Am I wrong in doing this

lisar wrote: Okay someone owes me a thousand dollars. And have owed it to me for a while. So I asked them for it this morning and they cant come up with the cash, but can on a credit card. They wanted to buy me whatever I wanted. So I paid all my bills with it. Literally.
Nextel
Electric for house
phone
satellite
and a payment on my Visa.

Was I wrong for doing that. They have owed me this money for over a year. So was I wrong in doing this to them. They have the money they just dont wanna come off of it.

Kaitlin'smom replied: nope IMO not wrong.

cameragirl21 replied: I don't see why, money is money, whether it's Benjamins or plastic. This way they can make payments if they don't have all the money upfront. And now your bills are paid. happy.gif

MommyToAshley replied: No, you weren't wrong.

I would have a hard time doing that to someone that was in need... for example, if they lost their job and couldn't put food on the table and were putting expenses necessary to live on credit.

But, if someone is living beyong their means by choice (which it sounds like this person was) and owes you money, then this may be the only way you are going to get it. Some people just don't understand the concept of budgeting. Bills should come before any extras, and the money owed to you should have been considered a bill. In my opinion, you were nice to extend them an entire year to pay you back.

grandma replied: Nope, I see nothing wrong with that at all. They must have offered to pay you that way, so now it's their problem and your paid. thumb.gif

A&A'smommy replied: nope I would have done the same thing

lisar replied: Thanks yall.

I dont feel bad now for doing it. They have the cash they just dont wanna come off of it.

My2Beauties replied: I wouldn't feel bad either.

CantWait replied: I would just cover your butt if you kwim. Get it in writting that that was the agreement, these people don't sound very trustworthy, IMHO.

Calimama replied:
I agree!

gr33n3y3z replied: No and don't feel bad about it either

jacobsmama replied: I wouldnt feel bad, in fact they should for not paying you that much for a year!!! Geesh..Glad you finally got your money paid off. thumb.gif

Sam & Abby's Mom replied:
They offered to pay you via credit card so you have nothing to feel badly about.

Nina J replied: I think it's perfectly fine. If I were in your situation, I would be happier with using the credit card to pay bills rather than getting cash, because I might have been tempted to buy something else with the cash.

They offered, and now your bills are covered. It's just a shame it took a year for you to be paid back.

lisar replied: Thanks yall. It just sucked cause my credit card companies wont take a credit card to make a payment. OH WELL. All the other ones are paid though. I just have to pay my visa and home depot. Everything else got paid.

mommymommy replied: You were not wrong in doing this. They borrowed the $ and should have made arrangements or a payment plan with you prior to this. I am glad that you got your $$ back, because alot of people borrow from others and then don't pay them back at all!!

lisar replied:
Its all good. I really honestly dont have to worry about that.
