Bad news re: DH

redplaydoh wrote: I posted last week about DH having to have the spot removed from his back. The doctor called him back with the results today and it's skin cancer.
DH was pretty shaken by the news and didn't have the right mind to ask the right questions.
The doctor said that he has to go in for surgery in 3 weeks to remove even more "normal" skin/tissue surrounding it to make sure that they get it all. The area they removed last week was about the size of a quarter, now they will remove a 10cm of tissue in a circle around the original area and remove down as deep as possible. That's gonna be one heck of a hole in his back... I just thought 10cm?? that's big enough to give birth through!!!
Beyond that DH can't remember if the doctor said anything further...
Just still keep him in your P&PT's please.

jcc64 replied: I know that's really scary to hear, but the fact is- 1 in 3 of us will receive the same or similiar news at one time in our lives. As long as it's caught early, there's no reason to believe he won't have a complete recovery. hug.gif Hang in there!

MommyToAshley replied: I am sorry... I know it is always hard to hear the "C" word. But, it is the easiest form of cancer to cure and most people have 100% recovery. I hope the surgery goes well. Please keep us posted. I'll keep him in my prayers. hug.gif

redchief replied: Prayers and PT's out to you both. One thing... it's perfectly all right for you and DH to ask the doc all of the questions you have all over again, even if he may have asked before. DO IT. Don't ever forget that those doctors are working for YOU. thumb.gif I'd say it like this, "Doctor, you may have already told me this, but I was really messed up when I heard that growth came back malignant. Could you please tell me?..."

ihave4kids replied: I'm sorry hug.gif
