Anatomy of a fued - Washingtons big mouth.
Crystalina wrote: Should ABC fire Washington from Grey's Anatomy over gay slur? I could see if this was the first problem with this guy but he has fought (physically) with McDreamy on the set and this is the 2nd time he has used a gay slur towards T.R. Knight.
I think if it's a first time thing no but he seems to have issues with the people that he works with. He put an apology out today but I really get sick of celebritys getting off on unexcusable behavior just by say that they apologize. I think they need to be hit where it hurts and that is their wallets. Give the money to charity for all I care but it's getting crazy. I think if you are going to be a celebrity you need to watch your Ps and Qs as my Oma would say. I'm sure if a cast member used the "N" word towards him he wouldn't like it too much.
gr33n3y3z replied: I'm not one for BS like that at all ppl. are who they are get over it Everyone is human and should be respected as such.
As for what to do about it Freedom of Speech is what they will say.
boyohboyohboy replied: I do think he should be fired....his behavior is unacceptable.
If it were a man, making negative comments about a woman, it would be sexual harrassment, and he would be fired....I know what was said was not the same, but it was harrassement and TR's work environment cant be comfortable.
Crystalina replied:
That's why I think he should be fired. The first incident between him and McDreamy was on the job...then when he was overheard calling T.R. the "F" word they were on the job...then Washington brings it up again at the Golden Globes and they were there because of their job. I can understand the whole "Freedom of Speech" thing if the racial slurs happend outside of a work enviroment but T.R. should be able to go to work and show up at an award ceremony without having to worry about hearing that crap. kwim? If it's said on a basketball court or anywhere else outside of work then he has the right to be ignorant but not at work or at a work related function.
Boo&BugsMom replied: I am all for freedom of speech. However, I also believe in respect. When freedom of speech crosses the line of respect, then something needs to be done. Also, who can really function in a workplace when someone acts so immaturely? He seems to have this "I'm a hotshot" attitide about him and it aggrivates me, to be honest. I love GA, it's one of my fav shows, and I think he's a great actor, but that doesn't mean he's a great co-worker or person. He should be reprimanded, just like in any other job.
gr33n3y3z replied: if they got rid of him I think the show would get better I'm sick of seeing him there anyway and they should get rid of ying or what ever her name is also.
Crystalina replied: I watched the scene between Burt and George last night and I felt so bad for T.R. knowing what was going on on the set. How must he feel sitting there doing a scene with a creep that called him a name like that?
I also think that they should get rid of Burt. He brings nothing to the show IMO. Maybe they'll kill him off with a nasty staph infection.
Yang I like only when she is interacting with the other characters. When she's with Burt it's so blah.
cameragirl21 replied: i've only seen the show a few times...which one is mcdreamy and why do they call him that? derek is the one they refer to as mcsteamy, right? why do they call him that? in principle i like the show, didn't know they had all those problems with that guy, he doesn't seem like the drama stirring type, really.
Crystalina replied: Derek is McDreamy and I'm not sure of McSteamys name. They are called that because they are "hot". I think George is the cutie on the show and didn't even know he was gay until last month.
The bully on the show is actually Dr. Burke. He is the African-American doctor.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Mark Sloan
my2monkeyboys replied: I thought he called him that on the set during the fight, but that he was only telling the reporter that he didn't call him that at the awards show. I didn't hear that he had actually called him that again at the awards show. I think he should be reprimanded in some way... but I obviously don't know enough about what's happened to give an opinion on what that punishment should be.
I'll be honest with you, I think it's awful that he would call him that, particularly since they must be somewhat friends having worked together so long and all. But I'm so tired of hearing people apologize for what they say/think. If he really means that he's sorry to TR, then tell TR that. As for public apologies, and needing to "get help to work through issues I have"... get over it. If everything that comes out of an actor's mouth can rip open "wounds" in the public around them, we obviously are the ones with the problems. They are just always so quick to jump to apologize to the world and to who ever heads an organization concerning what their statement was about. I'm just sick of it. Be who you are... get a backbone. Even if I don't agree with you, just grow a set already.
cameragirl21 replied: wow, so that guy picked a fight with dempsey? for real? over what? hmmm, maybe time for some anger management...?
gr33n3y3z replied: Maybe thats what it is I just couldnt put my finger on it she seems like a whole diffrent person
Crystalina replied:
Who know. Something about someone being late for to the set. I only vaguely paid attention to that one because I can see two guys being hot-heads once in awhile but when the same guy is involved in other spats something should be done.
my2monkeyboys replied: Oh, see from what I read (which obviously wasn't very thoroughly!) I thought that the reporter asked him about it backstage and he just said that he didn't call him that. That's just stupid for him to say it on stage! What a moron! I would say now that I think he should be fired. That has to cause a tense atmosphere at work to say the least. And him denying it just irks me. As I said earlier, be who you are and have a backbone!
ETA: In an interview with Patrick Dempsey the other week, he (PD) said that the original fight was over Dempsey being late. PD also said that he hadn't realized all the others were ready to go, and he was dragging behind a bit.
