Anthony - (furries)
luvmykids wrote: I didn't snap on the name change, I saw one of your posts and thought "Heyyyy...that guy has the exact same siggy as furries" I'm a little slow today
Anthony275 replied: i knew this was going to confuse people
MyBabeMaddie replied: Is that you in your signature picture?
Anthony275 replied: thats jim morrison
Calimama replied: I asked that too.
bawoodsmall replied: my goodness you ladies are showing your age.
Anthony275 replied: well he died in 1971 so that could explain things
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Yeah, but I wasn't born until 1976 and I know that's Jim Morrison.
bawoodsmall replied: 1975 and me too.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: 1982 here and I knew that.
moped replied: He died the year I was born!
CantWait replied: 1977 and I knew
Anthony275 replied: 1990 and i knew heh
Danalana replied: I knew it was Jim Morrison, too And And Anthony, you didn't confuse me...I knew it was you!
Calimama replied: Well I was born in 1987 and I didn't. I still don't know who the guy is.
Anthony275 replied: http://www.thedoors.com/ now do you know? oh man, i forgot his birthday was the other day
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Come on baby light my fiiiiree......
it's CLASSIC!
Anthony275 replied: believe it or not i dont like that song very much
luvmykids replied: I don't either, never have.
And for the record, I was born in '72 but didn't know who he was until I was in my 20's
Anthony275 replied: wow you were late, i knew who he was when i was 9
Hillbilly Housewife replied: about there too... lol
my dad used to listen to their music all the time.
Anthony275 replied: i remember listening to cream when i was 5 or 6...explains why im seeing clapton the third time this winter
luvmykids replied: My dad was more of a Zepplin fan
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Oooh I like their version of House of the Rising Sun better than the Animals
Anthony275 replied: they didn't make that- i believe they were before the animals
i like zep too i saw robert 2 times already and will be a third when led zeppelin comes to nyc which is happening soon
Hillbilly Housewife replied: neither of them really wrote it... the melody was written in the 17th century..it was popular in British brothels.
The original lyrics are somewhat different than the more modern adaptations... here they are:
There is a house in New Orleans They call the Rising Sun It's been the ruin of many a poor girl And me, Oh Lord! was one
My mother was a tailor, She sewed them new blue jeans. My lover he was a gambler, Oh Lord, Gambled down in New Orleans.
My lover, he was a gambling man He went from town to town; And the only time he was satisfied Was when he drank his liquor down.
Now the only thing a gambling man needs Is a suitcase and a trunk; And the only time he's ever satisfied Is when he's on a drunk.
If I only list'nd when my dear mother said: Beware, my child, when you roam, Keep away from drunkards and all those gambling men, It's best by far to come home.
Go and tell my baby sister Never do like I have done, But to shun that house in New Orleans |: That they call the Rising Sun. :|
With one foot on the platform, And one foot on the train I'm goin' back to New Orleans To wear the ball and chain.
I'm going back to New Orleans My race is almost run; I'm going back to spend the rest of my life
SO FUNUH. But the Animals is who most ppl think wrote it..truth be told, they just made it popular in the US.
Anthony275 replied: thats the yardbirds dear
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Nope... they just used that version.
Anthony275 replied: ok next topic please i dont like that song either
Crystalina replied: I thought 'Furries' was a woman all this time also. It wasn't until the other night when I was talking to him on Yahoo I figured out he was a guy. For some reason I thought he was 'Flirty Cuddles'. I don't know why.
Anthony275 replied: lol why would she be posting on two different usernames
Brias3 replied: You sound like my husband- he lives and breathes Slowhand Clapton tix were his birthday gift last year and even I have to say, the show was simply amazing.
We saw Robert Plant over the summer- I've never been a huge Zeppelin fan or a fan of his solo stuff, but have to admit some of these guys can still put on one heck of a show!
Boo&BugsMom replied: Sorry, it was funny and had to laugh.
Boo&BugsMom replied: 1977
Gosh, I feel old.
luvmykids replied: Me too, Anthony was born the year I graduated high school
Boo&BugsMom replied: That would mean he was 5 when I graduated. Oh my, I need to stop thinking about it or else I might start to see gray hair.
Anthony275 replied: i was probably born within the same week you graduated
Crystalina replied: No...I thought they were the same name. I guess I never paid much attention. When you said you were a guy I automatically thought of her because she's on my MySpace but then I realized that you were 'Furries' and not 'Flirty Cuddles'. I'm just really bad with names.
