Big meat eaters?
coasterqueen wrote: I was putting together my list of meat to email the farmer I get it from and realized we buy a lot of meat. ICK! I never realized it when I would just shop for it at the grocery store every 2 weeks, but now that we are ordering our meat once a month it really seems like a lot. Kinda makes me a bit sick looking at how much we eat.
Is your family big meat eaters?
gr33n3y3z replied: I myself is a huge pasta eater minus the meat Seafood I will eat a lot of also but only fresh from my father in-laws boat I hate Chicken and ground up beef of any kind
On the other hand the other 5 loves meat of any kind but liver So are They big meat eaters Yes lol
3_call_me_mama replied: We are fairly big meat eaters, and switching ot organic meat really cut that back. he prices cna get astronomical if we aren't careful. We try to do chicken more than we were but i cna only stand so much chicken. We also try to do a lot of meals that have small amounts of meat incorporated into it. Liek stirfry, or chicken broccoli and alfredo sauce. So it takes half the amount of meat and everyone still has plenty. Steak, forget it, we all LOVE it and usually have to cook a fair amount for all of us. Also we use ground turkey in place of ground beef a lot of times, as it is cheaper adn healthier.
moped replied: BIG meat eaters here.......on sunday I went and spend over $150 on meat alone, then the rest of the groceries for about 2 weeks came to $340.......meat meat meat.
booey2 replied: Yup the boys love their meat, be it chicken, beef or pork, they are not big fans of the seafood but DH and I will eat shrimp and fish.

edited to add: I am still waiting for a deep freeze, DH talked me into a fridge for the basement about 6 years ago instead of a deep freeze , but I think our neighbour who was widowed last year may be giving us her freezer because she doesn't want it anymore.
OOPs wanted to add, my cousin lives on a beef farm and we are always wanted to buy beef from them but have no where to put it.
coasterqueen replied: Carrie,
Ground turkey, huh? Does it taste just as good as ground beef? Do you notice a difference?
And yes, organic meat is expensive but well worth it for the healthiness of our families.
MyLuvBugs replied: Oh yeah. HUGE meat eaters here. But DH is more than I am. If I could get him to try a veggie burger, we'd be eating those instead of turkey burgers. LOL
But my parents are the worst. They have a Standing Deep freeze dedicated just to meat, PLUS another refridge/freezer in the garage with meat in it and the freezer in the kitchen with meat. Then again he's a hunter and eats all he kills But they've been so full sometimes that they'll bring stuff to me and my brother.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: to give you an idea of how much meat my family eats... a 9 cubic foot freezer lasted us about 1 year worth of meat, from when we paid for our organic meat.
Momof3inMe replied: We are big meat eaters here also.
Kaitlin'smom replied: more now than we were as we have a freezer FULL of organic meat from MIL's cow. I still have to buy fish, chicken, pork but I get all that from schwans.
3_call_me_mama replied: Well when i use ground turkey in meat balls it actually taste better IMO. And same for goulash. Or tacos. In a burger form, not so much. they are kinda dry. But we do gorund chicken burgers sometimes. Other than that we havent' noticed a big difference. (well no one has said anythign if they have! LOL turkey or chicken sausage is a big hit here too. (eitehr homemade or store bought) they eat it like a bratwaurst. Were getting our meat from our CSA this fall. So we'll have a freezer full then. But now we buy it here and there
CantWait replied: Just about every night. At least 2 times a day, or 1 meat and a portion of eggs.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Not so much here. But I was raised in a house where EVERY meal had to include some form of meat and at least 29 days out of the month there were potatoes on the dinner table, so I don't eat either of them quite as much now.
coasterqueen replied: That was our house too. Was just about everything FRIED too? I can stand meat and potatoes still, but my stomach churns at the thought of fried foods.
TheOaf66 replied: i am the only real meat eater of the family, the rest of em like chicken and pasta...I need red meat burgers, steaks, hamburger (meatballs) they are a necessity for little old me.
