Can't Wait... How did your ultra sound go today?

MommyToAshley wrote: Share the details!

Edit: Oops, never mind, I guess it isn't until the 25th. Well, be sure to let us know how it goes!

CantWait replied: will do forsure Mommy, thanx!!! cool.gif

madaise replied: LOL, Dee Dee.. sounds like you can't wait as much as cantwait, can't! smile.gif

MommyToAshley replied: LOL Madaise!!! biggrin.gif

I do love hearing about how everyone is doing and updates on their pregnancy or baby. Maybe because I am considering another one...

sh.gif Did I say that out loud?

CantWait replied: To tell you the truth, my first son, the ultrasound almost wasn't a big deal to me. I couldn't see anything except the spine no matter what the technician pointed out. I felt like a horrible mom already. sad.gif

My first ultrasound with this baby I could see everything, the arms, legs, facial features, even the tiny fingers and toes. I was so happy I could see it all I cried and cried right there on the bed, the tech kept asking if I was alright. Of course I was, I was just so elated with happiness. emlaugh.gif

I can't wait to go on Tuesday.

And Mommy, shhhhh don't worry it's our secret lol sh.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Are you going to have one of the 4-D ultra sounds done? We had one done... it was just like that GE television commercial in which the lady is having the an ultra sound, then the song comes on "...the first time ever I saw your face..." and then they show a picture of the baby on the ultra sound and she starts crying.

The technology is amazing.. if your doctor or hospital offers it, I would recommend it. thumb.gif We had two of them done, both after 32 weeks and they came out great. We have both printed pictures and a video from the 4-D ultra sound.

I think the recommended time frame is between 26-32 weeks... you might want to verify the recommened time frame if you want to have one done.

CantWait replied: Sounds great but it's probably not an option we'll go through, I was so amazed with the regular ultrasound this time I don't think I'll need anything else.

The cost for anything here in alberta as is, well lets just say I don't want to know what the cost of that would be. wacko.gif

CantWait replied:
HOLY SMOKES!!!!!!!!!!!! redbounce.gif
I'm so excited, I just got back from my ultrasound a few hours ago and he's getting so big.
The ultrasound has confirmed what the first one said, that I am indeed at 24 weeks (16 to go).
Anthony Christian baby.gif is getting so big and he's very active. The tech had a hard time getting his heart beat or taking pictures cause he was constantly moving away.
I guess he's a little camera shy blush.gif
We got another picture of him, this time he has his little mouth open laugh.gif . Too cute.
I just thank goodness I'm allowed to pee now lol horray.gif

MommyToAshley replied: horray.gif Congrats...how neat! Sounds sooo cute!

Anthony Christian (love that name) sounds like he is going to keep you hoppin'. They say that if they are active in the womb that they are usually active once they are born too. And, I can speak from personal experience... this is true in our case. Ashley is bouncin' around all over the place up to the minute she goes to bed. LOL

The pics sound really cute! The ultra sound technology is really great now, isn't it. We have an ultra sound pic of Ashley sticking her tongue out. haha. If you get time, scan and upload a the pictures for us to see!

Did your doc give you an estimate on size? Our doc wouldn't estimate size.

Wishing you a happy and healthy (and fast) 16 weeks!

MommyToAshley replied: You did it.. .you made me go look at Ashley's ultra sounds! I can't believe she is getting sooo big now. But,I just have to share. This pic doesn't really do the actual ultra sound justice, but here is my baby when she was still in my tummy:

(I hope you share yours too)

MommyToAshley replied: I'm about to cry just remembering back! bawling.gif (Tears of Happiness)

Now you are really starting to make me want to be pregnant again. CantWait, it's all your fault! LOL

CantWait replied: absolutely amazing Mommy!!!!!!
I totally wish I could share the pics, unfortunetly I don't have a scanner and don't know anyone at the moment who does.
If I find someone I promise I'll post.
My son was really active also, doing all sorts of odd things in my tummy, my mom use to laugh watching him do the wave on one side. Then there'd be this big lump. LOL. That saying was certainly right about my first son, he was a very hyper, active, smiling little one, and the bigger he gets (now 7 years) the more active he gets.
Just think about it Mommy, you get all the feelings of pregnancy now listening to us without all the nausea, vomitting and sleepiness LOL.
HEHE!!!

