Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! - banging head

mysweetpeasWil&Wes wrote: growl.gif growl.gif Sorry.....had to scream for a minute!! growl.gif growl.gif growl.gif

Why is it that DH wants everything that is OUT OF STOCK in stores!!!?? smash.gif He wants that dang Wii and possibly an Iphone, and also the Trivial Pursuit Genus 5!! Not a $%& store in the city sells that TP! I found it on Amazon last week for $39 or so, but was stupid and waited until this week to buy it.....So now it's going for $75!!! And I swear I saw a ton of Wii's and Iphones at Sam's a couple months back, WHY didn't I buy it THEN?!!! bawling.gif I'm so sick of this! Ebay has hiked up their prices too, and Craigslist...well I'm not going to go to some strangers house with the kids! And now it's starting to snow, so I can't go anywhere. I'm such a scrooge, but I really hate this time of year (DH's birthday is on the 22nd). sad.gif

Sorry. I'm really ready to write DH a big IOU for AFTER Christmas!

HuskerMom replied: How frustrating! I hope you're able to find the gifts you're looking for!

luvmykids replied: I'm sorry hug.gif DH's bday is Jan 2 and there is never anything left after Christmas, I don't buy before b/c I'm spending all my money on Christmas and his bday presents are always lame blush.gif so I feel your pain.

I can't find any of those things around here either or I'd buy them and send them to you hug.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
That's why I'm so mad and frustrated. I want his birthday to be extra special since he always tells me how people used to say "your xmas gift and birthday gift are the same". People would combine his bday and xmas and only get one gift. Lame. So I always feel bad if I don't go all out. But like you said, I never have enough money to buy for both occasions. And I never think in advance to buy extra early. Now I'm SOL. bawling.gif I just called DH to tell him that I can't find that Wii anywhere, plus I can't go driving everywhere with the kids in the snow. He said I could get it for him AFTER christmas, but I know he's disapointed...so again, I always feel like his birthday turns out lame too. sad.gif They have a bunch on craigslist, but it really scares me to go over to some strangers house to pick it up. Plus, how do you know if they didn't repackage a defect? A lot of people want cash only. dry.gif

Anthony275 replied: oh god, try ebay for the wii. if it says "buy it now," do it
i didnt get mine from a regular store, i went to nintendo and got it
iphone, can't you order that from apple?
i thought he wanted an itouch?

amynicole21 replied: I read that Apple will be unveiling a new IPhone at their huge convention in January - I'd wait and not get one right now.

Sorry about the other stuff. I haven't even begun my Christmas shopping yet - I know I'm in for it. sad.gif

Anthony275 replied: rae try tracking the wii here
http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2549771

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
I get so frustrated with Ebay that I usually give up. I'm old school my friend. I like to walk in the store and get it, or just buy it from the internet with one click. Auctioning is not my thing. But I'll check it out. rolleyes.gif

Yes, he wanted the Itouch until I told him what you said. Same with the gamecube vs. Wii. I told him that you all laughed it was so old. laugh.gif He was sweet though, he said "I put the gamecube on my list because I didn't want you to spend the high price of the Wii, but yes, I want the Wii". wub.gif Anyhow, he still is unsure about the Iphone, so I'm going to wait on that. I didn't think to order straight from Apple. Thanks

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
It says "temporarily no longer available online"....What am I missing? wacko.gif

luvmykids replied: How much is a wii, before the price jackups? I'm finding some online but they're still $500+ sad.gif

Calimama replied:

ETA: we paid 350 and got extra controllers and a couple games.

CantWait replied: hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif Sorry Rae. I'm having the exact same trouble with Anthony's gifts. I did find one thing I wanted the other day, so there is hope. hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

Anthony275 replied: did my post get deleted?

the original price and current price of the wii is $250 and it's worth more than that wink.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Not deleted that I know. They are $249 here, I won't pay more unless it comes with a game or gadgets. I just went to Target in hopes that I just may get lucky, but nope. Same scenario, call early in the morning and come running in as fast as you can!!! Yay.

