Bottle?

MotherForever2043 wrote: What kind are you guys buying, or what kind did you guys buy? I was just curious to know what other people prefer. These are the ones I got. The ones that have no bottoms. They are plastic bags inside. I heard they are better because it prevents less gas and prevents collic.

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Johnny is very picky. One week he will use anything the next he will only use a specific bottle (and will refuse everything until I get a bottle that he wants) so we have lots smile.gif

We started with the ones you have, then moved to Avent, then Soothie, after that he went with regular shape Dr. Browns and from there Regular shaped Vent Aire (he will use those interchangeably). Now his favorites seem to be the Dr. Browns/ Vent Aire.

3xsthefun replied: With Kaitlynn I used the Playtex kind with the drop ins.

But... with Maegan I had to use the vent aire's because she was so picky.

I'm thinking about going with the Playtex Vent Aire's this time but might get a couple of the regular drop in kind too.

moped replied: Those are what we used! Loved them

lovemy2 replied: With Olivia we started with the platex ones with the bags - hated them - thought they were a real pain we ended up the the ventaire with her...with Dylan - let's see, we started with Avent, went to Dr. Brown's which I loved - but he has cereal in his bottle because of the reflux and with 6 ozs of formula we put 6 tsp of cereal and they get clogged - so we are now on ventaire....and sometimes avent...but mostly the ventaire....

We have a fortune invested in bottles between the two kids.....

MoonMama replied: We use the Playtex drop-ins too and LOVE them. thumb.gif

Really? How?

DillsMommy replied: I'm gonna try the NUK ones. I've heard they are really good at preventing gas and colic. I guess its worth a try. With Dylan I didn't use a certain kind. Usually just watever was cheapest, I kinda feel bad now, but I never had a problem. happy.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied:
I'm just curious as to why you would feel bad? I used the cheap bottles with both of my girls and we never had a problem. As long as your child tolerates them well, I don't see what the big deal is.

HuskerMom replied: We use the playtex ones with the dropins. I like them just cuz they're so easy to clean smile.gif

moxee24 replied: I bought bottles for both my children before they were born. It is better to have them one hand even if you are not planning on using them. You never know what might happen to prevent you from breastfeeding. Or you might like a night out and you pump and you need a bottle for the babysitter. There are so many reasons to have bottles on hand even if you are breastfeeding.

As for the type of bottles I used, with both my children I either used Gerber or the WalMart Parents Choice. Neither one of my kids had any problems with them and they were relativly cheap.

MotherForever2043 replied:
I am planning on breastfeeding as well.

Our Lil' Family replied:
Us too!

hopefulmomtobe replied: Here is my take on bottles...the more you try to reduce the gas bubbles...the harder they are to get a good burp out and it gets surpressed. I have tried several different bottles with the kids and always fall back on the plain and simple normal bottle from long long ago. I feel if they get some bubbles, then they will burp easier and feel better. Kind of like us drinking a coke and getting a good burp out that makes us feel better...same applies to them (no coke of course...) but you know what I mean.

That is JMO from my experience.

lisar replied: I used those with Raygen when she could use them. At first she had to have the premie nipples.

gabriella replied: We used Avent because they are sort of seen as the best, in the UK that is. blahblah.gif blush.gif However, they are a little pricey. You can also buy different teats enabling for cereal bottle feeding, which prevent clogging and regulate the speed and amount that comes through. biggrin.gif They're known to prevent trapped wind too baby.gif

ediep replied: we used those with Jason and they were fine.... although its a little bit of a pain to try to never run out of those bags....

we tried them with Emma but she was a little colicy at first, so I moved to the Dr. Browns..... don't know it they made any difference in her colic, but I stayed with the DR. Browns because I didn't have to worry about running out of the bags, or puncturing the bag if I put the bottle in my diaper bag or purse.

Mommy2BAK replied: I'm planning on trying out the doctor brown bottles.

Kaitlin'smom replied: when we did finally get Kaitlin to take a bottle she would only use the playtex drop ins. I like them never an issue at all. She was primarly BF though.

lesliesmom replied: I used the Playtex w/ liners (not drop-ins just the bags that wrap over the sides) for all three of my kids. They worked great and I never had issues with them. I like them because as my kids got older they would suck the air out and crawl around with it in their mouth (one actually fell asleep with it holding up his head). I switched to the plain bottles (no liners) - Gerber I think - when they turned one to wean them off of a bottle. Never had a problem with either.

Boo&BugsMom replied:
That is what we had for Tanner. He was SUPER colicy and it helped. He had way too much gas and his belly hurt with regular bottles. I also bought the bags, even the generic ones worked well, and a box of them lasted a very long time. I have these on hand for this one too.
