Aquadoodle mat - what do you think??

grapfruit wrote: Does anybody have an Aquadoodle mat (seen here)

If so, do you like it? Is it a good "value"? I was reading that the color "dries up and disappears" in like 20 seconds...For some reason that didn't sound all that great.

I guess maybe their attention spand isn't that long or something dunno.gif

moped replied: We have many aquadoodle mats......they are fine!!!!! Jack plays with them

amynicole21 replied: It's really fun. The kids love it. Wouldn't recommend it for anyone under 2.5 or 3yo though.

grapfruit replied:
Really? Why is that, if I may ask? She'll be 20 months at Christmas.

BAC'sMom replied: We have one of the older mats, all of my kids love it.

Our Lil' Family replied: Thomas got his for his 2nd birthday. I don't think that's too young. He loves it and so do I, less paper to draw on and no chance of coloring on something he's not supposed to!!

lesliesmom replied: I liked these. We used to bring them with us to restaurants. They were great at entertaining. As for the age thing, we had to put ours away for a while because our youngest (now 18m) would take the pen and suck the water out of it, kind of like a sippy. That's the only problem I had with ours. But, now that she's older I'm thinking of pulling them back out and see what happens.

grapfruit replied:
laugh.gif Well I think as long as she doesn't realize water comes out the tip it'll be fine biggrin.gif

grapfruit replied:
That's a good idea, but aren't they like 3' x 3'???

PrairieMom replied: I just got one for Al for Christmas, I was thinking that it was something the both of them could use.

gr33n3y3z replied: Those are great

Boo&BugsMom replied:
I think she'd be fine. Tanner got his about that age and loved it. It does dry quickly, but that's a good thing because you run out of drawing space quickly as well. He still occassionally plays with it.

jcc64 replied: Corey liked hers for awhile- I think she's kind of outgrown it. I never really understood the appeal, tbh, but kids seem to love them.

A&A'smommy replied: All three of the grandkids (alyssa and her cousins) each got one about 2 years ago and they ALL still play with them.. they LOVE them and play with them for hours on end!!! thumb.gif Alyssa messed hers up and now I think we are going to get the new diego one

amynicole21 replied:
Only because they don't care much about drawing at that age. You can get smaller ones, too.

Nora still sucks the water out of the pen rolleyes.gif

moped replied:
I agree!

Boo&BugsMom replied: Get this...when Tanner was that young (about 2) he actually used it the right way and drew with it. Now at 5, he sucks the water out of the pen. rolleyes.gif wacko.gif

TBH, most of my daycare kids, including my own, were into drawing at this age. They scribbled, but for them it's about the process and not the product. wink.gif

stella6979 replied: My nephew loves his. We're actually getting him the color wonders spray gun for Christmas cause he likes it so much. smile.gif

A&A'smommy replied:
Not necessarily Alyssa got hers when she was about 18months and has played with it ever since.. she only started sucking the water out of the pen recently, but she still colors with it emlaugh.gif rolleyes.gif

moped replied:
Yep, Jack also sucks the water out -- glad my kid isn't the only one!

MotherForever2043 replied: My sister bought one and she said they are great!

AlexsPajamaMama replied: Alex got one last Christmas when he was 2.5 and he still loves it
Its the travel size one which is great for on the go and at home

Oh and he sucks the water out of the pen too...more so now than he did at 2!

Boo&BugsMom replied:
Boys. rolleyes.gif

Cece00 replied: My kids love it. Its a cute toy. The water dries up in about 5-10 minutes. At least on ours...we use paintbrushes, too, not just the pens.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied:
ITA, I think we bought one for Wil when he was a little over a year or so and he didn't play with it much. I don't even know where it is now. Must have sold it at a garage sale. I always hated how large the mat was...not sure where to really put it. But I think now that Wil is over three, he would play it with it more. He loves to draw and can write his name. Where at 20 months or so, they just scribble and walk away after maybe a few minutes. JMO.
