Brünig, Grimsel and Furka Pässe - pictures from today

redplaydoh wrote: Today DH took us to an incredible area of Switzerland. The heat was brutal where we live, so we decided to head up to the mountains for some cooler fresh air. It was already in the 90's by lunchtime and when we got to the mountains it was a crisp 63 degrees.

The first picture is of the boys at Grimsel. This area is surrounded by lakes and dams. At the top is a viewing area where you can possibly catch a glimpse at a Murmeli which is something like a groundhog. My two didn't stay still long enough to see one.


DH had to take a picture of our car in the mountains while we still have our US plates on it. Just 3 more months and we have to give them up. But you can see in the short time we were there a mountain storm started brewing in the background.


To get up the mountain and back down you have to go through a lot of hairpin curves and winding roads... notice the roadway zig-zagging along the mountain on the right side of the pic?


This is the Rhone Glacier... it's hard to see but most of that is ice coming off of it.


Here we all are at Furkapass on the way back down.
