Battle of the wills - Daddy vs. Kylie
coasterqueen wrote: Ryan is home with the girls today because our sitter has surgery tomorrow. Anyways, they were getting ready to meet me for lunch and Kylie was getting dressed. She came out of her bedroom in a hot pink ruffled skirt that has attached undies and a hot pink shirt. Dh looked at her in shock and told her to march right back to her room and change that skirt, that she wasn't going out in it because it was way too short for a lady.
Well they had a battle of the wills and Kylie won. I shouldn't laugh because she shouldn't had gone out in the house in it. She hasn't worn it in a while and I had no idea she got too tall for it.
DH said to her at lunch "as soon as we get home you ARE taking that thing off and I'm throwing it away!". She just looked at him like "we'll see about that one".
I can just see the future now with those two and what Kylie wears. We do not let her wear things that are short and dresses usually have to be way below the knee, but I guessed I missed one.
luvmykids replied: Poor daddy is in for it!
Kaitlin'smom replied: sorry I dont mean to laugh. At least they have the shorts/undies underneith. I had a pink skirt on Kait the other day and did not realise it was shorter than I like, I was very thankful it had sorts attached under it.
watch out dad....
Maddie&EthansMom replied: That's cute. We've been thru this one so many times. It does get worse as they get older, btw.
coasterqueen replied: Yeah, Kylie is not allowed to wear ANY skirt/dress without either the shorts attached or she has to wear shorts under them. The other day she got out of the house w/o them underneath her dress and we promptly stopped at the closest store and bought a pair of shorts. Luckily I bought clearanced shorts.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I prefer going out she is not able to show her udies but at home I dont mind so much.
some of todays 'short' fashions....NO WAY not in my house.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Too funny!!
I agree... fashion sucks... heck my daughters can't even wear a two piece bathing suit. And nothing that shows any innapropriateness.
amynicole21 replied: Hee hee! We have days like that far too often Sophia loves strappy tank tops and skirts, and tries REALLY hard to sneak out of the house without shorts on underneath She says they feel too bunchy.
kimberley replied: too funny!
MommyToAshley replied: LOL! That is funny. Your poor DH.
At least it had the attached undies. If Ashley wears as skirt, it is usually the skorts too. They're shorter, but they are the same length as shorts so no biggie.
Kaitlin'smom replied: I do let Kait wear a 2 piece bathing suite, they are cute on her, maybe cause I am jealouse. However I do find it much easier for her to go potty with 2 pc rather than 1 pc. Now when she gets older might be another story
coasterqueen replied: Oh gosh Kylie had a two piece as a baby and Dh quickly nipped that one in the bud. So no 2 pieces here. Course Megan has a tankini but it doesn't show a thing, no stomach anything.
When my niece was here for her birthday she wore a 2 piece and Ryan gave his sister a few choice words about it.
MommyToAshley replied: I prefer two pieces at this age... it SOOO much easier when they have to go potty. I don't think there is anything wrong with it at this age. Ashley has a one piece, but I seldom put it on her for the reason mentioned above.
coasterqueen replied: I hope I didn't offend you. Don't get me wrong they look cute on kids, I and my husband just don't prefer them, though. I don't want to tell my daughter she can wear them now and then expect her not to wear one later when they will look VERY inappropriate on her. Tankini will be fine when she's older, but a two piece...nope. Who knows maybe she'll change my mind later. There were many things I was not allowed to wear as a teen etc, and I dealt with it, so will my girls. For us it would just be sending mixed signals for our girls to let them wear them now and not later. But like I said maybe some day our minds will be changed.
I do agree they are easier for them to go to the bathroom, but Kylie has never had a problem with a one piece and if she does she just asks DH or I to help her out which is fine.
MommyToAshley replied: Oh, I wasn't offended at all. And, likewise, I hope I didn't offend you. We all have different choices we make as parents, and I respect that.
A&A'smommy replied: HA that cracks me up I agree look out dad!!!
But I'm the same way as you Karen I will not allow alyssa to wear a two piece now because i don't want her to think it will be okay when she is a teenager, a tankini will be fine though as long as it doesn't show belly.
