Baby Gift idea
Jamison'smama wrote: The owner of the company my DH works for is having a baby. I need to come up with a classy, yet hip, nice gift to these first time parents.
The family is highly intelligent, well read, fairly wealthy, a little crunchy (cloth diapering, organic clothing and food), and lives in a hip---high dollar part of Boston.
Help!!!!
Anthony275 replied: embroidered blanket?
MommyToAshley replied: A basket full of baby stuff, be sure to include some "crunchy" items? Do you know if they are having a boy or girl, you could get some really cute cloth diaper covers to include in there. Maybe include a good parenting book for first time parents, one of those picture frames that have the hand molds too, a cute outfit, or any of the typical baby stuff. I think you can always dress baskets up to look really sophisticated.
Sorry, guess I am no help.
Jamison'smama replied: They are having a girl and so far have not disclosed the name. She's due on the 10th.
moped replied: Good description of them
I got my freind a gift card for a photographer......don't know how much you want to spend
how about a baby bjorn
a baby sling
Best gift I got was a laundry basket full of baby items - diapers, wipes, pj's on and on
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Expensive, but they sell these awesome super soft blankets at Nordstrom...I think called "Little Giraffe". Totally hip, realllllllly soft. Put it in with a nice lotion or powder from the Burts Bee organic baby line, which sells at Whole Foods or Ulta or even sometimes at drugstores now.
ETA: The blankets are not a full size blanket. They are more like a kids snuggly size. But so cute. I received the exact gift for Wesley. My friend added a lotion from Crabtree & Evelyn (another great lotion/powder line). I loved it! After I got it, I told my sister the idea and she bought the same thing for a friend.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Baby Stylehas some really posh gifts too.
ETA: Sorry, keep thinking of things. Whole Foods sells organic clothing for babies. Really cute stuff. I was eyeing them the other day, wishing I had someone to buy for. Jumpers and sleepers and bibs. My MIL actually gave me one of the bibs, has a pumpkin on it. Made with organic cotton. They also have some funky toys, wood type, educational. I'm sure lead free! They even sell Robeez, which BTW, would be a cute gift if you know the sex. Get them a size up though. They grow out of newborn size so fast.
Brias3 replied: I'm trying to think back about what we got when the kids were born....some of DH's colleagues are very well to do and I feel as though we were suddenly raking in blankets and bibs that probably cost more than my child's entire nursery
I know I got an adorable blue and brown chenille blanket type thing (called a Snuglie) when Mason was born that he loved to pieces and still has in his bed. I'll have to look up the brand on it and see if I can't direct you somewhere in specific.
Another cute, different idea might be to look into the Kaiya Eve petticoat collection. Aliyah JUST got the most adorable tank and skirt combo from there from one of Bruce's coworkers for her birthday. I guess its all the new craze- they sell them at one of the more uppity kids clothing stores in our area. They're really darling and would make for a cute, "girly" outfit. I have no idea what sizes they run though (meaning if they have newborn or infant) and I'm not sure what your price range is.

~ I was going to suggest putting together a bunch of stuff. Like, cloth diapers, clothes, bibs, paci's, toys, e.t.c and then put them in baby bath tub
luvmykids replied: I just saw some ADORABLE baby bracelets on Overstock.com, they have a silver one that has "Princess" engraved in it...soooo cute
Jamison'smama replied: yep, all the items they selected for the baby's room are made from organic cotton as are the onesies.
I love many of the ideas. Thanks, now I actually need to find and purchase.
