Camping???
MommyToAshley wrote: My sister wants us to go camping with them next weekend. hahaha. You would have to know me to know why this is funny. I am so not the outdoor camping sort of person. I like a bed, a hot shower, and modern appliances. I just don't see the joy in roughing it. I don't mind the campfire activities, the fishing or the hiking... I told her I wouldn't mind spending the day there, it's the sleeping outside that I couldn't hack.
coasterqueen replied: Well trust me as someone who LOVES to camp. It's NO FUN WHATSOEVER to go camping with someone who doesn't like camping/the outdoors. Seriously. It really is no fun. So if I was you i'd not go.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Well, that depends on her idea of camping.
I am a country girl who loves to camp - to me, camping is in a tent, cooking on a fire, no running water, etc. You *might* have a bathroom and/or shower, but you half to walk quite a while to get to it.
However, I now go camping with my IL's mostly. To them, camping is in your camper, which has a bathroom, stove, fridge, heat, AC, etc. To me, that's spending time in a small house.
So if she has a camper with modern conveniences, go. You'll probably enjoy yourself. If she likes to really camp, I'd stay home if I were you.
luvbug00 replied: I camped alot as a child but now I'd rather be like you Dee Dee. I'll stay at the motel 8 and meet ya at the fishing spot in the morning after my shower and GMA.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I couldnt' agree more!
b&bsmom replied: When we go camping, we sleep on an air matteress and our tent is really nice so it really doesn't feel much different then sleeping at home. A little colder though but other than that we have no issue with it.
redchief replied: Dee Dee, you could always start with a tent in your backyard to see if that's something you could stand to do. Frankly I loved camping. I haven't done it in so long, other than the RV at the race, not exactly roughing it... lol
MommyToAshley replied: She means in a tent in the woods. There's bathroom facilities close by though. She said she has an extra air matress, but I still don't think I can do it. I'd be up all night thinking that bugs are crawling on me or thinking a bear is going to get us.
MommyToAshley replied: You are my camping twin... want to go camping sometime?
CantWait replied: Lucky you. I hope you can make the best of it and have a good time. I'm so jealous.
DVFlyer replied: I loved camping as a kid, but lately, it seems I'd rather sleep in a motel/ hotel or RV. I'm excited about hiking and camping with the kids, though.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: I'm with you on that one Nadia!
My family has a cabin up in northern Maine in the middle of no where. We spent lots of time there when I was a kid, and let me just say, its not as fun as it used to be!! DH and I went up there last summer....and spent all of 24 hours and left. We drove around and took lots of pictures of the scenery. I told him stories about when I was a kid up there and all the traditions. It's more for the hunters I think.
3xsthefun replied: I love to camp. But if you really don't like it, I probably would not go. Usually we sleep in a tent and have a air mattress but this year we are taking the inlaws camper.
Ashlynn's Mommy replied: I love camping. I go about every weekend in the summer. Give it a try, i'm sure you will have fun.
Boo&BugsMom replied: We go camping every year with the hubby's side of the family. I am NOT the roughing it type gal either. We cheat and rent a trailer. It has a shower, appliances, etc. However, they aren't all that large and they are in sad shape where we go. This year we are going the weekend after the 4th of July. It's actually quite fun without the roughing it part...I'm a wimp! I don't do tents!
luvmykids replied:
I agree, it depends on their idea of camping. I like it for a night or two and thats about it. But if it's really not your thing either way, don't go.
coasterqueen replied: Reading this made me think of a good friend of mine. Her and her DH went camping with us and they never told us that she did not like camping. She complained a lot which drove me batty but was really strange is she told us at one point she was going to take a shower and then didn't come back for HOURS. We looked everywhere for her, called her cell, etc and nothing. She finally showed up and said "I drove 2 hours to Grandma's house to get my shower". Um, ok. Then the next morning her hubby got out of the tent (we were already up and having coffee). We asked him where his wife was and he said "probably Grandma's".
