Car accident..
Calimama wrote: My friend was bringing Miabella home and end up rear ending someone about a block from the house. She didn't have Miabella's car seat strapped in properly so the car seat flew forward when she hit. I know my friend feels terrible but I can't even look at her right now. She admitted to KNOWING that it wasn't in properly but didn't want to take up more time. It was a minor accident and luckily Miabella is okay.. she has a couple scratches, busted lip, an eye that's going to be black pretty soon, and a knot on her cheek.

MoonMama replied: OMG! Poor Miabella! I'm so glad she wasn't seriously hurt but even so it was preventable! I'm sorry but I would be and am so frickin MAD!!!!
AlexsPajamaMama replied: Ooh my poor baby girl I'd be furious with my friend too especially if she knew the seat was not in right and still went on her way. Glad to hear your baby is alright!!
luvmykids replied: OMG, I'm so glad it wasn't worse I'd be more than a little upset, especially her KNOWING it wasn't in right
sparkys2boys replied: OMG.. are you ok hun?? Is Miabella ok?? OMG OMG.. im so glad it wasnt any worse And you have every right to be ticked hun, your freind should have known better.. wow
stella6979 replied: Same here! How irresponsible of that friend and I'm sorry, but she would not be driving my kid around anymore. And the "I didn't want to take up more time" excuse would soooooo not fly with me. I probably would have given her a busted lip. With all that being said though, I'm so glad she's ok Denise. Did you happen to have her checked out? I was in a "fender bender" once and even though I felt fine afterwards, the next day I was very sore. I hope she heals up soon.
Calimama replied: She's not going to touch her let alone drive with her ever again. There was an ambulance because the lady my friend hit was pregnant so they checked Miabella as well to make sure she didn't have a concussion. She has an appointment with Ped in the morning because I'm a worrywart.
stella6979 replied: Not a worrywart, just a cautious Mommy. You said her seat flew forward? Does that mean all the marks on her face are from the dash? Man, I'm so furious right now and she's not even my kid. I can only imagine how you must feel. You're supposed to be able to trust your friends and when it comes to the saftey of your kids, who cares about how much time it takes? Poor little Miabella. I just want to give her a big hug.
Calimama replied: No, she was in the back seat in the middle, my friend drives an expedition that has a middle console, she hit, and Miabella flew forward and hit the back part of that console and the cup holder part.
stella6979 replied: Well I'm glad she's ok and I sure hope that pregnant lady she hit is ok too. Any idea how it happened? Was she just not paying attention?
Calimama replied: Everyone was fine luckily. The lady in front of my friend tried to stop fairly quickly for a yellow light, my friend was following too closely (and I guess she thought since it was yellow they could both go through pretty quickly) and not able to break in enough time and hit her. She was also on the phone though.
stella6979 replied: Ahhhhhh......that was my next question. I'm glad everyone is ok though and I really do hope your friend learned something today.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Glad to hear she is OK. I agree it is a good idea to get her checked by the ped - I was in a very minor accident - just skidded off the road, didn't even hit anything - and I was soooo sore the next day.
A&A'smommy replied: OMG I would be FURIOUS!!!!! I would take her to the ped. office too Let us know how her app. goes!!
Crystalina replied: W....T....H???
I would be livid! Livid. What would have happend if she would have been a brand new infant? Bad enough she's as young as she is but to not make sure a baby's seat is in securely? A baby that is not yours non-the-less?
Just one more reason my kids never get in the car with anyone (and yes, I know that is overly paranoid). I'm sure you trust your friend or MiaBella would never have been with her in the first place. Too bad this had to happen though and I'm glad it wasn't worse.
I was stopped at a light when Izabella was about that same age and I got rear-ended by a car going 45 MPH. The impact knocked my car into oncoming traffic (I was not hit again though) and Izabella had nightmares after that and it took forever for her not to be scared to get back in her car seat. She cried every time and looked so nervous. Hopefully Bella doesn't go through that.
moped replied: OMG the poor thing - poor thing.......i am so sorry.
Oh I am not sure how I would feel either about allt hat - carseats safety is soooooo important.
Oh I hope she is doing ok!
Did you get her checked out?
Cece00 replied: I am so glad she is OK! Poor baby!
boyohboyohboy replied: I totally agree, and with those facial injuries she might have hurt her little neck..whiplash.. my friend would be getting a big lecture and never allowed to drive her again
luvbug00 replied: wow, I mean wow! i'm bad enough with being careful with my daughter in the car, i am extra careful when i have my friend kims son in the car. But i make sure he is seated in properly. I remember the first time i had i him i made her dubble check that he was in right becuae i hadn't had an infant seat in so long. but if she wan't there i would have called her or asked somone. How incredibaly irresponcible of your friend I hope your baby girl is ok.
BAC'sMom replied: Glad she is ok, your very lucky
Keep us posted about what the Dr. says this morning.
I would be beyond livid with your friend
Mommy2Isabella replied: I am so sorry!! I am so paranoid that Isabella NEVER rides with anyone other than me or Sal, she has been in a car with my dad maybe 2 times and my mom MAYBE 2 times. I can't believe your friend said she knew the seat wasn't in right and went anyway ... hope she checks out ok today at the peds. Keep us posted!!
gr33n3y3z replied: See that alone not the accident it self would tick me off to no end with her being on the phone during it and not paying attension and assumed the car infront of her and also her could fly through a yellow light and caused harm to your child I hope they slam her with every ticket they can and I hope she sees this for years what a stupid idiot I'm glad Miabella is ok and I'm much happier that your taking her to the Dr's today Please keep us up dated
lovemy2 replied: Oh My Denise - not at all what you need and like everyone else said I would SOOO be PO'ed with that friend - car seats are nothing to mess with and it is sooo important that they are installed correctly and the child is in properly - even a minor fender bender such as this can have a nasty result as you know - BUT all that being said....