So to make me feel better, DH says he wants the Harry Potter audio book, Goblet of Fire. Shouldn't be hard to find, right, but OF COURSE they don't sell audio books at Target. Wish I knew that before I went. rolleyes.gif Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! growl.gif

luvmykids replied: The ones I saw for $500 were the console, controllers, and a "bundle" of games...I don't know if that makes it worth spending that much, but if you're interested I can try to find those sites again.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
No it's okay, I've seen those. Walmart's site has it. I know that the games and controllers will add up, but I'm not willing to pay for all of that at one time. Spread it out some. Thanks

Anthony275 replied: btw, wii comes with wii sports. theres a $50 game called wii play, it comes with another remote

btw, audio book..go to itunes..they'll have harry potter wink.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
DH isn't into sports video games. He wants Zelda and 007...can he get those games for Wii? Also, tell me furries, will I have to buy a bunch of other gadgets to even get the thing to work, like controllers and stuff? I want to be sure I get what is necessary so that he can at least play it right away. Just the basics, not anything super extra, just to get it to play, kwim?

ETA: Oh yeah, one more question because I'm a complete moron with this techy stuff....DH has an Ipod, do I steal his Ipod and download the Harry Potter straight onto it? Or is there another way? I want to be sneaky about it. And I don't want to just give him a gift card to Itunes.

THANKS! smile.gif

Anthony275 replied: well its tennis, boxing, golf, bowling, and baseball, you play with your character that you make of yourself for these. trust me, he'll likethat
um it comes with everything you need: nunchuk piece to connect in the remote(used for the boxing and othergames), the remote, wii, and the plugs & sensor bar. i have yet to buy anything else for my system lol
yes zelda is a hot game for the wii but there is a 007 game coming out for it soon; you can buy him a gamecube 007 game in the meantime and he can still play it. however you need a gamecube controllerto play gamecube games, buy one used for a cheap price

there is something called the wii shop channel- you can download old nintendo 64, snes, nes, sega, etc.. games for a price in "points." you can either: buy a points card at the store, or use a credit card to buy the games(range of $2-$5). new games get added every sunday

for the audiobook, you buy it in itunes and connect his ipod and it'll add it to it

i hope you understandeverything i wrote since i have no spacebar lol

MoonMama replied: I'm so sorry Rae. hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif hug.gif

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Oh good, so it comes with everything! I just hate when you get something technical and then you have to buy all these add-on gadgets to just get it to work. So I'm happy you are saying this. I know he HAD a ton of old 64 games, but sold them on Ebay back in the day. So you're saying he can use those on Wii? Sorry for all the questions. blush.gif

I'm actually bidding on Ebay for the Harry Potter as I type. Found it new for about half the price, that is if I win the auction. I'm TRYING!! wink.gif What do they cost on Itunes. It's around $56 or so for 12 CDs on Barnes & Noble.

Anthony275 replied: you can't use those on it, the wii only takes discs
it's downloaded on your wii, kinda like how you buy an album on itunes, ya know? its digitally saved on the hard drive

harry potter is $46.95 on itunes

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
Ah, I get it now! wacko.gif Digital, should of known. dry.gif Okay, so I'm getting a deal on Ebay with the Harry Potter then, wish me luck. Thanks again for the info! I'll let you guys know if I happen to get my paws on a Wii! GL to those of you also on the hunt! thumb.gif

Anthony275 replied: are you going out tomorrow morning for one?

Calimama replied:
My DH has Zelda. wacko.gif wacko.gif wacko.gif Is all I will say. I'll gladly mail it to you. I can guarantee *I* won't miss it. emlaugh.gif

Anthony275 replied: hey rae- yahoo read your mind
llink

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
Happy to read I'm not alone. wink.gif There are a lot on CL in my area going for a little over $250. I just don't trust it. DH doesn't either, so I'm not. He told me tonight that we should just wait until the craze dies down and then get one. So I guess I'm sortof off the hook...............Except that I don't have ONE thing for his birthday or Xmas yet. bawling.gif

Anthony275 replied: what happened with the iphone and book?

julesmom replied: Here's a tip on getting a Wii: (I am in NYS)

Call Toyrus or BestBuy Friday or Saturday. Ask if they are getting a delivery for Sunday morning. If they are, get to TRU at 6:30 AM or earlier. They open at 8am here. But people start lining up and an employee will come out and give you a ticket for one. Last Sunday, they only gave out 30 tickets. So the first 30 get one. #31 is out of luck.

BestBuy is doing the same Sunday morning thing. But they open at 10am here.
Get there around 7am and you'll get a ticket. They had 75 tickets last Sunday here.

You can get your ticket and go have breakfast.

They are selling them for $249+ tax.

Good luck!

moped replied:
WOW good info!

julesmom replied: Oh and FYI. You are only allowed one per person.

DH and I got one each this past Sunday. That was after I spent $400 for one off ebay! rolleyes.gif

But at least I had one. Now I have 2 to sell off on ebay. rolling_smile.gif
