Baby bedding - have to ask

holley79 wrote: I am just wondering. I was thinking about this last night when I was rocking Annika to sleep. (Prior to giving up and co- sleeping with her.) I have only changed Annika's bedding when it was soiled. It's so hard to change out her sheet because I have to practically take out the whole mattress to get the sheet back on. Am I a bad mommy for this??? ohmy.gif

kayla's mama replied: You are not a bad mommy hug.gif hug.gif Kayla's bed is like that too and its a royal pain in the arse to change bedding. I generally like to do it every week but sometimes its longer than that.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: I hate changing the sheets more than anything and I admit I don't do it as often as I should blush.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: hug.gif No, you're not a bad mommy for that. I personally change all the sheets in the house every Sunday morning - but only because when Brooke was little I didn't change her sheets for about 6 weeks because I kept forgetting blush.gif so now I do it weekly so I know I didn't forget.

coasterqueen replied: I would say every 2 weeks, usually no longer than that. Megan's bed might go 3 weeks, depending on if Dh is around to help me get the sheet off her crib mattress. That one is always a toughy for me, lol. But the rest of our beds are changed every 2 weeks for sure. Although I'm proud of myself because last weekend I changed Megan's bedding myself so I guess I have no excuse to go longer now. laugh.gif

1lilpeanut2love replied:
iagree.gif!!! wink.gif

Cece00 replied: I change it about once a wk, or more often if its soiled.

I have two tricks to make it easier on a crib, b/c it IS a PIA.

First off- when I make the bed, I put down a mattress pad and then a sheet, and then a mattress pad and then a sheet...until I have 3 mattress pads and 3 sheets. This makes changes SO much easier, and since I have to take the mattress out to change the sheets, its not costing me any more time to do it, but saves TONS of times when I have to pull sheets off plus I dont have to put any on for 2 more times.

I also put down a thicker blanket over the sheets (tucked into the sides so she cant pull it off), and so if she wets through her clothes, sometimes I will just have to change the blanket if it caught the small amount of leakage/spit up, etc.

I've had to spend a LOT less time messing with the crib since I did these two things.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I voted once a month but it really is more like every other week. I try to do it every weekend I am off work.

Bee_Kay replied: I did it a couple times a week.

I just never knew when I wouldn't notice that their diaper leaked a little bit... or they drooled.

But, no matter what anyone answered... it doesnt make anyone a bad mommy!! wink.gif

Mom2Boyz replied: I "TRY" to change Cadens once a week, but sometimes it just doesn't happen. Conners on the other hand gets changed a couple of times a week because the dog likes to sleep with him.

holley79 replied: I guess I will have to change her bedding more often. wink.gif I just never think about it then when I do I get distracted. When I think about it again is when I am fixing to put her to bed. rolleyes.gif

holley79 replied: Thank you all for making me feel better though.

PrairieMom replied: I wash all bedding on Thursdays when i clean the house. If I didn't make a habit out of it, I wouldn't do it at all. laugh.gif

ediep replied: I change Jasons whenever it gets wet, which is usually every few days. If he goes a week without wetting the bed, then I change it on the weekend

lisar replied: I dont change her bedding once a week I take it all off and wash it and put it back on. I do the same thing to mine and Lexi's. I am kinda a clean freak when it comes to my clothes and bedding.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: I change it when it gets dirty or when I notice that it's getting dirty. blush.gif I HATE changing the sheet and mattress pad on the crib it's such a pain!

Kaitlin'smom replied: normaly once a week when I wash her clothes.

luvbug00 replied: No WAy RU A bad mommy! I'm just a germaphob so we changed Mya's quite frequently.

ZandersMama replied: When my son gets out of his bed in the morning, he takes EVERYTHING off his bed and brings it with him into my bed so changing the bedding is no big issue, its stripped for me every morning. Is that weird that he does this? I didnt realize how strange it sounded till I wrote it out lol. he takes his sheet, blanket, conforter, pillow, teddy and carries it all into my bed. tongue.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied:
Nope not weird I think my daughter would take it all also but she cant get the sheet off, but she does bring her little pillow, teddy and blanket

AlexsPajamaMama replied: I wash Alex's bedding at least once a week, sometimes more than once especially with the potty training thing now. It is a pain to change their sheets, especially in a crib, I just lift the mattress right up to put a clean sheet on.

Ours gets washed once a week. I love a nice fresh bed to sleep in!

mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I probably do it twice a month, more of course if it gets soiled.

holley79 replied: Well I changed her crib sheets tonight before work. rolling_smile.gif I was feeling a little on the guilty side. LOL
