Ant bites.

amynicole21 wrote: Sophia got bitten by ants on the playground at daycare yesterday morning. sad.gif When I went to pick her up in the evening, there was an incident report about it. They had put ice on her hands and "gave her lots of hugs." Her hand was swollen and red, and there were little blister like bites all over it! My poor baby!! bawling.gif It doesn't seem to be bothering her, which is surprising for how bad it looks. I just got a call back from the Ped and they said to use calamine lotion on it. I just feel so badly for her - she doesn't know why she hurts, only that she has pain! Waaaaaaah!!!! bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Aweee! Poor Baby!

Does she still put her hands in her mouth a lot? If so, is it safe to use calamine lotion on her hands? I guess the Ped wouldn't have said to use it if it weren't safe?

I hope she is feeling better soon.....

momma2jenna replied: aveeno makes a good anti-itch cream, but like the others, not if she puts her hands in her mouth.
sorry for poor baby girl. sounds like fire ant bites, did you ask them to make sure they kill the mound over the weekend if there is one?

chloe&tysmommy replied: aww, poor Shopia...big grouphug.gif for you!!!

amynicole21 replied: The ped did say to put on the cream when she was sleeping to minimize the possibility of her injesting some of it. I'm not sure if they are fire ant bites, because they really aren't as big and nasty as the fire ant bites I have had before. They are little pimple like bumps rather than blister sized... sad.gif I hadn't asked them to kill the mound yet, but that's a good point. Wouldn't pesticide be dangerous for a playground, though? I guess it's dangerous to have ants out there, too... unsure.gif

paradisemommy replied: awee poor sophia..i know ant bites drive me nuts when i get them..i can't stand to see little ones in pain bawling.gif

MomofTay&Sam replied: ohmy.gif Oh no poor Sophia. sad.gif I wish I had a remedy for you guys. Sending lots of hugs Sophia's way. {{{Hugs}}}

ediep replied: awww poor Sophia! Hope her hand feels better soon

maliksmommy replied: Big hugs to Sophia grouphug.gif I hope they get the ants taken care of before it happens to another sweet kid

MomToJade&Jordan replied: Oh poor baby. grouphug.gif I hate ant bites especially on the hands and fingers because they always seem to itch more. They sound like red ant bites to me. I never got large blisters from red ants just the small bumby kind. They are going to have to do something about the mound if it's at the daycare. They will probably just have to keep the children away from that area for a while.

momma2jenna replied: amynicole21, yes I'm sure pesticides would be bad, that's why I thought maybe they could put it on friday....'course, I think they do make some pesticides that you water in, in the ant bed huh.gif
bad ole @#$%%^$#ants!

supermom replied: Poor Sophia - I know we've used a soak in Baking Soda water, and sometimes that helps with the swelling and itching too - but that is not fun to get bit by any kind of bug!