Anthony275 replied: well now im more confused than before but its ok
PrairieMom replied: I knew too. He was one of the Beatles right? J/K
Anthony275 replied: this thread feels like a history lesson
jcc64 replied: I didn't know you were a guy either! A few weeks back, I posted to you in the What are you listening to right now thread- not sure if you ever saw it. Basically what I said was that you have the best taste in music, and I was curious (still am) about how you've come to like all the old classics, being as young as you are. I am wayyyyy older than everyone in this thread (I was born in 1964), and was probably on my 100th Grateful Dead show by the time you were born. Your attraction to The Dead in particular is a curiousity to me. Jerry was probably already dead by the time you started listening to their music, right? And though their recordings are fun and all, you really don't get the full experience w/o going to a real show, with Jerry. I can't bring myself to go to the shows with the surviving members- it just makes me wistful. So, how old ARE you anyway, and what are you doing hanging out with a bunch of moms who don't even know who Jim Morrison is?
HuskerMom replied: I didn't know you were a guy for a while but then when you put Italian stallion under your avatar thing I assumed you were.
Anthony275 replied: jerry died in 1994 right? i think it was 1994 or 1996 but that was a few years after i was born so yea um my teacher last year asked me if i like the grateful dead, i didnt know what they were so i downloaded their stuff and well now i like them; kinda like what ive done with everything else basically im only 17 but that shouldnt stop me from listening to music, right? you have to remember that a lot of these bands are coming back and younger people are listening to them now go back to the music thread, somebody told me to post 20 of my songs in itunes on shuffle..i lost my concentration and put 120 so that will be fun for you to read
HuskerMom replied: That's true. We went to a Metallica concert a few years ago and there was a guy that was probably in his 40's that had been a fan since they started and he said he couldn't believe how many teenagers there always are at their concerts. And the way most music has gone the older stuff is better anyway, in my opinion.
jcc64 replied: I'm just in awe of the fact that someone your age is able to appreciate this kind of stuff. I think it's GREAT, believe me. Most of the bands that you're into were unbelievably talented musicians. I don't want to start a culture war here, but some of the artists today are so into the smoke and mirrors- the technology, the BIG shows with the choreography, the dancers, the effects, etc, that it's easy to lose sight of the musicianship, or I should say, being an amazing musician is no longer necessary with all the other distractions, kwim? Now the Dead, for example, you'd go to a show, and there's these 6 kinda ugly guys in t-shirts, just standing there for 3 hrs. Yeah there was a light show, but it was decidely low key by today's standards. But my god could these guys just BLOW YOUR MIND with the music. Some of the best nights of my life were at Dead shows- just unbelievably intense experiences. Anyway, if you're REALLY interested in their music, you've gotta listen to the live stuff, especially from the 72-76 period. Let me know if you want some links- my dh frequents alot of Dead fan archives- he literally has thousands of recordings.
jcc64 replied: Are you into Lucinda Williams at all?
Anthony275 replied: i have no idea who that is
most of my 57 dead songs are live, i know what you mean about the concerts now of great artists, claptons one of em but i love him anyway
theres tons of artists i like today, not a lot of people have heard of them (ima robot) but my god, if you saw my itunes you'd be blown away
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Yeah, I literally LOL! What, did some of you think the cute little dancing bears in his siggy were Care Bears?....LOL Okay, sorry to laugh, but some of you are making me feel old!
Anthony275 replied: wanna know something really funny? somebody PMed me asking if they were from a cartoon. no joke

grapfruit replied: I actually agree whole heartedly w/you. I'm 23 and listen to TONS of older music. Tim is a big fan of Megadeth (he likes metal ) and loves that Dave Mustaine in an interview told the interviewer that the reason there aren't any great guitar solos anymore is b/c today's bands have no talent. Something Tim agrees w/when he's learning songs on guitar. He gets bored w/"today" music b/c it's way to easy for him.
I love bands like Jefferson Airplane, ANY Clapton (in any way shape or form ), Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, LOVE LOVE LOVE James Taylor. I have only one friend that has the same taste in music.
I guess I like it so much b/c my mom used to sing it to me when I was little (her's too). Her first concert was Greatful Dead. Anyway, the music makes me feel really nostalgic and just really good inside. Lord I'm a sap!
Oh speaking of Morrison, has anyone seen The Doors movie?? Val Kilmer does a GREAT job of playing Jim. He looks JUST LIKE HIM. And I think they said 90% of the singing is really Val.
