Bathing - how often
1moremakes4 wrote: Just wondering how often you bathe your baby. I've been doing about 1x a week, but it doesn't seem like enough. Also, any suggestions for how to clean under the rolls in my baby's neck?? She squinches up (is that a word?) and the only time she is relaxed enough for me to do it would be while sleeping. Thanks!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: When Wil was an infant, I bathed him maybe 2x a week. We live in Colorado, so my doc said it wasn't necessary to wash him that much. It's too dry. Now that he's a toddler, he gets a bath every other day, sometimes everyday if he's got food all over him or had a bad poop! But I typically skip a day so that his skin doesn't get too dry.
LilaGrace'sMom replied: Every other day before bed, sometimes more depending on the outings we are doing. Lil gets a massage with lots of lotion each night before bed, so the dry skin has never been a problem.
luvbug00 replied: Mya got it evry other day before bed. now a days it's whenever.
luvmykids replied: When they were little we did it about every other night. Colt had such gigantic fat rolls and milk would dribble in there and it would STINK!! I'd just pour water over them, I figured like the milk enough would dribble in there to help, and I'd use a baby wipe the rest of the time.
A&A'smommy replied: Alyssa got bathed about 2-3x a week
1moremakes4 replied: That's exactly my problem! One day I was holding her while she was sleeping and her head was laid back and I thought "what is that smell?" My older daughter had NO fat on her so I never had this problem.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I give Andrew a bath twice a week, sometimes once a week.
TeagansMom609 replied: I give Matthew a bath every 2 days. He HATES baths.
kimberley replied: 2-3x/wk unless she needs more (ie milk bath ). i just hold her leaning back and make her look up to get into the folds. Kal is enamored with the water.
huggybugboy replied: I give miles a bath at least every other day, sometimes every day. The hair! OH THE HAIR!!! It gets so disgusting with food and everything else so I have to wash it all the time.
My3LilMonkeys replied: We bathe about 3x a week. It all depends on how dirty they are.
CAMSMOM1 replied: I voted once a day. Since he is a toddler, and is feeding himself, it usually becomes a mess, and there are days that he gets 2 baths! Or in the mornings, if he wet the sheets because his diaper was to full. Otherwise, I clean him off after meals with a wipe, and that does the trick.
When he was an infant, he was very, very, very chubby. He was 9 pounds when he was born, and just kept getting chunkier, with lots of rolls. Our Ped. doctor said that breastfeed babies have the really chubby cheeks. Anyways, milk getting in his neck was always a problem.
If she is scrunching her head down during the bath, and making it hard to clean, you can try using Johnson & Johnson Wash & Toss wipes. ( I can't remember the name of them) But they are disposable, and you run them under warm water and it has the baby soap that foams up. I used those to clean him when I was changing his diaper. It was great for the inbetween bath times. Or you can just use a wipe to clean the neck, and dry it good afterwards.
Usually newborns/infants don't need to bathe more than once or twice a week. But it's good to keep their rolls/skin clean in between baths. During her bath, you can try to hold a toy above her head, she she looks up, and quickly swipe her neck.
Jamison'smama replied: Both kids get a bath every day---occasionally we skip a day. Both have dry skin but a use the non-soap wash and lotion them up after the bath. I just love the clean baby smell and it is part of the routine.
LovinMyGirls replied: Natalie gets one every other night before bed.
Tylersmommy replied: Tyler has gotten a bath once a day (sometimes twice) since he was old enough to get a bath (He was always spitting up or something and diaper wipes didn't help the smell much). Being a toddler now and feeding himself and going outside to play he always gets something in his hair no matter what he's doing. When he was younger we put lotion on him after his bath each time but now that he's a toddler his skin doesn't even get dry... maybe it's because we live in Florida and it's so humid all year round.
holley79 replied: Annika gets a bath just about every day. She is so hot natured that she sweats not to mention the many milk baths she takes.
mckayleesmom replied: Usually every other day, but of course it is more if they get into something messy.
MyPrincessGirls replied: Ella gets a bath every night. Not because she's dirty...but rather it helps her sleep better. I put a little lavender in the water and get in with her. she ususally naps while I'm holding her in the water..lol
She's a peices though.. so that explains the fact that she can sleep in the tub. lol
mommycat2244 replied: Corvin gets one everyday. At first it was about 3x a week, but the formula started to dribble out the sides of his mouth and (even though we would take a rag and wash his face) he started to get red splotches all over his face. So now he gets one every night before bed. And it actually has helped with the red splotch thing and it gets him calmed down enough to actually go to sleep. He's one of those babies that fights sleep (which must be genetic bc my mom and grandmother talk about me and my father doing that when we were babies!!! ) so the bath before bedtime is wonderful at calming him down some. I use the lavender bath baby products (soap, baby oil, lotion) and he gets rocked and goes to sleep immediately afterwards.
Ashlynn's Mommy replied: I bathe my baby everyday. one day I use soap, and the next day I just let her splash around in the water. I alternate, so her skin doesn't dry out. I use aveeno baby products, they don't have soap in them, and everything else drys out her skin.
Cece00 replied: The baby gets one about 2-3xs a wk. She really doesnt get dirty, but she loves baths.
My boys get one pretty often...they play outside, get dirty, sweaty, etc...so I'd say probably just about every day...sometimes not if they've been outside playing in the water or if they were inside all day.
MaxandSamsMom replied: I used to bath Max every day when he was an infant. Then I had Sam and had no time so poor old Sam only gets a bath twice a week.
boyohboyohboy replied: i usually do it once a week, since jake has eczema.
Zoey replied: I bath Owen everynight. It's part of his bedtime routine. He loves his tubby time!
