Anyone participate in Test The Nation - Interesting BF fact mentioned.

MommyToAshley wrote: DH and I took the IQ test, but I thought one of the facts they mentioned after break was interesting. They said BF babies had slightly better scores on the IQ test. Maybe Ashley will grow up to be a rocket scientist? wink.gif

According to the test results from the people that took it on the internet, Democrats and Republicans were tied -- both had an average IQ of 113. However, and this must be wrong, Men had 113 IQ and Women had 111! They must have made a mistake. hehe.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Well...DH and I took the test, and I tested 121. happy.gif DH tested 116...shhhh!!! thumb.gif

I'm not sure what to think about this...because I had my IQ tested by MENSA a few years ago, and I scored 154. So maybe Pregnancy really does make you dummber? lol! rolleyes.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: can you take it online? I would like to take it.

MommyToAshley replied: You could take it online at the time of the show...it was timed. You only had a few seconds to answer each question.

Zach'sMom... 121 is good, above average. They said average was 110-120.

I did well on the language, logic, and math but screwed up on the perception part -- I didn't like those shape questions. heehee. I scored a 132. They said 130 for this particular test is genius...LOL. Something must be off on the test, I am no genius! I remember taking an IQ test in grade school, but I don't remember what I scored on it. I just remember that my Mom got something in the mail.

Kaitlin'smom replied: ahh darn. oh well maybe I will look on the net and see if there is something I could take, just wondering for fun what i would score.

MommyToAshley replied: The scoring for this was different than a normal IQ test. It was made especially for TV and each question being timed. Let us know if you find something on the net, maybe we can all take it for fun!

(Oh...and make sure spelling doesn't count! LOL)

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
I don't htink it was very accurate at all. And the average was between 90 and 110, genius level after 130.

I did well on every part really.... I scored 51 out of 60 questions. I think that the wasy they test with age is stupid as well....because someone with the same scroe as me has a higher IQ if they're older? I don't see the logic there. If I was like 36, my IQ would have been something like 140. How can one test be so off from the other...kwim?

maybe the test I took was another test offered by MENSA.... do they have more than one test?

Schnoogly replied: There's one on Ivillage. Go to quizzes. I don't like these tests--I think people demonstrate intelligence in different ways that aren't tested with these kinds of IQ tests.

And I'm not saying that because I didn't score well--I was in gifted education programs in school and I'm getting a PHD for pete's sake. But I think these tests "type" people into thinking that they can't do certain things because they're not smart enough.

Just MHO

Steph

MommyToAshley replied: Good thing the IQ test only measured short term memory...LOL. How did you do on that part? I got all of the memory except for the last one. LOL

Mommieto2Girls replied: When was this test offered, I never even heard of it.

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
I got them all right! lol!!!

I didn't do well with the synonyms. I missed 3!! blush.gif

I did it on paper, so I still have the scores and all my answers, exactly where I got the mistakes. I missed one of the questions on the sayings, and I missed one of the math questions.

I was extremely surprised at DH...he missed all the questions on the shapes except the first one. You'd think he'd have gotten those... being an engineer and all... lol

Ah well...

I did the Ivillage IQ test...and I got a 112! The wide range of scores isn't the greatest.

I was in gifted education classes too, my whole school life. I skipped kindergarden, went straight to grade one... and the only reason I didn,t skip grade 6 is because the age difference would be too harsh. My mother finished highschool at 16...and it was really hard on her, because everyone else was 2 years older. She didn,t want the same for me.... in French schools, I'm not sure if it's the same in English schools, there is:

Fundamental classes (for kids who are a little on the slow side)
General classes (normal classes)
Advanced classes
Enriched classes (smarter than advanced - it goes on your skills AS WELL as your grade points)
and my classes, what we Frenchies call the "Douance" class. I guess it would be the same a Gifted education classes.

Now my highschool was an odd one. You needed a 75 grade average to even get in. Then you had to maintain your average. Ugh. No problem though... lol I graduated with a 97 average!! heh heh!

I could have had time to get a degree from some university in the area...if I hadn't got my government job straight out of school.

Heather replied: I took the one at Ivillage and I scored a 127. I took another one a while ago on emode and I scored the same thing...so maybe it is correct... thumb.gif LOL
Here are my results!!

Congratulations! Your general IQ score is 127.
A person whose IQ score falls in the range of 111-128 is considered to be "above average intelligence".
