Advice please - Only brutaly honest people
PrairieMom wrote: OKay, so I have a awards show this weekend, the "addys" which is like the emmys, only for our local advertisers. Its kind of a big deal esp with DH's job. We will see his clients, and friends, so I don't want to look like an idiot. So, this is what I have going on.
Which dress should I wear? or neither? which shoes, and is that wrap a bad idea? remember, its gonna be like 20 degrees that night.

Ben took the pics, which is why they look like they were taken from the ground, and why I look like I'm not ready for any of the shots. plus.. I have been up for 32 hours, so you know, I'm supposed to look exhausted.
Kaitlin'smom replied: out of the 2 the black and pink
shoes...hum I dont like the black ones but not sure if the silver goes, maybe I should see the whole ensamble....
my2monkeyboys replied: I like the black dress, wrap and silver shoes or the blk/pnk dress, wrap, black shoes. I SO wish I could wear dresses like that!!!
mom21kid2dogs replied: The black one is great (with the wrap) IF you have a good shelf for "the girls". Could be the angle but in the strapless they are looking real low If not, go with the black & pink. Silver shoe with the strapless and/or the black shoe with the pink & black.
My sister won several "addys" for the ad campagin O was in~it's a VERY big deal!! Good luck to your hubby!
PrairieMom replied: yeah, I def would need a better bra. I just have nothing to hold it up ya know? and I have to put those chicken cuttletts in to fill it out, but they are SO HEAVY. That is my next task. maybe tomorrow.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Thaw them out in the micro first, Tara~much warmer and not as heavy. They are a little more "drippy" though!
coasterqueen replied: Ok, I'm not much help and I feel terrible when I'm brutally honest but here it goes.....I would go with the black dress for sure. I think it looks more mature. The black and pink one doesn't to me. The only thing about the black dress that I would say is you need something to U P the boobs a bit more. see there I go, didn't like being brutally honest. I am no shoe expert, but I don't like either one of those for 20 degree weather. They scream spring or summer, not winter. The wrap is totally up to you IMO. You aren't wearing it to substitute a coat are you? Do you have a long black dress coat?
coasterqueen replied: I was so worried about being brutally honest about the top area, and someone already did it for me. Guess I should read before replying.
boyohboyohboy replied: I think the black and pink one is flirty and pretty but reminds me of warmer weather..do you ever have warm weather?? I like the black dress with the black shoes.. and you will probably get tired of dealing with the wrap...
I cant stop the mental imagine of drippy chicken now, and have decided on hamburger for dinner!!
luvmykids replied: IMHO, the black dress is a little more formal and more appropriate for that type of event. I'm not wild about the heel on either shoe, do you have anything a little higher? Colorwise, I like the black. I think the wrap is fine, just don't know how much warmth it will add, are you talking about having something to pull over your shoulders in case they have the a/c on, or are you always cold? If it's because you're always cold, I think I'd look for something a little warmer but still dressy, I have a beaded shrug type thing but it's angora so it's super warm, I'd look like something like that if it's warmth you're after.
eta: You have an awesome figure though no matter which route you go!
mckayleesmom replied: I don't know...both dresses look way to summery for me. You look great in both though. Do you have anything with a longer skirt?
Cece00 replied: 2nd dress, black shoes, wrap yes.
Good luck!
jcc64 replied: The cut of the second dress is wayyyyyyyyyy more flattering on you. The first one just doesn't fit you right for some reason. You certainly have a lovely figure, but the fit is not doing you justice. I'd go with the second one / black shoes.
My3LilMonkeys replied: ITA.
MoonMama replied: Out of the two, I think the black w/the wrap. As far as the cold grin and bare it.
Calimama replied: I'm gonna be really.. really honest.. please don't hate me.
Neither. The first one isn't right for your body type and it makes you look "pouchy" when you're very much NOT. The second one reminds me of a high school homecoming dance dress. Not formal and not adult enough IMO. Neither shoe. I'd go with a black knee high black boot or some awesome stilettos and a different dress.
I don't like the wrap either. It's hiding parts of you that don't need to be hidden and you look hunched over and hidden in it. You're gorgeous and you need a dress that shows that!!!
Our Lil' Family replied: ITA, not to mention you look more comfortable in it. I think the wrap would go nicely too. Although I'm not crazy about the black shoes, they would go fine.
A&A'smommy replied: pink and black dress, with the wrap and black shoes (the silver ones look odd with that dress)
Crystalina replied: I like the black dress WITH the wrap and the shoes...I'd say the silver but it looks like there is plastic on them? Ixnae on the plasticae. Wear the black.
ZandersMama replied: black and pink. definitely not liking the first one at all, the second one is hot!
moped replied: Brutally honest? The third picture is ok, but I don't like either shoe.....you need a higher much sexier shoe with any dress.
Crystalina replied: So funny!!!
I had this thread pulled up and the first picture was on the screen. DH walks over and said, "What's she doing?". I explained what you were doing and that you wanted help with a dress and he said, "Well, hopefully someone is nice enough to tell her she has two different shoes on."
I guess you had to have been here. It's was so funny because he wasn't trying to be funny. He was serious.
DillsMommy replied: ITA.
PrairieMom replied: alright, I'm going back out today. Hopefully I can find a different dress, if not in the very least a good bra. As for the shoes, I don't know if I can DO a higher heel. I will look and see, but my feet are still pretty stiff from my surgery, and it took me a while to be able to even stand with the plastic / rhinestone shoes on.
So, someone send me shoe suggestions.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Hard to say. I like the second one better on you but I don't know if it's really appropriate for the function you are attending. If you were going with what you posted I'd go with the first dress and black shoes because of the occassion.
luvmykids replied: I forgot about your surgery, you have to be comfortable. Maybe not a higher heel but a dressier shoe, like a pump of some kind.
coasterqueen replied: I agree. It doesn't have to be a higher heal at all, a pump would look great! Have you thought about jewelry yet?
PrairieMom replied: um... I have some from prom back in 95... they are black and rhinstone, I will try to dig them out after I get back from bra shopping.
lisar replied: I like the pink and black dress the best.
My2Beauties replied: The pink and black is more flattering on you but I don' tknow if it's right for that type of occassion so I'd go with the black dress. As far as shoes I'd do a closed-toed pump for that type of event, those scream spring/summer and you're gonna freeze your boo-tay off in those things.