MommyToAshley replied:

haha CantWait, I guess that is one way to look at it! I still have the sleepless nights though, Ashley is still teething. sad.gif

I am so excited for you... you have to keep me informed so that I can get my preggy desires fulfilled through your posts. biggrin.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: okay Dee Dee but if you have another (go for it) dont think I am gonna follow hehehe. I am so not ready! however it is fun to read about others who are.

rolleyes.gif

MommyToAshley replied: I am not sure I am ready either. Just some mixed feelings I am having! I think I should wait until Ashley is a little older.

Kaitlin'smom replied: probably a good idea, cause from what I have been told you have to stop brestfeeding when your preggy. I dunno if really true and I am not looking to find out! wink.gif

CantWait replied: LOL Mommy you bet.
Forgot about those sleepness nights after there's a baby. wink.gif
What am I in for again lol.
Hope Ashley is feeling better soon. tongue.gif

HomeIsCool replied:

Um ... my opinion wasn't asked but ... no. Thousands of moms nurse through pregnancy every year. smile.gif Now, if your baby is under a year old, you might have to be more diligent than I ever was in giving them more solids or you may even have to supplement with formula but you do not have to wean due to pregnancy.

Personally ... I would not go for babies closer than 3 years apart ... I two that were 2 yrs 3 months (-4 days). IMO, that sucked big time. 2 1/2 years might be okay. But ... that is just me ... and I am not planning on anymore anyway. smile.gif

supermom replied: I can guarantee you that you do NOT have to stop BF if you are prego. I still BF Anders and he is almost three and we are due in August. There are a VERY FEW reasons you would have to stop because BF does release a VERY SMALL amount of Oxytocin (can cause contractions) but most women can tolerate that just fine. You just must be VERY diligent about your eating, vitamins, iron and calcium.

My doc has me on calcium supplements, because I don't know if I get enough during the day, even though I like milk, yogurt, etc.... but better safe than sorry (I use Tums!) Plus prenatals and iron, but both are no more than normal.

But there is no way I would give it up unless absolutely necessary. It was one of the first questions I asked my Doc - and I came armed with info from LaLeche League - giggle - just in case he told me I had to quit!!

Kaitlin'smom replied: I am glad to hear that for thoes wanting to BF while preggy. I am glad they have changed that I know back when my mom got preg. with me they (docs) told her she had to stop BF my sister. We are 18 months appart. Good to know, but again I am not looking on trying it smile.gif

HomeIsCool replied: Well, you will still find docs telling you to quit while pregnant. But ... there is no reason to. smile.gif Well, let me rephrase that .... you might have to wean if you have a history of early contractions. Some wean the minute they find out they are pregnant, miscarry and then they are mourning the loss of two relationships not just one. Nursing during pregnancy does not increase the risk of early miscarriage ... it will happen or it won't but nursing doesn't play a part.

I was nursing during my second pregnancy and we did have to wean ... but only because I had my gallbladder removed at 20 weeks gestation. After being in the hospital for 5 days by the time I got home ... it HURT to nurse and I was having lots of contractions the entire time I was nursing. I do have to say ... he went on to nurse for a year after the baby was born.

supermom replied: Yes, I find Anders wanting to nurse less, and think it's because 1) It hurts me because of tenderness 2) change in milk supply (both content and quantity) and 3) he's growing out of it

Although I have three others, they didn't nurse much past a year, because I was going to school full time and didn't have them around all the time like I do Anders. I wished they would have nursed longer, but never could get any of them to keep it up!

I also often wonder if he quits on his own before the baby gets here, if he'll want to go back to it when he sees baby getting some of "his" BM happy.gif - guess only time will tell!!

But yes, if your Doc does 'insist' on you quitting just because you are pregnant, read up on www.lalecheleague.org and also www.breastfeeding.com - they have some excellent articles on why and also how to tandem nurse! (can you tell I've been doing my homework?)
