The triplets mom called me last night (I had a day off yesterday) to let me konw that she thinks her babies have roseola. Also known as Rubella...or the baby measles. They're feverish... breaking out in little spots... and the parents have headahce, swollen lymph nodes, fever....
yesterday, Emilie complained of aches all over the place, and I had an earache and a sore throat. I had a small fever last night.
This morning, dh is also sore...and the kids are all whiny.
I guess this is what happens when you don't get the MMR vaccine....

moped replied: Oh darn!!! How long does it last???
coasterqueen replied: Ugh. I hope you all feel better soon.
PrairieMom replied: UGH. I hope everyone feels better soon. are you sure thats what it is?
luvbug00 replied: that stinks...
BTW how much say Do you have in what the kids have as far as vaccines in your dayhome???
mummy2girls replied: you still can get baby measals even after the MMR. Jenna got them and a 21 month old in my dayhome just got over them. the MMr protects you from getting measals.. germaqn measals i believe.. BNut that sucks big time! Baby measals is only contagious for kids 3 and under... so some of your kids may be ok. (((HUGS)))
Calimama replied: I'm sorry, I hope you all feel better soon.
A&A'smommy replied: I'm sorry honey, I hope ya'll feel better soon!!
bawoodsmall replied: Good luck. Hopefully not all the kids will get it and wont last long.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Rubella is the German Measles and Roseola is a different viral illness. Roseola is contagious to children 6 months to 3 years old. Rubella is able to be contracted by everyone and is especially dangerous to pregnant woman. I don't know what the incubation period is but I think it is over a week so if the triplets just came down with it it might not be measles since all of you are coming down with it in the same time period...unless you were all actually exposed together. It could be strep that can come with a rash (scarlet fever) and make you feel like you have been hit by a mac truck! Hope you feel better soon and it is just a virus of some sort.
grapfruit replied: Just a question, but how come nobody is vaccinated??? I know here, it's pretty much required.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: There is no vaccine for Roseola. If it is Rubella the MMR vaccine should have covered them BUT even if Rocky's kids are vaccinated with the MMR it could be a case of the immunity not taking. I had all of my vaccines and we had my titers done when I was pregnant with Tay because of possible exposure and I am not immune. Also there are many reasons why the triplets in Rocky's care would not be vaccinated...allergy,religious belief, or personal preferance. Vaccination is not required in the U.S. You can defer or refuse them based on any of the above reasons as well
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Only Naomie has not received the MMR.
From what I saw when I did a quick search on Roseola, it's also called Baby Measles, and Rubella is also called baby measles, sorry if there was any confusion....I sure got confused...
In any case... I got a call back from the triplets' mom last night - she took her kids to a clinic, and they said it was just some virus. Phew!
The kids seem fine today. My throat is killing me though.
A&A'smommy replied: I'm glad it was just a virus!!! I hope you feel better quickly!!!
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Glad it is just a virus Rocky! It is confusing! Could it be 5th disease? That will give them a slapped cheek look and then red bumps on their faces. I still think if your throat hurts it could be strep...that crap is sooo nasty! Taylor has had it several times and never tested for it in her throat-for some reason it goes to her kidneys It is horrible!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Not sure Abbie... my throat ache is pretty much gone today... just a little remnant, and the kids seem fine.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Good! Then you probably just had a touch of something yucky-all is well if it is already gone!
