Camping poll

We have a debate going here. Everyone I know owns an RV and they haul it around with their big trucks and stay at state parks and call that camping.
They acutally look at me like I'm nuts for owning a tent. Personally, I don't think its REALLY camping unless there are no people around for miles and miles and you have to worry about a Moose stomping your head in through your tent. Catching your dinner in the creek and roasting it over a campfire.
lisar replied: I voted stay in campground in an rv. But technically speaking we dont use an rv. Its a 16ft long trailer that we sleep in. It has power and lights and all that but no bathroom or shower and no ac. But we do have fans.
Anyways if you are wanting to go camping check the place out really good. We went last week and it was BAD. The showers were really nice and they cleaned them twice a day. But the swimming hole was joke. We ended up lining the bed of dh's truck with a tarp and we just so happen to have a waterhose so we filled the bed of his truck with water and let the kids play. There were 12 of us all together. That made for 6 kids. Ad the ticks were every where and ofcourse we got chiggers. Which sucks cause they still kinda itch. Sorry to ramble. I will post pics on monday with the truck full of water. It was fun then.
My3LilMonkeys replied: When I was a kid we always did the tent camping, sometimes in a state park/campground and sometimes in the middle of nowhere. Nowadays when we go camping we go to campgrounds with the ILs in their camper that has AC, a bathroom, a microwave, etc. I enjoy doing both.
my2monkeyboys replied: When we camp it is typically in at a camp site in a park, but we have also tossed around the idea of camping out on our land - no one around, no running water, no electricity. We also would never be against having a camper/RV to sleep in. We are just poor!
stella6979 replied: RV's can be fun, but I just don't think it's camping unless you're totally roughing it.
Our Lil' Family replied: Tim and I "argue" about this all the time. My dad has a 5th wheel camper, maxed out, cable and all....THAT'S my kind of camping. He laughs at me about it. He is a tent man all the way.....YUCK...no thanks! I could do without the cable tv but I need A/C and a blowdryer!
luvmykids replied: RV's are not for camping, they're just mobile hotel suites
Right now you can't camp many places here b/c of fire season, it HAS to be at a designated camp ground. But normally we like to find a little trail somewhere and four wheel it until we find a good spot.
TANNER'S MOM replied: Well I "can" camp both ways. But when the kids were little I discovered that it was alot easier, cleaner and sanitary to have running water. Now we have a big camper with AC, bathroom, shower etc. But we still throw a tent out and the kids sleep in it or my Dad does. I love electricity..lol I just like to shower especially if we are camping with the horses and after a day of riding you are nasty sweaty and you need to bath.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Just get me out underneath some big oak trees with a lake or river (or stream) nearby and I'll take it. I don't care if I'm in a tent, sleeping on the ground using only the nearby brush for a bathroom or in a decked out RV complete with a full shower. I just LOVE the outdoors.
However, my husband does NOT! He will only camp out in a cabin! He won't even go camping in an RV.
Calimama replied: Camping to me is in an RV. I've never been though so..
AlexsPajamaMama replied: My family owned a "hunting camp" up in northern maine in the middle of no where. It was a cabin in the woods on a "camp road" no electricity, you pee in an outhouse, and there are deer in the front yard. We did pitch tents there also, especually when tons of the family got together and went up there.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Definitely a tent, RV's are for wimps. I voted tent in a state park campground because that's all I've ever done, but I'd LOVE to hike out somewhere and camp miles away from everyone! I'm not so sure about the moose part though... maybe if he was on the other side of a big lake from me.
A&A'smommy replied: the one and only time I went we stayed at a local park that is sitting on the river, we had an rv with cable, tents and a little camper thing so we did it all it was a BLAST but there was so many of us that it wasn't as fun as it could have been.. there was some drama
msoulz replied: I am a princess who needs a potty so we haul the RV to the campground. The last time we tent camped I was 6 months pregnant with Erin, the air mattress deflated at night so my oversized behind was on the ground and my son had rolled up against me because the remaining air was squeezed into his side of the bed as I had 100 pounds on him. OH, and it rained, so my oversized behind was wet too. So I got up and went into the car.
No more tents for this princess!!!!
mom21kid2dogs replied: I think all of it (except for the last one) is camping. We just tent camped for the first time on Kelly's Island last week, in fact. I could take it or leave it. It seemed like a crazy amount of work for a few days. Our camp site was beautiful (right on the lake) but the domestic violence situation 2 tents down that went on for 2 hours (1-3am~thankfully O slept through it) was not my idea of relaxing.
My2Beauties replied: Well technically I have never been "camping" per se. When I was younger they had like these "camps" for kids we stayed in cabins and they had indoor bathrooms in the cabins etc... Now when we go down to Tennessee every 4th of July holiday we "camp out" in Dh's cousin's yard. He owns 10 acres. Everyone from the family comes down, usually anywhere from 70-100 people an bring their tent and set up in his yard. We do bring air mattresses and stuff. They have 2 1/2 baths in their home plus they have a pool and all that so to pee and stuff we go in the house not really camping I guess
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: I agree. Although I have to at least have an out house in the area and some clean water from a tap for cooking/shower. Other than that, I'm good.
moped replied: Nope don't like camping in a tent or an RV really....princess I suppose. This is what we just spent the last week in - it was pretty good camping
gr33n3y3z replied: This is real camping: Hiking in, carrying everything you need on your back, with no one for miles and miles and sleeping under the stars or in a tent.
