Any sports finatics out there? - gotta a question for you

coasterqueen wrote: What is it with sports? I just sat in on a meeting with three men and of course the meeting took twice as long because sports became the topic there at the end of the meeting. What is it with sports? I'm sure these men's wives are probably saying "you can remember all the stats for every sport, professional and highschool, but you can't remember to pick up milk on your way home from work"! LOL.

I know that's what my bosses' wife is saying.

I LOVE baseball, but that's about it.

Just curious wink.gif

MomToMany replied: I love Vikings football, but I don't memorize their stats. I hardly know their jersey numbers! I just like watching them play.

It's a total guy thing, I guess. They have to prove who's smarter about SOMETHING, I suppose!

Heather replied: I love baseball! Derek Jeter is my crush!! wub.gif LOL the only thing I know about him though is his jersey number!! My husband knows a lot too, I can't understand it myself.

jdkjd replied: FSU and Bucs Football mainly but have become more knowledgeable abou the NFL due to my fantasy team. I'm a little unusual in my love for football though.

Saturday and Sunday start with College GameDay and NFL Countdown...

kit_kats_mom replied: I got interested in sports when I was in HS but it was really just a ploy to meet guys. blush.gif If you are sitting in a sports bar and you know all of the players names and can throw out an intelligent sounding nugget of info about the team, the guys are drawn to you like ants to honey. BTW "how come they are wearing white socks with black stripes when their uniforms are (insert colors here)..Totally clashes!" doesn't qualify as an intelligent sounding comment and may well get you kicked out of said sports bar. tongue.gif I still watch FSU football but I sure don't memorize any stats. I'm doing really good to be able to watch the games now.

I was waiting to see if Jenn would chime in here. Jenn, you are more knowlegable about sports than any woman I've ever met. GO YOU!

ps. thanks for helping my DH with his fantasy football team. rolling_smile.gif

5littleladies replied: I don't get it either. I used to watch baseball when I was a teenager because I watched it with my dad and now I watch the Vikes (football) with DH and our friends but I have no problem skipping a game. I can find lots of other things to fill my time! tongue.gif

CantWait replied: I love sports, and I love yelling at the t.v. ect......but for the life of me, I can't remember the names of the players and certainly not their stats

MomToJade&Jordan replied: My family has always been a football family. We live for football season. I guess my knowledge of sports comes from the fact that I have two younger brothers and they have practically played every sport under the sun. My love is football though. I remember sitting at a football game in highschool and having to explain to a friend why the other team had to be backed up 15 yards. If I wasn't in Hawaii my Saturdays would start with Gameday (it comes on at like 4:30 in the morning here). If there is football on DH and I watch it. He's a Marshall fan and a Vikings fan. Most of you know I am an FSU fan, but I also follow the Bucs and the Giants. The sad thing is I probably would have joined into that conversation at your meeting. There is nothing in the world like being at Doak Cambell stadium with 80,000 other people and doing the chop. The last time I was there FSU beat the Gators 30-7. It was cold and I don't think I sat down for that whole game. That is the part of my college experience I miss above all. We hardly get the games out here because if there is a West Coast team playing at the same time we get that one. When I actually get to see a game and the camara gets a whole shot of the stadium I get all wistful. I need to talk my DH into going to FSU so I can go back. He wants to be an Officer and there's a program in the military where you still get all of the benefits, but he can go to school full-time. Another bonus would be that I will be back in Tallahassee and I can hang out with Jenn and Cary. I guess I will keep trying. thumb.gif

kit_kats_mom replied:
Keep pushing him for that Carrie-Ann. That would be awesome to have football parties with all of our FSU Internet friends. thumb.gif If you guys ever need any info sent to you from the school, just email me. I can pick stuff up alot easier than trying to get those bureaucrats at the school to mail it. dry.gif It took me 3 hours to pay a parking fine once...how dumb is that? wacko.gif

A&A'smommy replied:
LOL rolling_smile.gif that sounds like something i would have done, didnt get the chance though i met dh when i was 16 (im 17 almost 18 now). I did other things though become "friends" with one guy to get to know others...i know its mean but it worked!

MomToJade&Jordan replied:
Yeah that was on of the things that used to drive m crazy about that school. I always dreaded when I needed to get something from them whether it was a financial aid form or transcripts. I can't believe you had to wait 3 hours to pay a parking ticket. Yup that's FSU for ya. rolling_smile.gif

kit_kats_mom replied:
Yeah, they moved all of those offices to the Stadium. It was August, I was 8 mos pregnant and had to walk around that stupid stadium 3 times! I kept being told I had to go to another office. Grrr.

MomToJade&Jordan replied:
Yeah and right as they were doing that they started tearing up the road that used to run right next to it. I always wound up on the wrong side of the stadium. I was told a couple of times that I was in the wrong office and the one I was looking for was on the other side. I think the stadium looks awsome, but couldn't they have put all the stuff together so poor students wouldn't be wondering around all confused?
