BuildABear Party Pics - for MamaJAM and anyone else interested

MommyToAshley wrote: Here's a few pics and a short video of the Build A Bear party Ashley went to last week. Sorry it's a little late, Judy I know you decided on something else. But, I thought I would "report" back just in case you were still interested. The birthday girl turned 5, so most of the girls were older than Ashley. But, they all had a blast. Ashley still talks about it. It's a neat idea for this age and even a little older. The only downfall I saw was that all the kids had to move to the food court (through the mall) to eat cake because they weren't allowed to have it in the store. But, the trip to the food court wasn't too bad. And, like I said, all the kids had a blast.

Here's a short video of them washing their bears... so cute! (might take a minute to download)
Washing the bears

And, here's a few pics. For some reason I don't have a pic of the bears after they dressed them. I'll have to take a pic of Ashley's bear with the dress.

They went through this whole routine with the heart that went into the bear.. they had to rub it on their cheeks to make is cuddly, rub it on their nose for something else (I forget), and then they had to make a wish. It was cute. All the guests had two hearts, one for their own bear, and then they also made a wish on a heart and put it in the birthday girls bear. So cute. wub.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied: Isn't that place so much fun?? I was surprised at how much fun I had there. The kids loved it. thumb.gif

Maddie wants to have her party there, but it can get really expensive. AND I didn't like the fact that they don't have a party room. rolleyes.gif Anyway, as you know, I told her she could invite a few friends and I think I will buy one of those big cookies and some ice cream in the food court. happy.gif

MommyToAshley replied:
I agree... a party room would be a great idea. I wonder why they don't have one? The person doing the party still kept them pretty organized though.

I bet Maddie will have a blast! Be sure to take lots of pics, I can't wait to see them.

coasterqueen replied: How cool! What a great idea. Although, i think that one would be WAY out of my pocketbook range. Just to get one bear is out of my range. happy.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I made a stuffed monkey with spiderman jammies for Logan when he was in ICU after his last surgery. He lugs it around by it's tail and puts it's slippers on his own feet. I had a blast there and it really took my mind off my sick little man.

punkeemunkee'smom replied: Those are great pics! We had fun there just building Tay a bear-we always get things in the mail for b-day parties "starting at $10 per child" which is not bad but I think that is just the basic bear,no clothes or anything-I know it gets ALOT higher and I wondered how you would say just the basic bear and 1 outfit to a bunch of 5 year olds wink.gif blush.gif I would LOVE to do Taylor's b-day there but it is a pretty good drive and I would want to be able to go wild but don't want to spend $500 or something and I think you could REAL FAST! emlaugh.gif

DeeDee-Ashley's hair ties look adorable! wub.gif I made some for Tay with blue maraboo on them and it cracks me up when she wears them! emlaugh.gif wub.gif

3xsthefun replied: Cute pictures! Looks like fun!

Wish we had one of those around here.

MamaJAM replied: That looks like a lot of fun. Definately something to keep in mind for us -- especially when the kids are a bit older and only want to invite a few close friends.

We've been to Build-A-Bear once last summer with the kids -- it's so much fun (though too pricey for a big party for us yet).

Thanks for sharing the pics. biggrin.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: I was viewing items on the Build a Bear website, and it really was not that expensive. Actually far more inexpensive than I would have imagined, depending on what you set the budget (purchase limit) at.

luvmykids replied:
Ditto!

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
Ethan has the monkey. His name is Fred the monk-monk laugh.gif He has to sleep with that thing every night. He needs some clothes, though. emlaugh.gif He's a naked monk monk.

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: that looks like alot of fun smile.gif I keep telling dh that I wasnt to take Katy some day while he goes and does something fun with Matt.
For those of you wishing you had a build a bear we currently have a bear factory in our mall and build a bear is going in like 10 stores away biggrin.gif

A&A'smommy replied: AWWW TOTALLY cute and it looks like SOOO much fun!!!! love2.gif

MamaJAM replied:
I called the one near our house while searching for a party for DD#3 in March -- the prices of animals were $12-$25 each....and the clothing was $4-$20 per outfit. Yes -- you can set a price limit on what your guests can get - but $16-$45 PER GUEST just isn't in our budget.
DD is still the age where the kids generally invite the whole class to parties -- there are 18 kids. We thought about just inviting the girls - there are 14 girls. When asked who her closest friends are -- DD lists everyone. Setting even a limit of 10 just wasn't going to work.

fashionmumofboys replied: It looks like so much fun.

Great pictures, and your daughter is so beautiful. wub.gif
