Bella is getting a Daddy doll!

Here is an example. Basically they take a picture and make a doll out of it to make deployment easier for kids of troops/soldiers. Hopefully while DH is gone she will sleep with the doll at night and not miss him soooo much. Of course it's not as great as the "real" daddy but maybe it will make deployment a little easier. I'll probably break out in tears every time I see it though.
Forgot to add DH can record a message to her and it can be sewn into the doll, so every time Bella pushes on his stomach, she'll hear daddy.
BAC'sMom replied: Now that is the MOST BEAUTIFUL idea I have seen in a long long time.
I hope she enjoys her Daddy doll!
stella6979 replied: What an awesome idea! Like you said, not as good as the real Daddy, but maybe it will give her some comfort when he's not there.
Donna027 replied: Awww that is the most adorable thing Ive seen!! How did you find it? Thats so sweet
Calimama replied: I read it off a military forum!
lisar replied: that is a great idea. I hope she likes it and dont miss him so much.
C&K*s Mommie replied: That is really sweet!
cameragirl21 replied: what a wonderful idea! when is your DH leaving and where is he going? for how long will he be gone? how do you two communicate while he's gone and how often? i think it must be very hard to be a military wife but i think you found a great idea to help your child get thru this! now, how to get your DH thru this as i'm sure he'll miss Bella like crazy!
Calimama replied: He's going to Iraq.. I know the exact part but I can't say anything for safety reasons. He leaves during the summer for 7 months. He's a sniper so he goes out for "missions", during those times there will be no communication. When he's back at the base he can call, email, etc. Last time he was in Iraq I was able to talk to him at everyday as long as he wasn't on a mission. Missions go from about 2 days to 1 1/2 weeks.. so it just depends. The sad part is.. if someone passes away they are all cut off from the phones so the news doesn't spread to the family before the Marine Corps has a chance to tell them, also sometimes the phones are down. It really just depends on the circumstances. I've learned no news... is good news.
Oh and yes, he's beyond heartbroken about leaving Bella.
cameragirl21 replied: wow, 7 months is a very long time to be away from your family. i would never ask the exact location, i just meant what country or what part of the world is all. it must be difficult for you, you are a strong woman.
stella6979 replied: Well I definately commend him for making such sacrifices to serve our country. I'll keep you all in my thoughts.
Calimama replied: There chance he might be sent away to school instead. School is Virgina for 3 months.. I DEFINITELY prefer that one.
cameragirl21 replied: school for what? and would you and Bella be allowed to come?
Calimama replied: MOS ( Mode of Specialty) school, he wants to get out of his grunt unit and in to something that would give him skills for the civillian world. Right now is MOS is a sniper so he has to learn a whole new MOS. We can't go with him but we can talk to him whenever we want and go visit him if we want.
cameragirl21 replied: oh, well that does sound much better than going to iraq, hope he gets it!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I think that's very sweet!
DillsMommy replied: What a sweet idea, I've never heard of that before. Maybe you can order an extra one for yourself.
Cece00 replied: What a cute idea.
Your husband is so awesome for going & protecting the citizens of our country. I really admire & have lots of respect for people who are in the armed forces. My BIL is in basic right now, my poor DH misses him so much.
TANNER'S MOM replied: Thinking of him leaving his family makes me cry. I understand the love for his country and I feel the same love. I think we often forget how hard it is for the wives and I guess I want to thank you and Bella too. It's so hard. If he goes to Iraq I pray for safe passage back home and god speed.
gr33n3y3z replied: That is a GREAT Idea
CantWait replied: Oh Gosh, I wish I had that for all the times Ron was away on tour or whatever other stupid military thing he had to do. I wonder if they take Canadian orders. I've bookmarked it just in case dh has to leave anytime soon.
grapfruit replied: Those are so great. I'm sitting here trying not to bawl though. I hope your DH gets to stay state side!!!!!
redchief replied: What a neat idea.
