I am on "PELVIC REST" for 3 weeks! At that point I will be re-evaluated!
What a pain in the rear, the pain was and is round ligament pain. They checked my cervix and LOW AND BEHOLD ... it isn't LONG and closed, but SHORT and closed ... what if I just have a short cervix ...
lovemy2 replied: I have no idea what that means? What exactly is pelvic rest as opposed to just rest Did you ask what it means?
Make sure you rest
Mommy2Isabella replied: No doing the dirty ... is pretty much what PELVIC rest is, just lazing around ... not a whole lot of activity!!
coasterqueen replied: Yikes! So can you not babysit then? I was on bed rest with Megan and I couldn't even play with Kylie, pick her up, nothing.
I would think if you just had a "short" cervix your doctor would have already known that, wouldn't he? Since you've been pregnant before.
mummy2girls replied: That was fast. you must have a good doc to get you in that fast... You better rest up dear!
MyBabeMaddie replied: Isn't a short cervix the same as some % effaced?
Kaitlin'smom replied: well that does not sound like fun, hope you can find someone to come help out. Oh is this the new docs office or have you changed yet?
Mommy2Isabella replied: I guess they would know beforehand if I just had a short cervix.
No I can pick bella up or anything! Lucky for me, she learned how to go down the stairs as well as up .
This is still the old dr. I go see the new dr. on the 19th of october!
Their main concern right now is keeping me from dialating!! So things that would provoke that, such as walking a lot, sex ... they want me to not do!
moped replied: But your cervix is still very closed right??? That is important!
Kaitlin'smom replied: I am glad your switching, this doc seems to be hit or miss. This time they took care of you fast other times they are slower than molasses.
Mommy2Isabella replied: Yes!! Cervix is closed!!! That is what they were worried about it not being. So now since my cervix is shortened they are trying to keep it from opening.
mummy2girls replied: on the safe side hun i would not pick up bella UNLESS you really have to because i would think picking up a 15-25 pound child can cause dilation...
im glad you got in really fast with this old doc as you hacve been having problems getting answers or even call backs so to get in and back with an hour and half is good!!!
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Did they say anything about a cerclage? I would call your new doctor's office and tell them your cervix is short and you are having pain-explain the situation to them and ask if you can be seen sooner OR I would call your old doctor back and ask to discuss a cerclage with him. You do NOT want to dialate this early and they really should be doing alot more to prevent complications other than just pelvic rest...Also just a heads up vaccumming and mopping use alot of the same muscles that are involved in...ummm...pelvic activity so avoid those. Driving is not good either. Watch for shooting sharp pains, like a stab up the vajaja and into your lower back. I hope you get someone to listen and do something more for you! Have you had another sono since they said the other baby was gone? I am still worried about that for you-especially now since you are beginning to eface...
Mommy2Isabella replied: A cerclage was discussed, they don't want to go drastic yet i guess. Im not sure how I feel about a cerclage myself! BUT ... whatever!
The new Dr. is a perinatoligist so I am sure he knows what the deal is!!
Thanks guys!
HuskerMom replied: Hope you're able to get some rest!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: So was the old one and he didn't seem to know much of anything!
I hope you have better luck this time. Lay low and take care.
