Anyone see the hurricane?
Mommieto2Girls wrote: OMG, it has 160 mph winds now with wind gusts up to 200 mph. I hope it doesn't hit. I live way to close for this to hit. I live in a wooden house so we will be the first to leave. I just can't imagine what could happen if this thing does hit. Anyone else down here that might get affected by this hurricane?
amynicole21 replied: You're in FLA, right? I'm in Orlando, and we've been watching this in fear. Crazy!! Right now I'm enjoying the awesome cool front that it's brought, though!
kit_kats_mom replied: We're in Tallahassee so it would have to go into the Gulf of Mexico and swing north-east before it could get us. I've lived here since 84 and the only big hurricane we've had since then was Kate. She was bad but not like Andrew for S. Fl. We are far enough inland to where it just knocked out power and blew down alot of trees from what I remember. Take care of yourself and post updates when you can! Those buggers are scary!
Mommieto2Girls replied: yep, we are just under Lake Okeechobee, we're starting to get a little worried though.
Mommieto2Girls replied: Here is where we are......
Maddie&EthansMom replied: OMG Charlene!! You are so close! Keep safe and take cover! I am so scared for you!
Mommieto2Girls replied: Thanks, I am praying that the front comes fast and it swings around and misses us.
MomofTay&Sam replied: Oh no thats very scary! Believe it or not, (I am not sure of which hurricane) but all of our beaches have been closed for almost 7 days now. The swells are deadly. I am praying that it misses you and heads back out to sea.
catou_98 replied: OMG , I'm praying it turns around, I sure want you and especially little maddie safe from all of this! please take care and don't wait to take cover if you have too!
~CrazieMama~ replied: I am seriously hoping that this thing goes away. I fear that it is gonna come gets us. I know if it does come, Brianna and myself will be in the car waiting for Charlene, Maddie and Chris to get us out of here. I am waiting for the 11 p.m. update. I hope there is some weakening.
kit_kats_mom replied: Well, on the bright side...hurricanes are a great excuse to make an unexpected visit to those relatives who live up north!
Unfortunatally, I would be worried the whole time about what my house is going to look like when I get back. I would for sure evacuate if it looked like it was coming anywhere near me. I feel like anyone who dies in a hurricane must be living in a cave or something. It's not like a tornado where there is no warning, we know about them, what, a week in advance. Sorry, just my 2cents
~CrazieMama~ replied: I agree totally. My mom says she will stay here and go to the High School or something. Not me!!!! I am high tailing it out of here!!!!
~CrazieMama~ replied: Update!!!! all is the same 9 MPH movement, winds 160. No increase in anything... woohoo!!! But there is no decline in winds Keep us in your prayers everyone. I hope that by morning there is a change.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Oh great. I am usually on top of these things because I'm from FL and you just have to be when you live there. I am in Hawaii, but my parents are in Naples. I have a site that I go to that is really great and gives straight forward detail here is the URL:
National Hurricane Center
Just click discussion and that will outline what is going on. At the moment they are kind of iffy on where this thing goes. If that front gets down there in time hopefully it will steer that bugger back into the Arlantic. I will keep me eyes on it and hope that it stays away from FL. I remember Andrew, I was there for that one. It didn't hit on my side of the state as bad, but I know what it did to Homestead. I will keep you all in my prayers.
CantWait replied: Hoping that everyone is alright....update us asap
amynicole21 replied: We've got a week to prepare before it's even a threat... hopefully (fingers crossed!!) it turns back to sea by then!!!
MommyToAshley replied: How scarey! I hope that thing turns around or dies out... keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Keep us posted!
~CrazieMama~ replied: So far it is not slowing down. It may turn more north though, heading towards South Carolina. I hope it goes right back out to sea. I catch every update.
MomToJade&Jordan replied: I talked to my Mom in Naples this morning and she was telling me that it doesn't look like it's going to hit Florida. She also said that if it does infact hit the Carolinas that it would probably be a cat 3. From what I have learned about hurricanes they usually hit a peak point and then they start to weaken from there. I hope this thing will do that if it's actually going to hit land. I looked at the weather channel website this morning and it looks impressive. It kind of reminds me of Andrew. We don't get the weather channel out here in Hawaii so we don't get the updates. I'm still hoping this thing goes out to sea.
A&A'smommy replied: it doesnt look so good!!! I hope it doesnt hit land but if it does maybe it wont be too bad.....anyways ya'll take care of yourselves!!!!!
