Another double stroller question - UGH
moped wrote: So my husband and I are having an arguement because he doens't think I need a double stroller because Jack will walk everywhere - but I still take him to the mall and I won't just let him wander etc.........how old was your child when they stoppped using a stroller? I think there is a weight limit on strollers too????
lovemy2 replied: Well let me tell you - I resisted getting the sit and stand - still not 100% crazy about it for a couple reasons - the basket underneath sucks - can hardly fit a diaper bag under it and the seat only about 1/2 reclines which makes some sense cause the kid sitting on the little seat thing behind would be crushed but it still sucks when you have a little one who wants to sleep BUT that being said - I got soooo sick of getting Olivia in and out of the double and even though it was a really good one it was very hard to manuever, etc. because of all the weight - the sit and stand is very easy to manuever and Olivia can get on and off, etc. She is 5 now and I let her walk on her most of the time but she has NEVER been a kid to take off - watch next time I go to the mall she will take off like a bullet - it would be my luck lately - any wood around here to knock on....
moped replied: Well I don't necessarily need a double sit and stand - but a side by side even - i saw a nice one yesterday but it was 600.00 NO WAY!!!!
Ummmmmm must look
Show me what you all drive around!
gr33n3y3z replied: I cant stand side by side double strollers For one the ppl. driving them think they own the isles at any store they go to its like move out of my way and they are so big its only enough room for them only
moped replied: Right! I was thinking that as well.......even a jogging stroller is a bit instrusive isn't it????
ediep replied: we have a sit and stand stroller for when we go places with a lot of walking... like an amusement park, but for the most part Jason won't sit in a sroller anymore
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Jen, check out eBay. Tons of double strollers for under $150.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Brooke stopped going in a stroller at about 2 1/2 and Madison has been done practically since she could walk unless we are walking allllll day (or if she misbehaves at the mall I will rent one and plop her in it, but that's punishment to her). My kids just never liked strollers.
We had a standard double (one in front of the other) that we got for $10 at a yard sale. I have no idea if it was any good, I think we only used it twice.
Cece00 replied: My older 2 stopped riding in the stroller when they were about 3. Natalie still rides in the stroller, she is almost 2.
CantWait replied: Anthony is 4, we don't use it that often.
maestra replied: Jaci was about 3 1/2 when she stopped using the stroller- she just didn't fit anymore. We have a graco, with one seat in the front and one in the back. I loved it- especially if I was going down the street to get the mail, or taking the kids to the park. We paid about 170, I think. We got it a Burlington Coat Factory. They are a good place to check.
lovemy2 replied: The sit and stand isn't a double sit and stand - there is only one seat and then the bench and platform to stand on behind it? I think you posted a picture of one something like it before....I think it is good cause there is a place for the older one to sit or just stand and ride if they get tired...and it isn't quite as big as a double...
KingMom replied: Jen -
We have the Combi side by side. I love how easy it folds up in the car and has a strap to carry it over your shoulder if needed. Lauren loves to ride in it next to Colin, she thinks she is such a big girl. As an infant it worked fine for walks too, since it lays flat, she could sleep.
The small wheel make it hard to "drive" on rough areas like gravel, etc. I've had no problems getting into stores, etc. Most folks around here are nice enough to even hold the door open for me.
The biggest issue I had was the canopy did not come over the children far enough to really protect them from the sun enough. Was a big dissappointment to me. We actually use the single stroller for Lauren more and Colin either walks OR uses the umbrella stroller if we're all together. We use the double stroller about 50% of the time and maybe 10% of that Colin decides to get out at some point.
I'd rate it 3.7 out 5 though I've not used other double strollers to compare.
Here's a pic...
moped replied: I will check this one out........I haven't seen it before - $$???
KingMom replied: $200.00. Here's a link to Babies R Us where I got it. Looks like they now come in an turquoise color...I like it. there also a link on there with 17 reviews.

gr33n3y3z replied: yeah I think those are also even tho they are thin in the front they are still wide in the back but not as wide
Farelle replied: We have a double (front to back) Graco stoller that I LOVE. It has plenty of room underneath for everything from a diaper bag to groceries when I jsut need to run in and grab a few things. My boys are 3 and 1-1/2 and both still ride in it no problem. I let my older choose which seat he wants to keep him happy at times but he's always been good about riding in the stroller. We also have a umbrella side-by-side on that we got at a tage sale. I don't use it as often because it is so hard to go anywhere with it. You can't even fit through a door with the side-by-sides, nevermind an aisle at the store. What I usually do is keep the double stroller in the car and the single umbrella stroller to for those days when I just don't want to pull out the big one or my son wants to walk with me instead. Overall though I have been very happy with the double and have used it almost every day since I bought it! Hope that helps!
moped replied: Shoot - they don't ship to Canada and the canadian website doesn't have it - let me do some checking - I like this one! DOes it fit the infant carrier by chance?
KingMom replied: You know I never tried out carrier (by Graco) but recently I saw somone that had thier carrier on it and it looked fine. Can't promise but good chance it will.
If you love and decide to buy, I'd be happy to ship it north!
moped replied: I am sure it would cost a fortune - I need to do some reserach ont his.....you are too kind. I will get back to you. This is my favorite so far!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: We have that exact (except in blue) double Combi stroller. It is nice and light weight and folds up really well, but hard to steer sometimes. It goes through doors fine, but not always through tight aisles. Some stores are just not meant for moms with strollers I guess! I do love all the features on it though...Mine may be the next step up from the picture because it has large canopies that go all the way over. It also has snack trays and a cool bag type thing on the handle for my keys and water bottle. Let me try and find a pic....
Anyhow, since Wil and Jack are close in age, I would have to agree with you Jen, not Tom, that Jack will want to cruise around WITH the baby. There is something "cool" for a three year old to still ride in his stroller, especially with baby bro/sis nextdoor. Wil gets mad if he has to walk sometime if I only take the single. Wil and Wesley do fight while in the double and that's why I hate the side-by-side, but a friend told me she has the front and back and her girls (same age as mine) still fight that way. So I just don't know which would be better. I personally like the side-by-side because the other just feels like a boat IMO.
What I love about the Combi is it has really easy harnesses (5 point) and it has the boot (I think that's what they call it) for the infant. So there is a velcro piece that makes the bottom of the seat into more of a basinett, this way they can't slide through. That was a life-saver, especially when they are so little and it's cold out. Nice way to hold the blanket in place.
Here it is...COMBI TWIN SAVVY EX
ETA: Mine does NOT take the infant carseat, but like I said, the five point harness and boot feature was just enough. I put Wesley in there when he was only a few weeks old and it worked fine. Weight distribution was just fine.
KingMom replied: The didn't have the EX when I purchased mind, boy I wish they had! the cupholders would have been nice and the bag for keys and stuff!
luvmykids replied: That is what I had and loved it, I think it was called and easy glider or something....It was a very, very smooth ride, easy to push, lots of storage, and even had a cupholder for me. Very easy to fold and set up.
I really didn't like any of the side by sides and at the mall could never manuever in the racks of clothes.
None of my kids used one past about three, Macie quit even sooner than that. Once in awhile for a long day at the fair or something she'll get in one for a bit but thats her max
