Baby Gates... - what do you recommend?

KingMom wrote: I'm going to get baby gates today. What do you recommend?? I don't want one that has to be hard mounted, want something pressure mounted so I don't have to screw anything into the doorways.

My mom called today and said she found Colin on the dining room table dipping water out of the floating candle bowl, my response was "Where were you!?" She said she was doing laundry and I told her she should have taken him with her. I've been stressed since.

Well, what do you recommend?

Jamison'smama replied: Do you have steps?

AlexsPajamaMama replied: We have Evenflo gates that are wooden with the arm that goes down to keep it secured in the door way. I think we paid like $10 a piece for them at Walmart

moped replied: I have the evenflo but it does mount to the wall - which I do think is safetest at the top of the stairs!

kayla's mama replied: We have an Evenflo pressure mount that fits up to 70 inches. We love it. It is mesh and the sides are adjustable, it doesn't have the arm thingy. We got it at Baby R Us. I don't think it was too expensive. It is the perfect height to keep up and step over. But I don't recommend if you are using it for the stairs.

That's what we have...we have about four of them around the house since we have two sets of stairs, plus one on the back patio since it's also way above ground. Wil actually pulled it out of the wall today (not sure how)! ohmy.gif They are mounted on the wall and on the banister/railing.

KingMom replied: I'll look at those, we don't have any indoor steps.

mckayleesmom replied: I have a heavy duty plastic one, made by Safety first.

mom2tripp replied: Whitney, I think there are some great gates in First Steps magazine, I think that's what it's called. You're going to need some pretty wide ones though for your living room and kitchen area if that's where you're trying to block him off you know? I'll do some searching for you thumb.gif

holley79 replied: I hav eone of those Graco twist out mesh gates that I use for the dogs. I am going to purchase one of the hard mounts though because I have stairs. Other then that I have no clue. The Graco type might work for you though. It's also light weight if you have to carry it.

KingMom replied: I purchased the Evenflo Soft and Wide gate (2 of them). I'll post what I think of them next week in case anyone is interested. Babies R Us were $5 less each.

Here's the link to two sites that had it (I went to Babies R Us and picked them up since they were in stock).

Thanks for mom2tripp for emailing the link to One Step Ahead to look at before I made my decision.

~~*Missi*~~ replied: I have all kid-co... They make ones that can be both. Both pressure or if you find that the little one is climbing on them (like sabrina) and falling because the pressure doesn't hold when it has 24lb of monkey swinging on it.... it can be wall mounted too.
They run depending on the door size etc..... from 29.99 to 99.99 ..
we have two pressure for places that she rarely goes but the stairs, her door and the kitchen are all mounted.....

I KNOW the same company that makes the "super gate" makes a mountable or pressure for 17.99....at burlington coat factory baby depot (i shop there cause chris ran the department and well still get the discount lol)
