Any idea what this is? - *pic*

Danalana wrote: I have noticed these nickel-sized dry splotches on Kade's bottom lately. he has them nowhere else on his body. he doesn't really ever get diaper rash, so i don't use anything for that. I don't use powder--only wipes. I happened to think that I never put lotion on his bottom, though. After his bath, I always put his diaper on and then his lotion, so his bottom misses it. Does it look like dry skin? I've never seen it and he doesn't seem uncomfortable in any way. I just put lotion on his bottom, so I hope that helps. Anyody know what it is?

Thanks for looking!

AlexsPajamaMama replied: looks like dry skin to me

Danalana replied: Thank you smile.gif It feels dry when I touch it.

lisar replied: To me it looks like really small case of diaper rash.

BabyOwen427 replied: It may be eczema. I'd lotion it after bath with the rest of his body. When Owen was his age he got the same kind of rashes. It went away when I moisturized him twice a day. So usually I'd lotion after bath and again during morning gettin dressed time. If it gets redder try Desitin or Balmex those are the best IMO. If it doesn't clear in a few weeks mositurizing then I'd call the doc. Good luck with it.

BTW: Cute baby bum wub.gif

Danalana replied: It looked lots better after 1 application of baby lotion smile.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I agree it definitely looks like eczema. Try aquaphor if you notice the lotion stops helping. wink.gif

A&A'smommy replied: if it is exzema then the baby lotion will dry it out, thats what my daughters dermatologist told us anyway, something about the scent.

Danalana replied: Well, it's actually Baby Aveeno with oatmeal...

My3LilMonkeys replied: I am the same way - get that diaper back on ASAP so I don't get peed on tongue.gif , so I always miss his little butt for lotion. I agree it looks like dry skin - glad to hear the lotion is helping!

jem0622 replied: yeast based rash

you can do frequent sitz baths in baking soda and air him out as much as possible. then use the cream for jock itch on the bum. tea tree oil will work too.

you could just take him to the pediatrician and get a cream too.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: It's a baby butt! rolling_smile.gif emlaugh.gif

It looks like maybe eczema to me. Taylor used to get it in small patches.

It does look like dry skin, Brae gets patches like that too (mostly during the winter). However with Braedin regular baby lotion doesn't help much. I use Curel (his ped said to, and I've always used it myself) and it helps a lot. But try the regular baby lotion and see if that helps first.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: actually it looks like a fungal infection... zach had something like that when he was a baby. He had some topical antifungal cream to put on it... i don't really remember what it was... but it definitely 100% looks like the same thing. Zach had it on his chest and back though.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Looking at it again, I think Rocky is right. I did not realize it was perfectly round. It almost looks like ring worm. If the sides puff up and the insides stay flat. Try Blue Star ointment =)

Danalana replied: Well, it's clear right now...what does that mean?
I cleaned him really well and ler him air out. I put a thin layer of baby aveeno and then re-diapered him...it looks normal now smile.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: just keep an eye on it... I remember Zach's came and went... he had it for a while before I took him to the doc's about it. If it IS a fungal infection, it's not really dangerous or anything... but it could spread.

I was thinking the same thing. Avery had it on her arm and it looks exactly the same. We used some Clotrimazole and it was gone in a few days.

A&A'smommy replied:
yea I was gonna say it really doesn't look like exzema, alyssa had it and it more like really dry bumpy skin