I am sooo glad Miabella is ok - please hug and kiss her for me - biggggg sloooopppy kisses....
Good idea to take her to the Ped and maybe give her some motrin cause I am sure she will be sore today - did you tell DH??
CantWait replied: I'm stunned and utterly shocked at your "friend's" lack of brains. She broke I don't know how many cardinal rules of driving with your baby in her care. I'm so sorry, and I'm so glad that miabella is ok KUP on mia, and on all the s*&^ your "friend" gets in.
lisar replied: I am glad she is okay and it wasnt any worse. I dont think I would ever let my kids go off with her again though.
momofone replied: I'm so glad she's ok!
grapfruit replied: Oh Denise!!!! Lots of hugs for you and Bella.
Now when you take her to the dr. You know that your friend should have medical payments in her insurance to pay for that right? There's no reason why you should have to pay for any dr visits out of your pocket.
Let us know how her appointment goes.
Did your friend get charged w/child endangerment or anything like that?
punkeemunkee'smom replied: OMG! Denise I am so sorry! I would be beyond livid with your friend about the lack of concern for Bella's safety! I don't even know what to say! Please let us know what the doctor says! I am sorry girl!
My2Beauties replied: I would be stupid livid, when I say stupid livid I mean we probably would have gotten into an altercation That was extremely extremely irresponsible on your friend's part and she played with your child's life, how horrible! She wouldn't be my friend anymore, I'm sorry! I'd break all ties, or else we would get into a physical argument, I'd let her know how my daughter face felt by using my own two hands Sorry guys, I can get nasty when it comes to my kids, I can only imagine how you feel. I'm so glad Mia is ok.
Calimama replied: Well she checked out okay with the pediatrician. She got in there and the doctor asked what happened and she said, " I GOT OWS". She's such a character. To answer your questions...
Casey: No she's not paying for the medical, the Marine Corps pays for all of our medical, visits, prescriptions.. everything. She is however replacing Miabella's car seat. The cop suggested we NOT use the one that was in the accident anymore because you never know just how shook up it got.
Christine: Yes I told DH, he was steaming. He's a nice guy until you touch his family.. then his job comes out in him a little bit. I'm glad he's there and not here. He was a little calmer this morning though.
I will never let my "friend", or any other friend take Miabella again. She always picks her up from tumbling, but this time I had just gotten Miabella the new car seat. I asked her if she wanted me to put it in for her and she assured me her niece had one just like it and she knew how to get it in. I guess she didn't so she put it without buckling it into the car itself.
What really gets me is Miabella is under 20lbs and should have been rear facing. That might have prevented her face hitting the console.
lovemy2 replied: I am so glad she is ok - poor kid - I bet she was scared to death - that is one of my biggest fears - my children being scared and me not being there with them - when Olivia cut her head open I was more upset that I was there to pick her up when she fell than I was about anything else and the first thing she said to me when I saw her is Mommy I wanted you.....
And my god she didn't even strap the seat IN????? That is right up there with leaving your kid in the car and going to work for the day - I am sorry just my opinion but HOW do you forget you have your kids with you - sleeping or not?
Yes - I imagine you were somewhat glad DH was on ship for this but I sure bet Miabella could have used some Daddy hugs.....
stella6979 replied: I've been patiently waiting for the update and I'm so glad to hear she's doing fine. And I am just beside myself right now knowing that she didn't even buckle the carseat into the car. That just makes no sense to me. I'm really not one for namecalling, but geez, what an idiot.
HuskerMom replied: Glad she checked out ok. Did your "friend" get a ticket or anything?
MotherForever2043 replied: OMG!! I would of been PO for sure I'm glad Miabella checked out okay. I bet if it was her child, she would of buckled her in safely Like seriously, how long does it take to buckle in a car seat????!!?!!! This is just getting to me, because some people only care about hurrying up and getting where they need to be. That's crazy! Especially when a child is involved...(another one's child in in particular)!
~Did your "friend" get any fines or anything?
gr33n3y3z replied: I'm glad she is ok
My3LilMonkeys replied: She didn't buckle it in at ALL???? OMG not buckling it right/tight enough it bad enough!!!! I would be so mad.....
Glad to hear Mia is okay.
3xsthefun replied: I'm glad she is ok.
As far as your friend I would had been pretty mad myself. Especially her not putting the carseat in her vehicle the right way.
moped replied: How is she doing today Denise????
MoonMama replied: Same here and I also agree! I'm still so ANGRY about this one Denise! She's lucky we don't live in the same town.
DillsMommy replied: OMG! I'm so glad it wasn't worse, even though anytime your children get hurt it's horrible. I know how you feel. How is she feeling? Poor thing. Someone may have already said this, but you may want to look into getting another car seat. We just had to replace ours after my little boo-boo last friday. I know anytime there is a wreck (even a fender bender) your supposed to replace them (even though you may have already) That's just something I never knew until I had about 15 people tell me that. And as for your "friend" --
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I'm so sorry to hear this! I agree with a lot of people, your friend should have taken the time to make sure that she was buckled in properly! There is no excuse! I would be pretty upset if it was my friend and I wouldn't let her drive my child anywhere again!
