late w/ a payment until it is payed in full. Hopefully if you explain the situation they will work w/ you. Like someone else said try your local welfare dept. Ours will pay so much of your bill if you have the disconnect notice. That is what I ended up doing.

I do have a nice home that is paid for. And i did think that i would have plenty of money BUT after going through court and mediation with lawyers i had to give what i did not pay my lawyer to the ex and still i am waiting on a court date to set up child support. I am working a full time job and looking for a 2nd job. Also i have called the power company and they say it HAS to ALL be paid by monday or they are going to turn it off. Sorry that i did not post about all of the money issues earlier i thought i did. The reason i have no money to pay the bill is i had a surgery 3 weeks ago and my doctor did not want me to work for 6 weeks but i went back to work this past week i had no choice KWIM? I will try and call the power company again and begg them to hold off until i get paid.

As a very last resort, there are always those cash advance places. They charge a good deal for their service, but at least you'll have power, right? Do you have any credit cards to pay this on?

No he could care less about us at the moment. I don't have credit cards but i have great credit and i might could go and get a very small personal loan Thanks i have not thought about that and if that don't work a cash advance would be better than no power. Thank you so much Amy
