Before and After - pics of the study
Maddie&EthansMom wrote: Just a plain white room, drab and dreary. I should have taken a pic before I removed my computer and stuff. It was wall to wall in boxes and JUNK. My computer was on this little drop leaf table in the cubby hole (with the wires hanging down)

After I scraped the ceiling...

it's now all over the floor...

The cave. When we put mud on the walls it got so cold and damp in here. It was a creepy feeling. I was glad when that stuff dried.

Painting done and floors down...lacking trim.

Drumroll Please............

Maddie&EthansMom replied: We need some things, still. Those are paper shades on the window until I figure out what curtains I want. I need a floor protector (we are using cardboard at the moment) I need to hang pics and finish replacing the drawer pulls on our old file cabinet (under the window by the chair...right now it has different pulls on it )
I'm really pleased with the outcome. It is so nice and relaxing in here. I love this room. I can't wait to start on our room.
C&K*s Mommie replied: WOW! That looks GREAT Aimee! I love that color what is it called?? You two did a very good job!!
Is that your DH in the cubby with his face down?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: The color showed up different in the pictures, actually. It is a little more brown. It is a Ralph Lauren color...I can't think of it to save my neck at the moment.
Yes, that's SCotty. He wasn't sad, just a little tired. I had done most of hte texture before he got home...he just doesnt' like to have his picture taken. He was hiding his face.
kayla's mama replied: Oh WOW!!!!!! It looks great.
mckayleesmom replied: Its gorgeous Aimee....Is all the furniture new? Very pretty.....I want a study now.
Our Lil' Family replied: Beautiful! I love that furniture!!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: It's all new except the file cabinet under the window. I love love love it. I couldnt' wait to put my books in the bookcase. Now I need to fill drawers with bills and stuff.
mckayleesmom replied: where did you buy it...I like that stuff...I love darker wood personally and am constantly looking for new furniture.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Office Depot It's the Christopher Lowell city collection
Here's the link....City Collection
We happened to catch it on sale. It does go on sale pretty often. We got 20% off all of it, $25 off a $300 order and $75 off a $500 order, then the chair was an additional $25 off (on top of the 20%) I basically got the barrister bookcase free. And in order to get all the sales I had to place separate orders, but it was delivered the same time and the store was great about doing this for me. I was spending a lot of money (well, it's a lot of money to us) and I was trying to pinch pennies where I could and be smart about it.
BAC'sMom replied: Looks GREAT!
Sarah&Mackenzie replied: Looks really nice!
punkeemunkee'smom replied: OH WOW!!! It looks GREAT! Taylor is on my lap and she said "Oh no somebody made a mess!" When she saw the picture of the floor with the texture on it. Then with all the completed pics with your new furniture, she kept saying "Look momma-they got a new house!" "Oh Pretty!" "That's lovely!" (Lovely is one of her favorite words right now ) I must agree with her it does look lovely!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: She's so sweet. I wish I had a new house. This will do for now, though. I'm really starting to like my house more since we are getting so much work done in it.
coasterqueen replied: Looks great Aimee!

5littleladies replied: Aimee-It looks wonderful!! You must be so proud of yourself. I wish I had a room like that to escape to.
Crystalina replied: O.K. 3 things...
1) Is that your neighbors house in the first pic? Wow! That's close.
2)I'm not a freaky person or anything but unless you spilled something on your "before" and "during" pics you have got some major orbs floating around that room. That could be a very good thing.
3) I love the room. Very classy.
A&A'smommy replied: Oh Amiee its incredible I LOVE it!!!!
luvmykids replied: Wow, that is fantastic! You guys are a great team! I'm jealous!!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Yep, we are in a subdivision, but they aren't as close as most of the homes around here and probably not as close as they appear in the pics.
And no ghosts....I haven't cleaned my lens.
Thanks for the compliments.
3xsthefun replied: It looks really good!
jcc64 replied: Looks great, Aimee! On my monitor, the color looks like caramel. Very pretty! You did a great job- you're inspiring me to get started on my kitchen mini-makeover. No new cabinets or counters- just new paint on the walls, and new hardware on the cabinets. I'll let you know how it turns out.
fashionmumofboys replied: It looks great.
You guys did a wonderful job.
MommyToAshley replied: WOW! Aimee, the transformation is amazing!!!! You really did a great job.
I really want to remodel our office because we spend so much time in there. I love the furniture you picked out. I looked at the link you provided, and they didn't have "workstation" type desks in the same style. Do you know if they had them in the store? DH and I could use the executive type desks but we would need workstations for the servers and other computers, and I would want all the furniture to match.
I really need to do so much around here... We still haven't finished painting the baseboards from when we painted last year.
My2Beauties replied: Grr I can never see your pics for some reason, I will check them at home! I bet it looks stunning!
CAMSMOM1 replied: Wow, you weren't kidding when you said you were doing some spring cleaning! That's amazing! Look what a few days can do, a total transformation! I loooove the room! Great Job Aimee! I bet you can't stop starring at that room and everything you guys accomplished in there. You should be pretty proud of yourself, you did an awesome job! We're going to start redecorating next month. I hope we can do as good of a job as you did.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Our kitchen is on the list, too. I can't wait to see how yours turns out.
The color is more of a chocolate color. My friend who saw it in person said it reminds her of chocolate frosting (with the texture and everything) She said "It makes me want to lick the walls." It looks different in different lighting. If I have the large overhead light on it takes on a bronze color. It looks really calm and comforting in person.
I do want to spend all my time in here. Today we are getting the cable hooked up back here with the DVR so in the evenings when they go to bed I can relax with a glass of wine and enjoy all my shows Guilt free of course b/c my house is really taking shape.
The chair that is in here...we have 2 of them....It is the MOST comfortable chair It isn't that great to look at, but we sat in it and fell in love.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I didn't see them in this same style of furniture...did you check the other collections? There were more that were really nice, but this one had the pieces we needed. We were really pleased that we were able to find something that fit in the cubby hole and would accomodate our tv and all our junk.
We are no where NEAR finished around here. We still need to put up trim (baseboards and crown moulding) in the living room. It's been without for 4 YEARS! A little more time and a lot more money would be nice. Our list is so long.
