Anyone have Dish Network - Do you like it?

A&A'smommy replied: I have dish and LOVE it I don't watch THAT much TV but I have it for the dvr because the shows I do like don't come on at convenient times for me anyway its great and we have never had any real problems with them *knock on wood*

J-rod replied: i had DISH and HATED THEM!!!! they lied and cheated me the whole year. i NEVER had a good signal. lost it in wind and rain. snow....forget tv. they were awful and rude. flat out lied to me about local channels until after i signed the contract and had it installed.

we are now having direcTV installed friday.

TheOaf66 replied: well the big problem I have is that we got DirecTV when we first bought the house about 3 yrs ago and our boxes are outdated and such and if we want to get DVR etc then we have to pay for new boxes at about $150 each.

wow thats terrible, my inlaws had directtv before they had dish and had TONS of problems with them but we are in a different area now my FIL watches a TON of tv and has NEVER EVER had any problems, we have all the local channels and they come in awesome, never had any signal problems heck we even watched tv through hurricane (100 mph winds) I think its going to be different with everyone. It never hurts to give it a try oh and my parents have direct tv and if you want the dvr its going to cost you a 99 buck (a 100 dollars) but with dish you get it for only 5.99 a month you just keep it hooked up to your phone line.

id tell direct tv if they wont upgrade you to the newer ones for a better deal then youll switch to dish....i bet they will change their mind asap to keep you a customer.


stephs parents have had direc tv for years....but they get a deal too since its owned by verizon and her dad works for verizon.

Calimama replied: I do and I love it! I would rather have cable instead of the dish though because I HATE HATE losing signal in the middle of a show. But I live in CA and the weather here is so clear that rarely happens.

3xsthefun replied: We have Dish, and like it. We have not had any problems with them, yes we have lost our signal because of a hard rain but not for very long.

My parents have DirectTV and they have had quite a few problems with it.

Heather77 replied: We got Dish about 2 months ago and love it! No problems so far. We always had Charter cable in the past and I hated it. Our cable was ALWAYS going out.

My2Beauties replied: I have digital cable with a DVR box - I absolutely hate dishes for the exact reasons J-Rod stated. My dad has a dish and that stupid thing is always going out or getting a lost/bad signal. They are on a 1 year contract too so he can't cancel, but he said as soon as his year's up he's going back to cable! Everyone I know has switched back to cable because dishes suck!

When we signed up we got the reg. box and they called us last year and offered the DVR box at no charge and the rates stayed the same
I will never go back to cable.

Crystalina replied: We've had DishNetwork for 3 yrs now and really have never had any problems at all. The only time I've spoken or had to deal with them is when I bought two more boxes from RadioShak and they activated them for me. When I do lose signal it's never very long and I am surrounded by trees. It also has to be very bad out for me to lose signal. The only downfall I would find with them is it's WAY too easy for DH to order his UFC fights.
