Baby poop question
MommyToAshley wrote: What do you do when your baby is constipated. Ashley seems to be a little constipated and the poop machine just doesn't work anymore. (see previous post about best investment)
I have tried giving her apple juice (diluted with water) but it doesn't seem to work. And, that has always worked in the past.
What has worked for you?
dhoppygirl replied: If Peyton is having problems, I usually lay him on the ground and lift his knees to his chest and hold for a few seconds and then repeat. If that doesn't work I try rubbing his tummy. He hasn't had any serious bouts of constipation, though, so I don't know if these will work for you
Good luck!!!
Dawn
MommyToAshley replied: This is the first serious bout we've run into. She hasn't had anything new to eat, so I am not sure what is causing it. But I will try lifting her knees to her chest for a while and see if that helps. Thanks.
Roxworld replied: Have you tried using baby apple prune juice? I tried the apple juice, and it didn't work for Aidan....but the apple prune sure did...lol. The one I use is by gerber, but i'm sure any is fine. if you can't find it, my Ped said i could use regular prune juice, no sugar added, and dilute it...one part water, one part juice....HTH.
momofajcl replied: I've heard pears or pear juice works. I would assume apricots work too since dried ones get me going I've read that massaging their feet works too and I massage Nicholas' feet every day. Something about the pressure in their arches does something to get them going We haven't had a problem *knocking on wood* Good luck!
CantWait replied: PEARS OR YES PEAR JUICE WORKS WONDERS, I had to stop giving Robbie anything with pears unless he needed to poop because it works so well.
MommyToAshley replied: I've tried Pear juice too. I am off to the store now to get some of the apple-prune juice.
I did the knee bends a couple different times today and rubbing her feet...maybe it is working it's way loose.
Kaitlin'smom replied: well I hope it works for her, its no fun no being able to poop. Let me knwo when you ge to do the poop dance! ( not to be gross, just concerned for her health)
MommyToAshley replied: WE HAVE POOP! YEAH!

This is the worst I have seen her...poor baby. On day 1 we did apple juice. On day 2 we did pear juice. On day 3 we did apple prune juice, rubbed feet, and knee bends. It might be a combination of the three that worked. LOL She doesn't normally get that much juice in a week!
Schnoogly replied: OK It's kinda gross but if it gets really bad try a glycerin suppository. You can buy them at the drugstore--make sure you get the children's ones and cut them in half, lube it up with aquaphor, and slide it in. Put the diaper on QUICK! Then hold the cheeks together. This works for Iain in about 10 minutes, no joke (post-surgery constipation issues, poor guy). Don't do this too often though unless with advice of your ped because it can teach the bowels to need it. But as a last resort, it totally works.
Steph
MommyToAshley replied: Steph, thanks so much for your reply. We must have been typing at the same time. LOL
I will remember that if she gets really bad again. But, hopefully she won't get this bad again.
Roxworld replied: I'm glad you got some POOP!!! ....LOL. I'm sure Ashley feels much better. I'm tellin' you....those prunes work wonders....I'm sure after all the juices, and excercises, her little body said ok....you asked for it. Hehe.
TLCDad replied: LOL I do not think she liked the taste too much though, hehe she litterally spit it on me (I was helping her hold the sippy cup).
MommyToAshley replied: Why do you think I asked you to help her. haha.
supermom replied: You know you are a mommy (or daddy) when.........your favorite topic of the day is your child not being constipated any more
Kaitlin'smom replied: I am glad she pooped!
TLCDad replied: Oh my! She was not finished. I think the prune juice really kicked in. She really had some poop just now. She had so much it took both of us to clean her off lol of course her bouncing in her little saucer walker luke thingy did not help matters Luckily Dee Dee was already in the process of getting her bath ready
MommyToAshley replied: LOL -- the joys of parenthood!