Jackie012007 replied: add me to the list - I'm 23 and like the same. HUGE James Taylor fan - we saw him in concert at the State Fair in Syracuse last summer, it was AMAZING. I love Clapton, Plante and Page, The Doors, Steve Miller Band, Led Zepplin, Jim Croce, Janis Joplin, etc. It is what I was raised on - I loathe todays "in" music . DF listens to rap, it drives me crazy!
redchief replied: I remember when Jim Morrison died. I really didn't get the whole uproar at Morrison's passing, because I never really like the Doors, but I remember that a lot of my peers were really upset. I was such a straight-laced kid that I never got into the "weed generation" faves. That's what happens when you're brought up in a conservative cultural atmosphere. As I grew older my tastes turned toward more heavy metal music so the old psychedelic bands never found a niche in my go-back list.
Anthony275 replied: i supposively got 5 tapes of the doors (6 actually came in the mail) for $8 on ebay and it had the doors movie in it. the last time i watched it was 2006, i didnt like it at all; val kilmer was too dark toned for the role of jim, whereas jim was really white skinned. only watched it once but i do love my other videos i got
btw, zeps going to do a world tour!
grapfruit replied: I'm there. I'd LOVE to see James Taylor in concert *sigh* It'd be amazing. He's so amazing!!!! And Clapton too!!!! Tim said he'd literally kill to see Pink Floyd. I have to admit, I'd really like to see them too.
Sometimes I feel like I was born too late. I missed all the great music.
I love the Eagles and stuff too. My mom used to sit on the couch and play her guitar and sing. It's been forever since she's done that. *sigh*
I should see if she'll play for me again. I got Tim a 12 string acoustic guitar for Christmas and she thought it was beautiful. But didn't want to take it out to play it (it's not wrapped yet). She says b/c she didn't want to tune it (I guess 12 strings is a bit much to tune, especially when you haven't played in such a long time)
Crystalina replied: I was never really a 'Doors' fan. I'm 34 so I was raised on the "old" bands. I prefer Janis Joplin, The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac (<--Love them!) and some Ozzy (the tamer ones ).
Anthony275 replied: ozzy's legit, i dont know why people think his music is too "hard" he has a great voice
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I think he got a bad rap back when I was a kid and someone said he bit a head off a rat or something at his concert. That's all I remember...and so I thought he was hardcore ever since. It wasn't until I heard his music when I was in my late 20's that I realized he really is pretty harmless.
I'm a huge Fleetwood Mac fan...But I'm talking back when we had records and earphones that were as big as Princess Leia's buns, HAIR buns.
Never really was a Doors fan either, but I know who Morrison is. I went to HS with the nephew of Jim's girlfriend, the one portrayed in the movie. At least that's what the kid said.
Anthony275 replied: my 10th grade history teacher's brother in law went to high school with jim
ozzy bit the head of a bat, and a dove. jim morrison also flashed a huge crowd once while he was drunk, got arrested, and had the rest of the tour cancelled but you dont see people hating him
Maddie&EthansMom replied:
Nothing compares!!!
I was raised on this music. Zeppelin is by far my favorite, though.
Anthony275 replied: anybody ever listen to love?
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Hee hee - I saw Pink Floyd years ago...with my mom. I also saw ozzy last year? maybe the year before? Also with my mom.
My mom's wierd. I like hangking out with her.
My2Beauties replied: I was born in 1980 and I know who he is, don't know a lot about his music but I definitely know who he is.
redchief replied: Just a point of order:
Jim Morrison did indeed expose himself at a concert in Miami, March 1969.
Ozzy Osbourne never bit the head off a live bat in concert - this is an urban legend. While these weren't mentioned in this thread, it's worth noting that this vilification rumor has made the rounds and the following renditions are also not true: Marilyn Manson did not throw puppies into the crowd with orders that they rip them apart before he would continue the concert, and Alice Cooper did not do something similar with kittens.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Ed is right. Ozzy never bit the head off of a bat, it was actually rubber and he used fake blood in his shows while pretending to bite the head off. He DID bite the head off of a dove though, but it was an accident. (This is how the bat head thing al lstarted actually) He thought it was fake, someone told him to bite the head off, thinking it was fake he bite the head off. It was in his VH1 Behind the Music. I watch those all the time.
Just for a little bit more trivia and useless knowledge...Alice Cooper is a born-again Christian. Wasn't always, but he is now. Anyone else have some useless music trivia? I love it!
Anthony275 replied: robert plant's son did die from a stomach infection
