At what age....

Danalana wrote: did your babies start sitting unassisted? Kade will be 5 months old tomorrow...I have only recently really tried sitting him on the floor (he sits in his Bumbo). Sometimes he will use those back muscles and stay up a couple of seconds, but he usually just folds up. I guess I could look at the milestone thing and see when this is typically supposed to happen, but I wanted to get feedback from you.

mckayleesmom replied: They were different. Mckaylee started around 4 months and Russell didn't do it till about 6 or 7. I kind of taught them by having them grab their toes.... rolling_smile.gif

MyBabeMaddie replied: Anytime before the age of 8 months he should sit up without help.

A&A'smommy replied: Alyssa starting sitting up at 6months.. Autumn is 2months and she tries SOO hard lol she HATES to lay down rolleyes.gif drives me crazy.

Danalana replied:
See Kade hates lying down too...when he's in his carseat, he leans as far forward as possible, trying to sit up. I haven't tried it with him enough.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I didn't even think to try to get Andrew to sit up until he was 5 months old. tongue.gif When I did think of it though I started propping him up with a ton of blankets and pillows for a few minutes at a time, and he was sitting unassisted when he was 6 months old - I don't remember when he could get himself there though. Allie started sitting unsupported and getting herself to a sitting position, and crawling at 6 months. rolleyes.gif

stella6979 replied: I think Avery was about 5 months or so. Do you have a boppy pillow? We used that a lot with her and she really enjoyed it. It helps them sit up by cradling them a bit.

Calimama replied: I think around 4 months but she would fall over easily. At about 5 1/2-6 months she could sit up and be sturdy.

bawoodsmall replied: she was a master by 5 months. I warn though(even though I do it) dont compare kids. It will drive you batty. wacko.gif He will get it with time.

moped replied: Laila just started and will still sometimes fall, she is 7 months

Danalana replied: Thanks!

Boo&BugsMom replied: Aiden was earlier, about 5/6 months. He was creeping around before he could sit up alone. He seems to do things backwards. laugh.gif Tanner was later, like about 7 months. The Boppy came in handy with both the boys. Aiden liked it better than his Bumbo. I agree, don't compare, but I know how sometimes it puts your mind at ease. It's good to have a guideline of sorts. He's still young yet, he'll catch on sooner or later. smile.gif

Danalana replied: Oh yeah, I'm not worried...he has done everything else early, so I don't worry about him being developmentally delayed or anything. Sometimes I just think I don't work with him enough on things. Like, we never did a ton of tummy time, though I did make sure I put him on his tummy a little every day. Until yesterday, I never even tried having him sit up alone. He sits in his Bumbo, and I know that's helpful in learning to sit, but he still needs some floor time. I just don't want to cause him to not do things when he might have been able to.

bawoodsmall replied:
Yeah see that is where I get into trouble cuz Em did everything early so I freak out with Aiden because he isnt doing this or that and Em was at that age. blahblah.gif It really is quite annoying when you do something and know you shouldnt. I am trying to be better so maybe with time I will learn. wink.gif

lisar replied: Raygen didnt do it until she was around 9 months. (premie) But Lexi done it if I remember right around 5 months.

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Both of my kids were 6 months old.

youngmomofone replied: 6-7 months

Boo&BugsMom replied:
I get the same way sometimes. I think it's just hard not to sometimes.

sunrosejenn replied: Eliana was 6 months.
