Am I being unreasonable?

MommyToAshley wrote: DH wants a new laptop. I told him I am fine with him buying the new one as long as he sells his old laptops right now while they still have value. He thinks I am being unreasonable. I don't... what do you think?

boyohboyohboy replied: I totally agree with you.
my dh is the same way when it comes to electronics, he always wants the neweset and latest version.
and he is a gamer so needless to day I do get mad about the money that goes into those and then the new one comes out and he needs that..
he tells me that its his only vice and that some men drink spend the entire night away from their families, so that this is something I should just tolerate.
I guess I do, but I still complain about it.

TLCDad replied: Well this is going to be unfair... little unbalanced here. smile.gif

BAC'sMom replied: I am staying out of it

(whispers)Yes DeeDee your right wink.gif

DVFlyer replied: If there is no need for the other laptops, then you should sell them... better yet, donate them to a school etc. if their value is low enough to justify it. i.e. not worth selling but still a good computer.

holley79 replied: Nope not at all why does he need two?

CantWait replied: How many are we talking about?

redchief replied:
I have three old laptops here. Only one of which is... hold on that. No, that one doesn't work either, but it only needs a new hard drive. Now I should probably get rid of the brick whose monitor is being held on by velcro. Aside from all that they still work. Don't let them bully you, Rod! emlaugh.gif

jem0622 replied: I do not think you are being unreasonable. However...he's a developer, right? If so, then he needs to ensure that whatever he develops in one OS/platform will work on another. If he is that attached to the other ones, then it would seem that he doesn't need a new one. Vista stinks anyway! LOL.

lovemy2 replied:
I agree to get rid of them but if they aren't worth much I am with DVFlyer - there are many daycares, preschools, etc. that would LOVE to have someone donate something like that and you get a tax deduction - being self employed and I assume filing on a Schedule C? you get better benefit from them than the average tax payer wink.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Well, yes I would think he would need to sell the others before buying a new one. However, if he wanted to donate them, I know of a great charity to donate them to. It's for cancer patients.

I am staying out of this one.

AlexsPajamaMama replied: When my husband wanted an xbox 360 I told him he had to get rid of the game cube and ps2. The money he made selling the systems and all the games he put toward games for the new system.

LovelyBear18 replied: I agree with you, but for some men giving away their gadgets seems like a little boy giving away their toys and boys don't like that...lol
My fiance has 2 computers, one laptop and bunch of hard disks and he still want more for the collection smile.gif I'm stay out of it but I did give him wise suggestion.

MommyToAshley replied:
One of the other laptops is only 6 months old. happy.gif

Sorry Rod, I'd have to agree with the wifey here. ESPECIALLY if one is only 6 months old.

A man and his toys. laugh.gif
